I know how you feel, you're suggesting vague terms and expecting me to agree with you.

Let's take the banner idea as it's somewhere in between our two extremes - If a small group of supporters of a football club put a banner on show during a game which is deemed offensive/illegal/whatever, should the whole of the support be judged on this?
After all, it's probably only 2 or 3 guys who are truly implicit in the creation and displaying of this banner, but the whole stadium saw it and did nothing.

I don't believe they should, for reasons i've layed out as plain as day in this thread.
I'm left unsure regarding your view on it though, it's not tens of thousands singing a song, but it's not one daft wee boy either.

At a push I would still deem the support responsible, as it's not particularly hard to deal with. Do you think a Union flag would last long in the Celtic end? Or a tricolour at Ibrox? At the very least it would be taken down by someone.

i don't think your example has any relevance, reacting to a deliberate attempt to wind you up doesn't come under self policing does it?

It demonstrates the action that could be taken if the support disagreed with a banner/flag on display, so yes, it is relevant.

Not really, it's far easier to react against someone representing the "Other" than it is to react against what is ostensibly your own.
If a group of fans such as TBO or the GB unfurled a banner at a match which made a high percentage of their own support uncomfortable, the chances of a reaction against it at the time are slight compared to your suggestion.

As i've said, i agree with the basis of the inaction logic in general - but it's clearly more complicated than that where perceived power structures and group mentalities come into play.

It also takes me, once again, to my original question and the context for it - Should the Rangers support be judged on a few 'choice cuts' from a forum with a reputation for being full of idiots?

Out of interest what fans forum would be closest to the average The Rangers fans way of thinking because as far as I can see they're all very similar and their outlook on various things are all very similar.

Your AGM is on today, should be some fireworks at that.

Anyone know what time it's at or who to follow on Twitter for updates?

Here's the pic of Ibrox for today's AGM, looks like the shareholders are going to wet, bring treated contemptuously here by the Board.

Depends on how you look at it really, I wouldn't normally suggest any internet forum is wholly representative of the man on the street due to the fact that so many people have a habit of changing their personality when relatively anonymous.

RM is a sham on many levels, I wouldn't pish on many of it's users if they were on fire.

FF is clearly the biggest, and as such would be argued as the most representative - but - as with all of these things, the loudest voices aren't always the ones who you would describe as the "average" person.
Its also very tightly controlled in terms of ongoings at Rangers right now due to the likes of Dingwall and his ego, so in that sense the opinion can be warped.

Obviously there's the hardcore idiots at VB and the likes.

The only one I use is Gersforum, it's much smaller but has a very open and articulate userbase most of the time and i would honestly say due to the fact that it's smaller and people get to know one another quickly that it can be seen as closer to the average joe you'd meet in the pub, much less bravado and trolling.

For example I think it's quite obvious that most Celtic fans do support the IRA and sing about them, and that most Rangers fans are anti-Irish bigots. Absolute nonsense to pretend otherwise and in all fairness it was that combination that fuelled what was one of the most intense derbies in world football.

    Lol. What utter, utter drivel.

    An absolute joke/disgrace.

Complete contempt to anyone who loves the club, they simply couldn't care less.

Sometimes I wish we had a more hardcore fanbase, at times you wonder what would happen to these scumbags if they tried their stuff in Eastern Europe or South America.

The Scottish Football Association has rejected Mike Ashley's request to raise his shareholding in Rangers International Football Club to 29.9%.

The Newcastle United owner currently holds 8.92% and wanted to increase that in return for providing funding.

Rangers need at least £8m of fresh investment to continue trading for the next 12 months.

The SFA board "unanimously" declined Ashley's proposal, a decision which has left Rangers "very disappointed".

If they are disappointed about something so inevitable then I reckon the club is serious trouble. £8m just to trade for the next 12 months? Flogging a dead horse comes to mind

Surprised the SFA have shown a backbone here. Although I imagine some new mysterious investor that definitely has nothing to do with MASH comes up with £8m soon.

    Happy Christmas folks.
Events over the last few days have shown, yet again, how much the people of this loud, harsh, grimy city can look after one another when the chips are down and come together for the greater good.
My hope for the future is that we're all able to remember that going forward.

Glasgow has shown its true strengths in the face of unimaginable horror & pain. Football is a minor discussion by comparison. Words fail me on a day when it should be simple what to say. My heart goes out to all affected by what has happened

Hibs 2 up after 13 minutes.
