He has no problem with the Cork fans bringing the Japanese flag. Well maybe to some of the Chinese people, who would see this as representative of the Imperialist Japan of the 1930s, this flag might be offensive. Is it up to Joe Molloy now to decide which flags are to be deemed offensive?

I honestly don't know how Joe leaves the house in the morning any more, he's so sensitive. The other humans continuously letting him down by their lack of decorum and etiquette.

Such absolute horsesh1t from Joe again. Putting his own meaning on the flag so that he can get offended again. Surrounded by all his yes men "Oh well said Joe, well said". A bunch of clowns.

Bring back woolly. Kilbland out, he's just another lapdog.

His own meaning on the flag, seriously? It symbolises a very definitive ideology.

And over the years there have been calls from within Cork itself for fans to stop using it.

It's all bull****ology. Is there a single person on planet earth (or beyond) that believes the flag is being flown based on its American history? Cork people must really love sushi.

Which is why I said it's dumb from the outset. I'm not in the least offended by it, just bemused.

Why not fly the Swastika flag as the colours also suit. Everyone knows it's not because they support the Nazi party, it's just the pretty colours.

That's basically the argument you're making.

I give thanks to this thread, they listen to the BS so others don't have to. I tried to give the show a chance when the famous 3 left (one of whom frequented with his own social justice muck) and it was fine. Colm Parkinson was reasonably good, a star of the show, and anyone who gets up the nose of Jim "The Messiah" Mcguinness is alright with me.

Ger Gilroy, well we know what he is like, 10 words when 5 will do, and he had his place at the weekend, facilitating a great laid back round table chat with sports people along with the live sport.

Molloy, dear god. Insufferable, I had enough after his whinging about Tiger (he snagged a few women because the wife wasn't putting out,the horror) and Rory for meeting Trump

Have the audience figures decreased or stayed the same?

They previously used a soundbite of an American College coach that talked about being a dog rather than a cat. Wish Joe would man up, He is not Bono, cut the preaching out

Don't know what the figures are Dan.

I'm another one who's tuned out for good. Was a listener to one incarnation or another of the show for 8, 9 years.

Someone posted a few pages back that their latest JNLR figures are 51,000. Which means they haven't really changed that much since they took over. Still the most listen to radio show at this time slot, with almost twice the number of listeners as any other show on at this time.

It's odd, I agree with Joe on all of these things, and I'm glad he keeps bringing them up...

but Jeeeeez he does it in a preachy way.

In fairness to him he does talk a lot of sense.
He even has the good radio voice.
But it is a pity he is atheist, because he would make a fantastic priest.
He would love taking confession's, and solemnly shaking his head while subtly admonishing the individual.

It has got to stage where I am even starting to think that Ger Gilroy is less painful to listen to then Joe Molloy.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Joe is up on the soapbox again. This time NFL players not singing the national anthem. Joe should be on a current affairs show at this stage. Maybe that show dil does on Saturday evenings.

He's off again. Global Village Does Sport for the umpteenth time this week.

He's mainly interested in civil rights and being a social justice warrior. The sport is very much secondary.

That's fair enough. But it's time for him to leave off the ball as an anchor.

But he's also excruciatingly politically correct. Those two things together make him insufferable. I'm down to the Sunday paper review now as my only regular show but that is becoming tougher to listen to because Joe + any one of Kimmage, Cunningham, Foley et al. will invariably allow the show to gravitate towards the 'D' word. Whatever happened to Kimmage's self-serving, one man crusade to expose and clean up rugby? I personally think he was met by the apathy of a fan base who like their sport the way it is and couldn't care less about his vocation to rid the world of performance enhancing agents like coffee, multi vitamins and protein powder.

I find that I am gradually drifting away from listening to it as well.
It is becoming predictable and tired.

I did not listen to any of today's show or any sports news yet.

When I look back at the podcast section's heading's I try and guess:
    1) Is this interesting?
    2) Is this a predictable rant type piece?
    3) In light of this is it worth listening to?

Just looking at the headings - 15th of August

Is Tackling a dying art? - Does not interest me because the obvious answer is yes!

Battling managers in League of Ireland - could be worth listening to nice to hear a bit LOI stuff?

NFL Stars Question Patriotism in US Sports - Jayus no this is going to annoy me and I don't care

Still Pulling The Strings At 39
    - An overused pun for a general story about Peter Stringer at 39 - not sure I will bother with that

The Hickey Report, Bolt, Farah & Ireland at the Worlds - more corruption rehashed stories - drugs are bad m'kay? No thanks not listening to this stuff

Maguire's Magic Airplane and Non-League Talent The airplane bit has me stumped - something to do with 'them across the water' ? Might click that bit out of interest on it's own.
The non-league talent bit - hope is an in-depth discussion and not just generalisations?

Austin Gleeson Free To Play, Scott Hogan Declares - Gleeson story obvious nothing to hear there ( I can fast forward that). Scott Hogan who?

Is he related to the American 'Chad Hogan' character that comedian Kevin Bridges created?
    https://www.ksl.com/?sid=19224133

Definitely worth clicking to find that out hoping I won't be disappointed....

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

A lot of Southern Americans view the flag as part of thier heritage and are not racist.

Even some African-American's view it as part of thier heritage

Cork people just use it because of the 'Rebel' association.

    Where does it stop though?

If a person is waving an Irish flag that can be seen as offensive to the unionist persuasion as it has republican undertones for them - particularly the far left republican's.

Not only that the names of GAA clubs and grounds are named after rebels/ British traitors should they be changed?
They are clearly offensive to unionists in NI!

Should the English flag of St George not be displayed as it has being hi-jacked by elements of the far right?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Oisin Langan has tweeted that he is leaving Newstalk Breakfast and will be moving to a reporter role with Newstalk. I wonder if he'll be heard on Off the Ball more?

They had Dan O'Donnell on for the LOI section, he is always worth a listen. Was one funny part where Joe made some joke and Dan didn't find it funny, Joe got a bit upset over it :pac:

Dunno why but I get the sense that Kev is on big money to appear on otb.

He adds very little bar that he is bland and "nice" and feigns interest in whatever topic is at hand.

I completely agree, cant stand his bad attitude and his bad humour... but I assume that they are paying him quite a bit to contribute, so you would have thought that they would have at least made sure that the audience could hear him.

I had an awful thought when I was listening earlier and he was saying he was Las Ramblas earlier on that day. "Fecking terrorists should have been earlier". :o

Confederate flag topic came up again on off the ball bag this evening, Ger said any Cork supporter who has the flag is a racist. Simple as that.

The fact that there was a Che Guevarra flag attached to it makes this entire episode surreal.

Dave McIntyre called them stubborn eejits, which is probably a more accurate reflection of the whole thing.
