Oh we were well ripped off especially compared to the continent and the UK. Ireland paid a big premium on games and consoles when we had the punt. It seems the tables have turned now and we are paying less than the sterling price but still being ripped off by japanese and UK standards.

Right, see I've always believed that - what with the small population and I figured the best that an Irish consumer could hope for was "shafted, but not badly shafted".

But I've never seen actual evidence of it in print - no consumer affairs stuff, nothing. I've always assumed the worst, but looking at the US launch prices for consoles I'd always assumed they were massively different to that too. So I already know I'll almost certainly have gotten some things wrong.

Also, am I the only one who remembers Streets of Rage 2 coming out at IRL £60 or £70 around its launch in GAME on Grafton St? I'm not misremembering that, am I?

Different artwork for US and EU boxes. I never bought a Japanese one though.

I hope people aren't expecting ultra high end graphics in Black Mesa.

Quick video of the first minute or two of Black Mesa with all settings maxed out.
Video is a little jumping because of the video capture software having to drop the frames to 60fps @1080p while the game runs at well over 500fps(although I only see about 120fps on my monitor as its 120hz). When running normally this runs buttery smooth and I think it will be like that even on slowish machines as there isnt a lot going on graphically by todays standards.

    Edit:
Files should be on the server in an hour or so in case anyone is waiting on them for a direct download.
I'm just zipping them up at the moment.

That's not that railway simulator we saw in Dino's gaff is it?? ;)

Honestly though, it looks pretty great and I am well depressed that there is no way my PC is going to run it like that :(

That said, maybe I might see a XBLA version some day.....

I don't think its very resource intensive so you might be able to run it without issue. My graphics card is reporting back about 10 percent utilisation with it running on max settings.

Ok, files are on the server.
They will be there until tomorrow or until the amount of bandwidth I've assigned them runs out. So grab them asap as I've only given 500GB of bandwidth to them and that will be shared with another gaming website.

7 rar files for a total just over 3GB.

It's my old one. I upgraded to the G19 and also the G13 gamepad thing.

I really like them, but they are ugly yolks really.

New Obsidian kickstarter project looks great. Hopefully it will be the first obsidian game with the budget and time frame that the guys deserve.

    Download done, thanks Steve!

That Obsidian kickstarter thing is worth funding if you want the final game on Steam for $20.

For $1,000 you could try and get Old Man in Cinema immortalised as an NPC however.

Project Eternity its called by the way. Scheduled for release April 2014. So a little bit sooner than the title suggests.

Only installing Black Messa now. I was a little tired from all that downloading and needed a lie down.

Oh and here's another fun graph:

This from the same source? The last graph was US regional data and called Sega's 4th gen offering the Genesis, this one is presumably worldwide data and calls it the Mega Drive.

Since its in English it has me wondering where its from and the date of its sources, and if there's additional data on the, ahem, less commercially successful console offerings that appeared along the way.

Someone in the design department of Warner Bros. Interactive is either incompetent or basically trolling, because this is one of the most appalling covers I've ever seen.

    Pretty sure it's worldwide sales.

Anyone figure out where the hell the crowbar is in Black Mesa? Why would they move something like that?

Dammit! Seriously considering shifting all my pal Snes games since I went NTSC.

An official Harry Potter game for the Kinect?
Won't that undermine Sony and their Rowling authored spell book and Move peripheral?

I'm in the market for a MINT Link to the Past if you're unloading a PAL one.;)
    Maybe some others too:D

Some lad was selling wild guns for the snes on adverts for 40e , I offered asking and he won't take it, just seen the same cart up on ebay

Fair enough he didn't realize it was so rare but people should do there research before selling games imo, very annoying for me as the game is ridiculously hard to get

So far, after searching the house, I have the box for that game. I am struggling to find the cart. :(

I remember it being in better nick than the one that is currently being offered on ebay. If I can find it, I'm selling it! I'm also fairer with the cost of p&p.

If I do decide to have a clear out, I'll be putting a link up in the auction thread.

    Cough =P

    Seriously tho I wudent bother

If you mod your ntsc console you`ll only notice slowdown from pal carts in the dkc games ( rare optimised them for 50hz ), street fighter alpha 2, megaman x games and castlevania 4 ( thats from my experience ! )

    Keep them mate!
