    Whats broke for you?

King's Gambit quest. There's an infinite loading bug in the quest. Need to complete it to further the story properly. Others have the same issue judging from reddit and CDProjectRed's forum.

I have pretty much nothing else to do in the game so have to wait til they fix the bug before I can play.

Considering it's quest essential to getting 2 endings of the game, it's sh1te that the game was released with it broken. You can skip a random side quest. Skipping this cuts endings from the game

Text in 1.04 appears to be a lot bigger.

Is this patch live yet? Where is it bigger? Personally the inventory screen might as well be in chinese for me, cant read it at all. Doesnt help that I use a projector so im missing that sharpness at the best of times

The hair DLC will not work for me at all. I installed it a few days ago and no matter what barber I go to it's just the same 3 options. Frustrating as if good DLC comes out looks like I won't be able to use any off it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,680 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I never used the barber before the dlc but i thought there wasn't a hair choice previously? I thought it was just a shave so any haircut choices you see now are dlc?

I love the story, styling and atmosphere of this game. But I bloody well despise these god awful combat mechanics.

I just beat the Golem while escorting Kiera, which took several goes, and was annoying as hell, but then the follow up part to close the portals was so immensely annoying I decided to stop for the night. You can't properly control who you're attacking, he keeps rolling out the bloody safe zone and the parry system is absolutely pathetic.

I just failed a mission retroactively. I completed the mission Cave of Dreams successfully but after a later mission
in which a character from that mission died
the quest moved itself to failed despite all the subquests still being marked as complete :(

Yep, parry is ****e... just leaves me dazed. Maybe it's something you have to level and focus a build on but why you would ever do that and not just go igni is a mystery. Right now I'm focusing on igni, it's a way to just cheese everything for late game since TW1 but I feel that's ok for the hell I put up with now.

    As for 1.04

I just updated but didn't mean to. Set GOG client to manual update since I don't like automatic. As far as I can see, the text size is fine for me playing at typical computer and KB/M distances. I have a lot of saves and I didn't want to be told I can't load them because of update differences but after selecting and turning on the DLCs (didn't know they were off) it updated to 1.04. To my surprise my 1.03 saves still work. I just hope the text isn't too big now... felt perfect before.

The battles seem quite different than the previous games but in the end it's actually the same. Use the right sign and/or potion right from the start and end the fight as quickly as possible seems to be the way to fight just about everything. The longer a fight goes on the more likely you're just going to take hits and die so get in there with heavy attack combos, build up the adrenaline (I put 1 point into it) and a few good dodges and you're ok. Anything less ends me up dead-shaped on the difficulty I'm playing. Forget the name... it's the second hardest.

Parry doesn't work against monsters, which is fair enough. Works fine against people though.

Wow just did the Towerful of Mice side quest... still very early on on the game. That level of detail is reserved for main quests on most other games. Took me about 90 minutes to finish ..... Getting closer to that reward from Keira I think

Finished the game today along with all the witcher contracts, working my way along the trophy list. Not really looking forward to the gwent related one's. Think I could have missed a few miss-able card's already

Lol I just saved after arriving via boat on the Island saw a bunch of drowners  Hate fighting those and wolves so much now
I just finished the Botchling quest, fúck me following around the spirit of an aborted fetus is so odd. I still am having problems with my vitality and took a pasting by a bunch of new bursting enemies  after finding that horse looking for the Blood Barons wife

    Level 6 now though I think i'm slowly improving.....very slowly :o

Today I put in as much of an all day session as I ever have with a game and I'm still loving it.

The main reason is just the amount of different things you can do. I played a load of gwent, some main quests, some secondary quests, witcher contracts and went to a bunch of question marks around the map.

The amount of content is just amazing and what's better is that it's all quality content!

Actually one of the cool things was I did one quest and when you complete it you can just head back and get the reward but if you keep exploring the general area you'll find loads of little clues and keys to chest etc. That kind of exploration is usually just shown on a minimap saying go here.

And I'm still in Velan with loads of stuff left to do. Think I'm level 9

Anyone else think the loading screens after you die in this game are worst than Bloodborne?

Yup, loading back to a previous save is total pain even on an SSD. Even just a regular load screen with a nice picture and a tip would be fine but they have the unskippable artwork, narrated, story update. I've just started muting my headphones each time or I'll go insane hearing the same three lines over and over again.

Ah here I posted earlier about side quests being epic but this ridiculous side quests have side quests in this ..... off to find Keira now after 3rd base :D

Just had a quest there involving a portal
It was quite a cheesy quest all in all ending with me getting a nice
    sword
    called the
    Emmentaler

I find myself going off the beaten track quite often in this. Went into some sewers up the north west of Novigrad and just spent an hour getting back out of the place. foud a ring and pearl on the ground and had no idea what they were for but they were highlighted in red. Oh well. I might end up picking a quest later on that might explain it...

I must have picked up a quest that I shouldn't have until later in the game, either that or I had a quest WAY above my level active at the time of death but the loading screen game me some MAJOR spoilers as to what was happening later on in the game.

Less than 20 seconds to load while installed to ssd on pc version so nothing like bloodborne on ps4 for me.

Did you do the King's Gambit quest?
Skellige crown succession one where you choose Cerys or Hjalmar?
