Why dont you add the Saorview frequencies via Dreambox Edit to your bouquets ?

I did, makes no difference, it'll only pick up one mix at a time no matter what.

    Oh ,that's weird.
When you say it will only pickup one mux at a time ,do you mean you can only watch one mux at a time or just one mux full stop ,i.e second mux never available ?

Tried taping 2 channels tonight ,one on satellite and one on Saorview whilst watching a third channel on Satellite but the box was struggling to cope (Hyperion 3).
I could only watch the 2 channels I was recording after a while, fta channels wouldn't even work.
I stopped one recording but could only watch the other channel that was recording ,other channels said no data found on transponder.

I have had issues anytime I tried to watch 3 channels simultaneously before on numerous different images and 3 different hard drives.
Not sure why it happens but taping 2 channels and watching a third seems to beyond the limits of the receiver.

    Hi all

I've just uploaded a new copy of my Image using the Latest 16 Jan OpenAR-P image. First of all, I haven't managed to get it to Green screen once all day.

There are a few differences to the image I had before now. Gone is OpenWebIf and they seem to have standardized on WebInterface. I have added the Swap File as suggested by @JORY.

The big difference I noticed was that when doing a manual scan of Terrestrial, you specify the UHF Channel number !!! So maybe something has been re-worked.

So if anyone out there is really wishing that they can finally get AR-P to work for them, there is a real possibility now.

Finally, I have sucessfully played both AVI and MKV files !!!

Could this finally be the ultimate, all doing, version of Enigma2 for the ST7162 Based Boxes ?

    is there a skyhd skin?

One mix full stop until I switch off the box at the switch, then the next time I turn it on it might be the other mux working

I'm running Championc's AP-R, but I'm having a problem with the hdd not being writable. I was running Hyperion V3 without any problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Yes, I experienced the same issue. The issue was my hard disk needed to be mounted as /dev/sda5 and not /dev/sda1.
Champions image mounts the external hard drive to /dev/sda1 using settings in the /etc/fstab file which was not compatible with my hard disk.

    Try the following:
    • Check where Open Ar-p recognises your hard disk.
    • Using the Putty application connect to the box using the Telnet connection type.
    • Then enter the following command: fdisk -l
    • This will display the external hard disk information which you need to change in the /etc/fstab file. The hard drive partition will be displayed as: /dev/sdaX, where X will vary depending on your hard disk.
    • Then edit /etc/fstab using one of the following applications: putty using vi or use Filezilla or Winscp... - Edit the /dev/sda1 line and change the value to dev/sdaX .i.e. I had to change /dev/sda1 to /dev/sda5.
    • Reboot.
Note the hd mount plugin may also do the same job for you as above, however I have not verified.

Hyperian V3 or V2 for that matter not great for recording but very stable.
AR-P much more friendly for multiple recordings.
It's really what u want the box to do which image to use.

Excellent, I'm going to try this with XBMC and see. I've been using XBMC for the last few days with the VU+/Enigma2 pvr backend to simply use the Alien as a tuner.

I'm using it as my main HTPC, passes the family/visitor test straight away.

I'm also using another install of XBMC on my laptop, so I can keep an eye on the rugby etc when Cbeebies has taken over the Living room TV.

There's far better support online for XBMC than for E2, Try it! You won't be disappointed!

Anyone running XBMC on a Raspberry Pi ? Just wondering if it really has enough grunt.

Also, am I correct in saying that streaming from XBMC uses far less bandwidth (like uStream) than streaming from the box now which would then allow you to watch a HD channel over 3g or over wifi when abroad ?

Again, being a newbie, how do I overwrite the image, is it the same as when you install an enigma2 image for the first time?

Yeah, use the spark plug in.

As far as I can make out, the XBMC takes the full stream directly from the tuner, so watching a HD stream would be difficult when abroad.

I'm currently using a Dell Optiplex 755 which is probably heavy on electricity. I'm on the look-out for a very low power PC or an android device - the Pi in my opinion is expensive enough by the time you have box, peripherals, IR Receiver, storage etc added up. There is any number of Android devices available which are just plug and play. (I'm watching Adverts.ie at the moment)

One thing @championc, I wonder why they dropped OpenWebif ? It may have optimisations specifically for XBMC. Have you tried running XBMC yet with your image?

Last time I tried to run this my AA2 worked at a snails pace,

I have xbmc running on a pc , raspberry pi and ouya.

Using raspbmc on pi , menus can be slower but no problems with video playback. Ouya is my first choice. Quick and stable.

But whenever I use Aa2 as backend I get major lag.

I thought that an xbmc server would re-encode the stream into mpeg2 or some other, thus reducing bandwidth

And @phobia, are you running all those as servers ? My idea is to run a pi as a server but the storage is the aa2 box hdd samba share or am I looking at this the wrong way ?

XMBC is a front end for displaying the stream ...... it takes its feed from a backend which communicates with the tuner/s.
I would think it is up to the backend or some other mid-stage to re-encode the stream from the tuner ......

XBMC has built in add-ons for various backends ..... I use tvheadend for this on my LAN.

Of course a set up using the Amiko tuners probably means whatever the Amiko has to connect to the tuners would be used.

Ok. But could I just setip a pi as a server and then have other devices as clients ?

no optimizations done for XBMC, no work done for xbmc at all

Difficult to watch abroad, as in expensive to have that bandwidth available .. roaming etc!

Why not just install XBMC on the other devices also? Takes 5 minutes to install & configure. They all have the VU+/Enigma2 backend plugin preinstalled, just need to point them at the Alien.

    FYI folks:-
Trying out Champs latest offering. So far, so good. Only minor snag is green screen when trying to configure Cooltvguide directly, OK when done through plugins menu.
Thanks Championc for your hard work.

Was using TechGuys last one which is rock solid just a tiny bit sluggish in comparison to AR-P.
