    Good to be back, G!

Oh and also, for the first time I had bulletproof coffee with coconut oil; wanted to see what the fuss is all about.
Stirred a tablespoon of coconut oil in black coffee. Was ok, nothing exciting. Then I handblended it. Oh my. Hello Saturday. It was lovely.

Bought a whole smoked trout in Lidl. It's being stocked as part of their Polish week. Intended to make some pâté out of the flesh, or something similar.

It died a second death at 5.30am this morning. Awake for some godforsaken reason, and hungry I went on the kitchen prowl. There it was in all its glory, so I tucked into it without doing anything to it. And it was pretty damned delicious on it's own. Smoky and salty, yet nuttily sweet (in a fishy sort of way) with lovely buttery flesh. So breakfast this morning was toast and butter with smoked trout and a smidgen of horseradish for flavour. Yeah, you had to cut the fish up and avoid some bones, but I was up and awake anyway :P

I went back to bed full of fishy goodness. Hmm...there is the second fillet still in the fridge..

    Awesome.

    Much bones in it?

Is it not mackerel? I always get it but my local Lidl had none this time so I had to settle for sprats waaaaaaaah.
Your description is pretty much spot on, very buttery and salty smoked flesh. Damn you Carrick Lidl *shakes fist*

Mackerel indeed, not trout. Post edited.

As for bones, what you would expect for a whole fish, but not awfully difficult to work around.

Oooh what does this taste like? Is it filling?

A flat white & a '99' doughnut. Might have to eat real food for breakfast tomorrow. Something not 'walk at the seaside' themed.

It tastes caramel-like with a hint of coconut, but not as filling as you'd have a cappuccino.

I made the Deliciously Ella 'Creamy Coconut Porridge' on Saturday - there were 2 portions so I heated it up again yesterday with a little almond milk.

It was heaven - absolutely beautiful and so creamy. Hard to believe vegan food can be so good!

Thanks for the recommendation guys :)

Try adding some feta as well. I meant to put it in mine but I forgot.

Hmmm, sounds great but the gf is lactose intolerant. I'll have a look in the shops to see if they have a lactose free version

Feta or most sheep cheese are very low in lactose; to my knowledge they're ok to eat for people who are lactose intolerant. Unless she has a serious allergy to them.

Feta seems to be quite high in Lactose? I'll have a look around anyway and see what I can find. I've read that the higher the sugar content in food, the higher the Lactose?

    Halloumi might work either.

I think the harder cheeses are lower in lactose, an aged Parmigiano Reggiano (3 years) is almost lactose free, from what I remember

Small 2 egg omelette with some spicy tomato filling. Added a little bit of seasoning, salt, pepper, cumin, coriander and hot sauce to the egg mix to give it a Mexican vibe. Was delicious :D

I had some leftovers from a bacon, cabbage & potato dinner last week. On Saturday, I diced up the remainder of the bacon & spuds, added half a chopped onion & formed it into patties with some seasoned flour & a beaten egg. I fried the bacon hash patties until crisp on both sides & then topped them off with a fried egg.

Piece of toast with avocado & lime. Scone with raspberry jam & butter. 2 breakfasts, hobbit style.

Toast with goats cheese & homemade blackberry & apple jam*. I don't like jam on bread (I'm a freak) but it turns out I am all over jam and cheese on bread.

*or maybe it's more of a compote. Didn't do such a hot job of following the recipe

Yesterday and today it was a bowl of cornflakes followed by bacon & egg cups

Mrs B got a new recipe for brown bread from her brother. Had a couple of slices this morning with my apple jelly. Great combination! :)

Lemon pancakes with a lemon butter sauce. Got lemons yesterday so had a hankering for some lemony goodness.

    Mmm lemons.

Can of Aldi's sardines with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, some sea salt, black pepper and a slice of wholemeal toast.

I'm back on the porridge with the cooler weather. This morning I had it with grated apple and cinnamon.
