The WOS article attacking Rangers? Ah come on now, it's doing no such thing, it's having a go at the football authorities if anything.

Fair enough, I'm not going to get into the semantics of it all, but my.point still stands regarding our worrying retreat back to talking politics via football and the obvious divide that this creates.
I expect better from two outlets who have pushed themselves to the forefront of Scottish consciousness using the referendum.

Dave King buys 15% shares according to BBC and Sky so along with the other three that gives them over 30%. Close to pushing for an EGM

Yikes, I can't believe this is being broadly welcomed. This guy is cut from the exact same cloth as Whyte/Green. He is a convicted fraudster.

This much is true, however it's a bit more complicated than that as i'm sure you well understand.

If he is working alongside the "Three Bears" then I believe they are a hundred times better option than Ashley & whatever circus he has running at Ibrox this week, and if as suggested, the long term goal is fan ownership models similar to what's recently happened with Motherwell/Hibs/hearts then i will - warily - welcome that.

If it was King on his own i'd be more wary.

Wee point I never said I welcomed it. But as EB states when the other three are involved and I believe at least one more has to play their hand, It changes how I feel about it I believe we will be in safer hands than we are at present so I won't be to upset with him being involved

King is not in it to run the club, he merely wants the scumbags in charge out and therefore backs the move by the other 3 guys.

Once it's done I doubt he'll be anywhere near a position of power, he has no interest in it.

This is it in a nutshell

I'll be honest I know very little about the others involved and the potential dynamics between them, like I said given that those types of characters have absolutely mugged the Rangers support before I was concerned that the likes of King would be welcome. He is a charlatan.

I know where you are coming from but I believe he is more reliable within the framework that looks to be coming together than what we have now and I include Ashley in that he certainly has not got any interest in taking the club forward

I don't really see how his tax issues in SA make him a charlatan.

He tried to pay as little tax as possible, got caught and rightly punished.

That doesn't mean he's an idiot or charlatan though, he's obviously got substantial personal wealth and has made a successful career for himself.

I read once that when he was sentenced for the tax evasion he made the fine back three times over in a matter of months. That doesn't sound like a stupid man to me.

As for the others: Douglas Park is well known businessman with a big bus company and several car dealerships, George Taylor has made quite a good living in Hong Kong working for Morgan Stanley.

Evading tax so you can gain financially is the very definition of being a charlatan!

He is a complete charlatan, failure to pay tax as he should have proves it.

Tax issues is putting it very very mildly, he was facing hundreds of criminal charges relating to a deliberate tax evasion scheme. Sounds all too familiar to me.

Anyways I'm certainly not doubting that he has money, my point was that he is a (proven) charlatan and those type of people will use any situation to benefit themselves financially.

Of course he may abandon his instincts and act in the best interests of Rangers rather than himself, my own feeling (and work experience) tells me these people can rarely resist.

Of course Rangers fans are entitled to feel optimistic and a certain leap of faith is needed no matter who takes control, but they should scrutinise the likes of King at every move.

I doubt anyone coming in to the club is going to be accepted 100% by most fans total trust will take a long time to be gained.

It's Rangers v Dumbarton on the field today. Three changes to the starting line up with Templeton Hutton and Daly coming in for Clark Black and Aird

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,704 ✭✭✭Broxi_Bear_Eire

Dumbarton go into a 0-1 lead. A corner kick into the box and some terrible defending and it's one nil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Daly scores (sort of), right when the crowd are getting angry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,704 ✭✭✭Broxi_Bear_Eire

Rangers pull it back to 1-1 Smith crosses into the box and though Daly does not know much about it. It hits his chest and ends up in the back of the net

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,704 ✭✭✭Broxi_Bear_Eire

It's now Rangers 2 Dumbarton 1. A cross into the box and Wallace from the edge of the box shoots into the net.

Shiels makes it 3-1 to Rangers and put the game to bed after a very nervy 10 minutes

I'll be quiet interested in what the AIM (stock market) and SFO (fraud office) have to say about Kings purchase. For the past 12-18 months he's been quite public in his stance of boycotting the board, fans not attending matches, not buying merchandise.

All things that would push the share price down. Then in he swoops and buys up quite a few shares. I'm no forensic accountant, but is that not market manipulation???

Well if your so interested carry on and do something about it great to see you take an interest in the club ;).
My own take on it would be anyone with an ounce of sense can see the share price was falling without Kings help.

Notoriously difficult to prove, I doubt anything would come from claims that he's bashing to be honest. theres any amount of examples of manipulation goes unpunished. (Ryanair could be accused of it regularly)

So all of a sudden some random American decides to bid for the club, right after King and co have made their move ?

Colour me unimpressed, wouldn't be surprised if he's a friend of Green or whatever.

You're thinking of Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Thats who Green claimed to have a deal with! :pac:

Sarver seems like the most normal person so far to have shown an interest in RIFC

I don't think Douglas Park is anything but a respectable businessman or any of the other two.
King is a different kettle of fish but the other three nah

All sorts of rumours that there's a big announcement being made in the morning, shares suspended etc...

Looks like it's not going to be good news as The The Rangers websites are revolting and in a state of panic.

    Rumour it could be administration.

    Time will tell I suppose.

My interest is in the company. That's where the shares are for no?

There seems to be serious liquidity issues at Rangers right now after narrowly dodging a winding up order. The guts of the Brentford money is likely to be gone by the end of the week. whoever has their sights set on power at Ibrox will need to act soon. Interesting times again.
