Apparently no more blood bags in standalone. Instead you find empty blood bags, and find someone to donate blood to it, and that person has to be living.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1gl8sc/no_more_bloodbags/

Interesting feature, will make interaction almost a necessity.

Bet you'll start seeing heavily armed groups running about with an unarmed 'bloodbag' now :P

The more I read about the standalone, the more I'm going to support the mod for as long as it's available.

I'm sure it'll be abandoned by Rocket's crew and picked up by the community and never be the same, however even broken and unplayable I still reckon it'll be better than the standalone. I just think Rocket's crew can't pull off what they're trying to do.

    Just me?

I don't know ! I am wondering if the Arma 3 + Mod will just blow the standalone out of the water completely ...

    Won't even come close.

key point of the standalone is to address hacking that is just so wipespread in arma2/arma3 that alone no matter what else is added is what has me sold.

Well Rocket isn't really in charge of updating the mod now, that's Razor, but Rocket has to approve every update. As far as I know Razor doesn't work on the Standalone so I'm pretty sure a few new updates will come to the mod if Razor gets the crafting in with guns etc. although he Rocket said at E3 that it might be the last update because it's as close to standalone they can get on Arma 2.

That being said I'm still going to try get Standalone on the first few days ( only 7500 copies of alpha being released :( )

Having so much fun on taviana at the moment, never really played it before. Havent really gotten back into origins yet, its very time consuming and I had so much stuff on my last server, then it shut down, was so p1ssed :(

Is Arma3 as badly hit by hackers as Arma2 was? And have they talked about how they are going to combat it in standalone?

Arma 3 is worse than Arma 2 currently. It doesn't have any anti-hacking measures.

The standalone has everything controller server side, so hacking should be minimal.

Nooo :(. I'd absolutely hate if the server I'm on shut down, finally have houses up and want to start building a garage.

It was genuinely devestating haha! Whats the server you play on like?

GTX SKS, it's a 50 player server. It has 'Max Vehicles' in it's description.

    Sounds like a lag-fest. :pac:

All those "max vehicles" servers on Origins are liars :pac: The host doesnt let you modify server files since Origins is still private so its just the set amount of vehicles, same as any other ones, its just to get players in. I was thinking of buying an Origins server but they're kinda expensive for a good amount of slots and there's not much freedom in them if there's like 600+ more servers out there the exact same.

I'v found origins performs quite ok. The more players on though does cause NPC's to de-sync like fook. The new patch boasts better performance overall so it's not majorly laggy mod to play.

Who knows though how it will go with everyone starting to build Strongholds though.

I played on a good few servers previosuly and some of them barely had any vehicles. This one was one of the few that had what was advertised.

its bad thing paying for something that should be free. anyone and everyone should be allowed to host orgins if they choose. I think its wrong and personally won't install/play it even thou i can play for free as a client. In case you gonna ask "would you host it". maybe i dunno. I play on other dayz server than my own and enjoy it more tbh.
I have seen the server files leaked but still, I will wait for standalone after all those servers are gonna die once it does.

Yeah same just think about Origins the reason they're keeping it private is because they see the money they can actually make with it since its so popular and more and more people want to host it. 40 slot server is around 37 euro which is kind of a rip off.

@MichaelCravez Yeah some servers seem like that, I was talking to a server admin when I used to play Origins and he said all they have is the ability to kick/ban and they can't modify the server files in any way. I don't know it might have changed.

So is there a bunch of boards lads on an Origin server? Just been hoping round servers looking at the goodies wouldn't mind having someone to give the building supplies I keep finding.

Also do the AI raid the mainland in Origin now? If so, do they fly choppers?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 3,096 Mod ✭✭✭✭ktulu123

We tried Origins for a few hours the other day on a full server. We spent our time travelling to all the major cities & loot spots & met about 1 or 2 people. It got boring very quickly, don't think im bothered with it tbh

Yeah AI fly choppers, they only shoot at you if you shoot them. They make their way to salvation city or something.

I've been playing mostly Breaking Point, since the addition of dogs and Blood Suckers (those things are ****ing vicious as hell) I found myself playing it more and more. Had the funniest experience the other night. Was lone wolfing it to NEAF and got trapped inside the barracks with low ammo and a blood sucker after me, out of no where two guys show up in an SUV kill the blood sucker and zombies and then tell me to drop all weapons..so I played along...pretty much got kidnapped for about an hour I'd say. Was hilarious, but then got taken out as I attempted an escape when they got ambushed. So glad I got this game. Hours of fun!

Anybody haveing issues with origins on dayz commander?
It came up the other night that the file was corrupt so hit repair and it reinstalled. Bout 1.4gbs.
After that the server list was empty cause according to dayz commander I had the wrong version of arma 2.
Even though in the update tab on commander it said arma 2 was up to date?
