Gamestop dumpster diving. Apparently people are finding a lot of good stuff in other videos:

Anyone recommend any decent shmup's for the ps1? have R-Type Delta and Einhander, did any of the Donpachi games ever get a ps1 release? shoot ALL the things.

Raiden DX and The Raiden Project.

G Darius is great, and cheap too.

I second G-Darius as well, it's arguably the best on the system along with Einhander and R-type Delta. Darius Gaiden is excellent as well.

Soukyugurentai is on the PS1 but really you want to play that on a Saturn.

Raystorm is great. Rayforce not so much.

Donpachi and Dodonpachi are on PS1 and for some reason manage to be slightly better than the Saturn ports.

I second the Raiden recommendations but particularly Raiden DX, it's amazing, and a picture, perhaps, of the zenith of shmups before Cave and the like changed it all, and not always in a good way.

And, just for those of a particular era, here's Zenith....

I lost about ten hours of a twenty-four hour period to that game when I installed it. That never happens.

I haven't allowed myself to play it since. Digital crack cocaine. Sweet, sweet crack cocaine.

Digital crack cocaine. Sweet, sweet crack cocaine.

It really is. I only saved my game about ten mins ago to take a break & I'm already starting to get twitchy and starting to sweat. Its fiendishly addictive.

Speaking of crack cocaine, I was just rooting around for something and came across my old MGS2 demo disc. Man I spent way too much time stealthing my way around the deck of that rainy ship! Not that the PS2 had much else to offer around then ;) (Z.O.E.? What's Z.O.E.?)

If you had the ship section on demo, then there was probably no reason to buy the full game :P

I did the same with the MGS1 demo which came with the official uk ps magazine. Blew my mind so it did. I think that was probably the most excited Ive ever been with an impending game release.

That f*cking Raiden, what a twonk.....
And the bloody sneaking around that sh1tty Big Shell, what a load of cobblers.

I remember that well. I replayed it so much that I must have put more hours into that demo than I did the full game.

Rose: Jack, do you know what day it is?

Me: FFS, the way she keeps asking that you'd think he forgot their anniversary of something.

    8 hours later.

Me: Wha?!? He actually did forget their anniversary?

Also Jack and Rose as a reference to Titanic ffs! And people wonder why Kojima failed at being a scriptwriter.

There's a very good reason Audrey Kakou said it was the worst script she ever read when she was localising it :)

^ sure is, you'd be amazed how much cheapo made props wind up in movies. You know the end of Aliens during the scene where Ripley is fighting the queen and opens the doors of the ship so it gets sucked into space? if you look real close as Sigourney Weaver hits the button to close the doors they're actually the buttons from a fruit machine, it even says HOLD on them. :pac:

Thank christ someone else agrees, the MGS scripts have their moments but they're full of absolute self indulgent tripe for the most part. Rambling conversations about nothing interesting that go on and on and onnnn... Kojima isnt anywhere near the writer he or his fans think, a great ideas man though, he's like the George Lucas of video games :pac:

Fed up with that guy from adverts telling me that there's a problem with my TV and not the 3DO so have reported him. Having a really bad few weeks of stuff not arriving as well :(

    And on your birthday aswell!

    tumblr_lgtvb2poxX1qd8ocoo1_400.png

Just got a text off parcel motel saying I have an oversized package...so had to pay another €10 to get it sent to me directly.

And it was still cheaper than getting it sent from England straight to me....:S

Just beat Mass Effect 3 and I really don't see what the big fuss was over the ending. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't horrendous either. I was expecting something on the level of Halo 2. What I got was something that was meh.

Now I'd understand if the level of writing and storytelling in Mass Effect was amazing up until that point but really it wasn't. It's a story that's been repeated in gaming as well as literature and film loads of times. An ancient race wiped out by ancient evil, ancient evil comes back to destroy everything. That's the plot summary for Shining Force 2 but you can apply that to Mass Effect as well. I think it's more a case of people taking something that wasn't that well written, elevating it to standards that it never achieves in their mind and then inevitably being disappointed when it delivers an ending that is really in line with the quality of the writing throughout.

I hate to say it but there's a lot of immaturity within the gaming community with some ridiculous entitlement issues.
