Well you know there are like phrases I like you know find like you know very like irritating especially when people like you know use them like over and you know over like again you know

I teach in America so this is pretty much a daily thing for me. I have one student where the quote above would actually be zero exaggeration at all how she talks. I eventually told her once to stop, think about what you want to say, and THEN say it clearly without the you knows and likes. She was delighted when she just said something coherent, it was like it had never occurred to her to try this before.

    'Hon the boys'
    'Hon the lads'
    'Hon the town'

I really don't know what 'Hon' means but I've been told it's Bebospeak for 'Come on the boys' etc.

Anyone know what the expression means ?

You just said what it means in the previous sentence.

What is Bebospeak? I've been told it's language used on Bebo.

Anyone know what the expression means?

In regards to what I hate, "And so on and so forth." Seems to be a buzz word where I am currently and hear it multiple times daily :(

    Sports commentators saying "Pointed".
"Lar Corbett pointed from three frees."
You never hear anyone saying, "Wayne Rooney Goaled from three frees".

    "Gifted"
"My sister gifted me this jacket."

"If I don't see you beforehand, have a good Christmas" ....

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,720 ✭✭✭donegal_man

On the topic of Christmas. People who call it "Crimbo".
Similarly anyone who calls St Patrick's Day "Paddy's Day", "Patty's Day" or worst of all "Whacker's Day".

Only thing worse is people who refer to themselves in the third person. You'd never catch Trashcan doing that sort of thing, oh no.
