It was supposed to be a shameful sausage & egg mcmuffin but I remembered at 10.33 that McDonalds stop serving breakfast at 10.30. So it was toasted pumpkin seed bread and a bit of a sulk instead.

    I hate those days.

I had coffee, homemade white bread toasted with butter and jam. Gonna be starving in twenty minutes

Wandered through the cupboards and didn't feel particularly breakfast-y, so ended up cooking pasta with garlic, chilli and parsley :P

Pear & almond scone. Anyone else get a little nervous eating slivered almonds? I always seem to end up with one of them jammed into my throat like a knife.

No, but with freshly baked scones or buns I'm inclined to inhale the odd loose crumb

^^ Miss F that's my favourite treat breakfast!

Today I had a little experiment. Coconut porridge with strawberry chia seed jam and fresh strawberries. Absolutely delicious and so filling. I'd normally have let the jam sit for longer in the fridge for the seeds to expand but it was 3pm and I hadn't eaten yet :o

Rashers, tomatoes & black & white pudding done on the BBQ. Fried a couple of eggs on the side burner. Not warm enough to sit out though.

I had a bacon sandwich, and a green smoothie with kiwi, pineapple, banana, spinach, lemon juice and avocado. Yum.

I had brown bread, mashed avocado, bacon and a fried egg on top. I love weekend breakfasts!

A mini loaf of Fitzcoff's banana bread . It was really yummy, gets a lovely sugary crust in my mini loaf tins, and I am buzzing for my day ahead now!

Toasted pita bread. One with Aldi's Moroccan hummus, another with a dip of rapeseed oil, sea salt and za'atar seasoning.

I bought and did not eat porridge. My own personal taste in porridge runs to 'grim, prison' so other people's is weird to me. So I have a tub of cold porridge and sour berries if anyone wants them?

I went through a phase of this. Do you like chocolate? Could try putting some cocoa powder in it.

I do :) And I do really like porridge with a nut butter through it or a square of very dark chocolate melted on top. Will aim for something nicer next time!

Coconut porridge with almonds and maple syrup. First porridge of the year!

Oh YUM!! Can I ask where the coconut element came from?
ie. Coconut milk or did you add desiccated coconut

I want to make this myself so it's vital I know :)

Porridge here too. Apple crumble porridge. Must be the autumnal glow about the place inspiring all the porridges :)

    For one person:

Half a cup of porridge oats
One eighth cup of desiccated coconut
    Half a cup of milk
Most of a cup of water
    Pinch of salt

Stir on a medium heat until creamy and the consistency you like. Top with maple syrup and almonds and enjoy!

Bought a whole smoked mackerel in Lidl. It's being stocked as part of their Polish week. Intended to make some pâté out of the flesh, or something similar.

It died a second death at 5.30am this morning. Awake for some godforsaken reason, and hungry I went on the kitchen prowl. There it was in all its glory, so I tucked into it without doing anything to it. And it was pretty damned delicious on it's own. Smoky and salty, yet nuttily sweet (in a fishy sort of way) with lovely buttery flesh. So breakfast this morning was toast and butter with smoked mackerel and a smidgen of horseradish for flavour. Yeah, you had to cut the fish up and avoid some bones, but I was up and awake anyway :P

I went back to bed full of fishy goodness. Hmm...there is the second fillet still in the fridge..
