I'd pay 20 to go to Wooly's one. He's the one that should be charging not the OTB doping police.

I won tickets to the Heineken sponsored one a few months back in the mansion house and not even a free drink. Then twigged everyone else had paid, was shocked!
Id gone to ones previously with free drink (again won tickets), not a chance I'd pay

Why is it everytime Johnny Giles is on he chats about football from 40+ years ago, who cares!

I gave up listening to this show a long time ago, as I was fed up hearing about Leeds in the 70s. Thought I'd tune in tonight to hear his thoughts about the CL draw, and what was he chatting about when I switched on? Leeds in the 70s.

Man is irrelevant. No idea why he is still asked for his opinion.

Kind of agree here sadly. :(

The trick is not to listen every Thursday.

If you just catch it the odd time, it's good to hear himself.

Because he is a 'beloved institution' who takes every game on it's merits.

    :)

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I do have a lot of love for John Giles and I always make a point of listening to that podcast. He's well able to talk about the modern game - ok so sometimes he struggles with players names but generally he's very good when talking about current stuff imo.

I would put more blame on Ger/Joe/whoever as I think it is them that tend to force him down the "back in my day" road. "So John, when you were at Leeds.....".

    That's the thing.

You need to take every Thursday Night Football with John Giles on it's merits.

he's not shy to volunteer it at all. the whole thing with Wayne Rooney being Man Utd's best midfielder, even though he was a forward, who always wanted to play as a forward, and who is still a forward was nonsensical from him.

Plus he gives your more 'honesty of effort' than any other pundit.:P

Not only that he has the 'moral courage' to tell it like it is :D

I don't like when Ger is talking to Giles because it's usually a 'Arsenal/Man City/Liverpool are sh1te aren't they' conversation, when Joe or Nathan are on they push it towards the technical aspects of the game an area where Giles is unrivalled, no one else has the gift to explain that type of stuff so simply and clearly.

I know people love whinging about him talking about the old days, but because of him I've gotten a very clear window as to what the game was like long before money came into the game.

I know when he finishes up the general consensus on here will be 'Good riddance to that dinosaur' but I'll miss when he's gone.

The Sunday Paper Review is worth a listen for those who like listening to Andy Lee... which is all of us I think! :)

The first ~25 minutes is about the Mayweather-McGregor fight.

Sinead O'Carroll, news editor at the Journal.ie, is the other guest.

It was a good episode alright. Joe overstepped the mark again in being desperately offended for the Irish women's team and how they were allegedly treated by the coaching staff. Despite only one side of the story being given

Yeah did enjoy it, they were a really good pairing.

So is Oisin Langan replacing one of the 200 other lads who present OTB, or has he just been added to the roster?

Great to hear him "Just before I let you go"-ing again on OTB.

I only heard half of it (Tyrone v Kerry discussion onwards)but it was decent

They had Sean Cavanagh talking to Oisin Langan.

Langan was about to burst into tears at any moment...

They had Horan on analysing Mayo trying to convince himself/ the Mayo public that:

'Mayo are in a good place'

Which I am positive he said the same this time last year?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I have little interest in Rugby so not sure why I listened in. The segment with Philip Doyle and Fiona Steed was appalling. Philip Doyle came across as a bitter bitter man. I suspect regardless of how the womens team did, he would have found fault with it some how.

I do wonder why Philip Doyle is being so upfront in his criticism. Most ex managers usually stay out of these sort of affairs. It certainly seems like he has been waiting in the long grass for his moment to get revenge.

I'll have to listen but his twitter comments were absolutely uncalled for. Unbelievable

Tuned in to hear the transfer deadline business, only to find it's an All Ireland final special.

Thanks be to jesus, fair play OTB.

Wait now, is Keith Andrews presenting this now too?

Are there any 25-40 year old men in Ireland who don't present Off The Ball?

I watched the Women's Rugby World Cup last Saturday night, quiet an enjoyable game and a very successful tournament all round, apart from the Irish team themselves.
Now l know how much Off the ball love to go on about getting more women into sport and tell their listener's to go and support them. All laudable aspirations but l wonder are they just paying lip service without any real conviction to the cause.
The Rugby World Cup final was a perfect example, not a single mention of it all week, l know they did something about the Irish team on the Sunday paper review, but from what I can gather it was more about the controversy around the Irish manager and the fallout from it. Wednesday night Rugby was back this week not a dicky bird there either. How is that supporting Women in sport?

They had the ex manager and Fiona Steed on there Tuesday or Wednesday discussing it
