It certainly didn't do my waistline any favours, but Sunday morning I had a big durty chip butty lashed with salt & vinegar from Saturday night's leftovers from the chipper. And a mug of tae.

    Black Coffee.

    Big cup of coffee.
Made crepes with 20% brown flour (out of curiosity), served with butter, maple syrup (Aldi, it's excellent for the price) and crispy smoked rashers.

I don't think I'll cut the crepes with brown flour again. (Though I'll be eating the leftover batter tomorrow and possibly wed...).
My preferred way to augment the crepe batter is a 1/3 buckwheat 2/3 white flour, but the buckwheat doesn't really keep.

I'm gonna go to Supermacs, for a chicken wrap meal with Diet Coke. And extra garlic sauce. And I can't wait! :):):)

Yesterday, I had the ultimate in Southern heart attack breakfasts: A [savoury] biscuit, topped with a fried chicken breast, two lightly fried eggs, sausage gravy and potato rosti :D

I could only eat half of eat, but my god, it's one of the best breakfasts I've ever had.

I've always wondered is a biscuit in American terms like a cracker or more like scone / bread roll?

I made the worlds most perfect soft boiled eggs this morning . White set perfectly and the yoke lovely and runny. Shame I wanted hard boiled eggs  Would have just had them anyway but I had let them cool so cold runny egg yolk wasn't appealing unfortunately. I swear if I wanted soft boiled eggs any other day of the week I wouldn't be able to get them as good as today, typical!

It's like a savoury, buttery scone. They're amazing. It's definitely on my "to learn" list!

We have been working on digestive issues our 18month old has and he has been on medication since 6 months old. I chatted to a friend who is a nutritional therapist and she suggested a few additions to his diet. Within two days he was off his medication (under doctor supervision) and we've not looked back 2 months later! So breakfast is the same most mornings :)

Overnight soaked oats in either water or almond milk, 1 table spoon of kefir in each bowl, dab of honey to sweeten and a sprinkle of chia seeds. Followed by kiwi.

Baby is feeling much better and I can feel the benefits myself. Delighted!

Is kefir something that has a short date on it or is it something that keeps for s long time? I'm interested in this breakfast for myself and my son

Edit to add my own brekkie: same as every other week day - boiled egg on 2 slices of homemade soda and a gallon of tea promptly followed by a mug of coffee :)

I buy mine in the local farmers market and it has a date of about 3 weeks. It's available in tesco for €1 in the chilled polish section. I don't know what the quality is like as I've never tried it. Or you can produce your own if you get the grains. I don't know how long that lasts for though. Find it easier to buy it.

Kefir turns up in Lidl's Polish Week special offers. Never felt the need to try it myself :)

I made a batch of granola yesterday with oats, pecans, pumpkin seeds, vanilla, oil, honey and dark chocolate. I ate some this morning with greek yogurt and blueberries. It was a happy Sunday morning indeed.

A sad icey crumpet from the freezer (after toasting it twice it still was a bit soggy underneath) with jam and butter and some nice coffee

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,057 ✭✭✭MissFlitworth

Homemade granola (had been planning to do this for ages & homadecider's post above kicked me into action!) with oats/buckwheat/walnuts/third of a sad, chewy 'luxury nut' box that had had the bag left open/cranberries/shake of milled linseed that I don't know why I bought/peanut butter chips/cocoa/maple syrup with Skyr natural yoghurt and some mango. Enough granola for breakfast for a couple of months now :)

On the subject of homemade granola, I've been making my own muesli for the last month or so. I wanted something that didn't have wheat flakes, or too much sugar (including natural sugar), or any preservatives.

I came up with a mixture of 50% oats, 10% almonds, 10% hazelnuts, 10% raisins, 5% walnuts, 5% sunflower seeds, 5% pumpkin seeds, 5% sesame seeds, and a good dash of cinnamon. I normally have it with almond milk.

Poached eggs, smoked salmon and a side helping of melon. On a bit of a health kick, missing the bread though.

Sea salt crackers, smoked salmon scraps I had to use up, topped with horseradish.
