When you arrow into a text field in enigma2... 'PAGE-' deletes characters to the left and 'PAGE+' deletes characters to the right.
To delete all the text at once... arrow up to get out of the text field then arrow back down into it so that it is all highlighted then press '1' on the remote.

Folks. I have finally gotten around to downloading the Hyperion 4 image. However none of the channels are viewable. I keep getting a "Tune Failed" message. Also if I use AutoBouquets or CrossEPGDownloader it is just hanging at the "Download" status.

My previous image was working this morning so the connections to the dish are fine.

Any ideas? I can get TSMedia working so the box is connected to the internet.

EDIT Ignore the above. I can get the channels now and Autobouquets and EPG Downloader working but I cant view any of the channels. I can only hear them Aghhhhhhhhh. HELP

Have you downloaded your own fresh hyperion image or a backup from this site. If your own have you configed the tuners?
If a backup from here have you a USB stick in receiver to allow for the swap file. If no usb stick installed with some backups it can effect settings. Install usb stick and hard reboot receiver. When rebooting the text on front display should say something like "creating swap file" if it does not, try different usb stick.

Ok. Its a back from here. I had a USB stick installed. Swap file did come up on display when I turned on the box originally. Can hear all channels now but cant see them. If I go into RTE Player or TS Media I can see the menus but if I go to view anything I just get sound and no picture. I thought it might be the HDMI settings so I went into AV settings and tried all the HDMI settings but still no joy.

All is good now Put the USB stick back in and hard rebooted. We have Vision. Thanks a million for your help.

Good. It's only the handshake between both the box and tv that was wrong. Turning off both then booting box first then the tv work for me.

I've been using spark the last few days and although the epg is awful the channels have been stable. There is a minor gripe though. When I go on a $channel it will freeze and scramble after around 5 seconds. It will stay like that forever if I leave it. But, if I go up a channel then back a channel it will clear like normal and stay cleared.
Anyone else has this or any suggestions about what's happening?

Mine doesn't do that all the time, but on the odd chance it doesn't clear, going up and down a channel normally does the trick

It doesn't happen in enigma image. It's a shame more time and energy wasn't spent on the spark side of things. It has real potential to be a nice image. If it had cool tv and autobouquets I'd change to it permanently.

I bought the box just prior to the London Olympics and so the six months following, all we had was Spark. There were several basic things that were broken or just crap. All efforts were being put then into extra features rather than fixing what was there.

So Enigma provided s route for some skillful programmers to develop clever plugins to bypass the Spark stuff.

Seriously, I seriously doubt you'll find one single person who bought this box with the intention of running Spark. I personally saw the Linux badge and hoped that the boxes' potential would be unleashed.

Spark was pretty much essential to have on this box as a backup with the version of Enigma 2 on SH4 boxes being a ported version, not the original Enigma 2 image which are designed for MIPS based boxes, it was unclear how reliable the enigma side would be.

As it turned out, the E2 images for the Alien 2 have become very stable so it has rendered Spark obsolete for most users with the vast advantages enigma offer.

other tips for spark in your storage delete anything in your Recycle bin in your storage

turn off the web server if your not using it

and powering on and off everyday helps aswell

Would you expect to reboot a Sky box daily ? Spark is supposed to be the base platform and so should not require such maintenance to perform adequately.

It certainly seems to me that you now have a far better opportunity with Enigma to combine stability and basic functionality before the added benefits of streaming, remote access and timer programming, 7 day epg and oscam.

spark has 7 day epg , oscam / or oscam ymod via emu, there is an android app for remote access. certainly less crashes than enigma 2 . streaming is available via the webserver as are other options . you can also switch hard drives easily without rebooting . and ntfs is available to use and only your image has that in enigma 2

Using the Hyperion 4 image since I installed it on Saturday and I love it. Only crashed once (when searching for a program on RTE Player) but apart from that it has been rock solid.

Had my first issue with Fresh Pots' Hyperion 4 image (March I think). When I pressed the pause button on the remote the picture just froze. Turned the box on and off a couple of times, no joy. Will have to reflash the image. Strange one.

If I remember correctly, Fresh Pots has a more recent Hyperion 4 image???

Okay, serious now. What happened when youturned on and off the box? Did it get stuck? Not boot?

I always plug out any set top box at night ,I dont see the point of leaving it plugged in
It seems to have served me well as every receiver I have had has had a long and healthy life.

Yeah 'THE BOX' froze, I turned it off and on a couple of times but when it got to 'START' it just froze, I switched to Spark because it was late last night and I just couldn't be bothered trying to sort it out. I will try starting in Enigma when I get home and I'll see what happens.

Did you make a backup? Saves alot of messing

When you have it back to the way you are happy with it do a backup , then if it should happen again it's an easier fix!!!

Do a "search the thread" for freshpots image H4.

Have you turned off and on all?
Have your tried a different HDMI/scart?
Have you tried it on a different TV?
Is your EPG set to update each night?
If so, is it saving to an external HDD?

thanks not sure if thats image i am ussing,my one says back of e2 on folder,
not easiest place to find your way round on here i just tried downloading one from march but couldnt get to link dont know if its cos i havnt contributed enough comments in threads . any help appreciated
