Not that unusual, as I've said on thread many women didn't want women to have the right to vote.

Sad that people can't see themselves as equal :(

If some women don't want women to have the right to vote they should start a petition to get a vote to take that right away. It's kind of silly to me though because if you don't want to vote you don't have to...

Flip this around a minute. If Mozilla was an avowedly anti-gay corporation (however that might manifest itself) and Eich was pro-gay, and Mozilla was getting boycotted by fundies demanding that he be removed, wouldn't we all be frothing at the mouth at the idea of the company coming under pressure to remove someone based on their personal opinion?

    Two penguins from Dingle
    well, both they were boys,
    hold flappers so gently
    with love in their oys.

Ireland’s first gay penguin couple have set up a nest together in the country’s only gentoo penguin colony. The same-sex pair, Penelope and Missy, are exhibiting all the signs of a courting couple in their €1m polar ice home in Dingle Oceanworld.

They are following in the footsteps of a number of famous same-sex penguin couples including long-time pair, Roy and Silo, from the Central Park Zoo in New York City, along with a King penguin couple in a Danish zoo which became adoptive fathers to a chick from an abandoned egg.

The Irish duo are one of five couples which have paired off for the breeding season at the polar exhibition which mimics the icy conditions at the South Pole in the Kerry Aquarium. The head penguin keeper, Kate Hall, said same-sex couples are not unheard of in the penguin world, although it is usually two males who pair off.

“The ones in Central Park are icons for the gay community over there,” said Ms Hall. “They have a lot of fondness and affection for them. “It’s definitely not an unusual occurrence although this time it’s two females.”

She said Missy and Penelope have been displaying all the signs of a courting couple in their enclosure, which is home to a dozen of the black and white creatures.

“The thing penguins do to show they like each other is they bow to each other and they are doing that. “When they come into breeding season, they do it to the penguin of their choice and it reinforces the bond between them.

“It is very sweet to watch.”

Two different approaches to gay marriage and gay adoption.

In the British corner, stands the Archbishop of Canterbury who suggested that the CofE should take seriously the threats of retaliatory violence around the world when considering whether or not to support gay marriage:

In the Argentinian corner, stands president Kirchner who agreed to be godmother to the child of a lesbian couple:

If she learned about General Franco I doubt she'd use "fascist" as an insult.

UK - A teacher explains to a school assembly that he's gay, so he resigns after parents say that they don't want their kids to know that it's ok to be gay.

    http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2014/04/06/uk-gay-teacher-resigns-after-parents-complain-children-might-learn-its-ok-to-be-gay/
    PinkNews wrote:
A gay primary school teacher in Birmingham has resigned, after parents complained they did not want him teaching their children. According to the Sunday Times, Andrew Moffat was assistant head at Birmingham’s Chilwell Croft Academy, where he designed several pro-LGBT resources, including a pamphlet called ‘Challenging Homophobia in Primary Schools’.

However, after coming out in an assembly, and teaching a literacy lesson using a book in which a gay family attends a picnic, he was besieged by protests from parents. He told the newspaper: “I did come out at school in an assembly after a group of 11-year-olds held up a poster they made, with the heading ‘Gay is good’. It seemed like the right time to let the children know that they knew a gay person.

“Following my coming out, some parents from different communities complained to the school, but I maintain that my decision was the right one at that time. “Some Christian and some Muslim parents have told me they don’t want their children learning that it’s OK to be gay.” After the protests, Moffat resigned from his post at the school, and has since found a teaching post elsewhere.

A statement from the school said: “A minority group of parents objected to some of the resource books being used in literacy lessons with some of the oldest children in the school, which explored relationships in different families. “The objections were primarily voiced by those whose own religion took an opposing stance to homosexuality.”

And support for marriage equality continues to rise - since November 2012, when it was at 53%, to 67% now. Opposition to it has declined by around one third, from 30% to 21%.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/support-for-same-sex-marriage-increasing-poll-finds-1.1752448
Support for same-sex marriage has increased over the past 18 months as debate on the issue has intensified, according to the latest Irish Times /Ipsos MRBI poll. Asked how they plan to vote in the referendum on the issue, promised by the Government next year, 67 per cent said they would vote Yes, 21 per cent No and 12 per cent were undecided. The corresponding figures in an Irish Times poll in November 2012 were 53 per cent Yes, 30 per cent No, and 17 per cent undecided.

When the undecided are excluded from the current poll, the Yes figure is 76 per cent with 24 per cent No, compared to a figure of 64 per cent Yes and 36 per cent No in November 2012. The poll also shows voters are of the view that a traditional family of a father and mother is best suited to bringing up children by comparison with any other combination. The survey was undertaken on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week among a representative sample of 1,000 voters aged 18 and over, in face-to-face interviews at 100 sampling points in all constituencies. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 per cent.

There are wide differences in attitudes towards same-sex marriage across the different age groups and social classes. Younger voters are much more likely to support same-sex marriage than older people with support for a Yes vote declining steadily with age. Among the 18 to 24 age group, 80 per cent said they would vote in favour of same-sex marriage, 13 per cent said they would vote No and 7 per cent were undecided. This compares to 44 per cent of those aged 65 and over who would vote Yes, with 40 per cent saying they would vote No and 16 per cent undecided.

Women were significantly more in favour of a change than men, with 73 per cent of women saying they will vote Yes compared to 61 per cent of men. There is also some variation in class with 71 per cent of the best-off AB voters saying they will vote Yes compared to 62 per cent of the poorest DE group and just 40 per cent of farmers. There are differences too across the party political divide with Labour voters the most enthusiastic for change with 80 per cent support followed by Independent/Other voters on 74 per cent. Among Fine Gael voters the Yes support is 69 per cent, 68 per cent among Sinn Féin voters and it drops to 55 per cent among Fianna Fáil supporters.

The high level of Labour support tallies with party leader Eamon Gilmore’s declaration that same-sex marriage is the most important civil rights issue of the age.

Pfft. Means nothing. Wait until the decent people of Ireland see the way the liberal elite are bullying those opposed to SSM and switch their opinions in time to defeat this outrageous intolerance against bigotry and prejudice. You'll see. You'll all see!

He abused his position in the school to promote his politik to children, knowing that the idea of sexual immorality matters to many parents and that they would not like their children learning that sex outside of the context that God intended is perfectly acceptable. I would certainly welcome his resignation if he refused to just do his job and insisted in using his position to promote his politics to children.

Oh boy. I have so many problems with your post, I'll have to just focus on your first sentence.

No. Just no. He was honest enough a person to tell the children he's gay. Promote his politik? What does that even MEAN in this context? The man told children he's gay, that's all. It's criminal to even think that's wrong IMO>

On his first live phone-in on LBC Radio, Archbishop Welby spoke about a trip to Africa, and recalled visiting a grave where 369 people had been buried.

He said the victims had been killed because local people believed allowing a Christian community to exist would mean "we would all be made to become homosexual".
Looks like this guy is marketing his company to sell the product by trying to appeal to the larger audience to me.
    Matthew 5:10
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
    Must be a context issue.

It's at times like this that I am literally filled with joy that the world is steadily giving less and less of a f*ck about whatever hangups your imaginary friend has with sex.

If you want to have your sex life dictated by the constraints of bronze-age mythology, knock yourself out. It must really upset you that it's becoming less acceptable for you and yours to impose those constraints on others, but that's not an idea that troubles me one iota.

He was public regarding his sexuality and was supplying pamphlets about challenging homophobia in schools as well as using a book that had gay parents in the story.

What about children of same-sex couples? Why does homophobia trump being more inclusive towards gay students or children of same-sex couples?

If you can read this, you're too close!
