One film? That is tough. I would have to say American Movie. That's such a poignant and funny film and it's real, to the extent that a documentary can be. For anyone who has not seen it, it's a documentary about a 30 year old ambitious amateur film maker from snowy, slushy, small town Wisconsin who dreams of making the great American picture. The trouble is he hasn't really got the talent to do so nor the money, but he has got a loyal set of friends and the ability to blag. We join him as he realises that he has not the money for a big feature and must instead finish off his 30 min. direct to video horror thriller entitled 'Coven' in the hope that the revenue from sales of that will finance his intended masterpiece, Northwestern.

    It's just a brilliant film.

The Royal Tenenbaums for me. I've found that it can be a bit divisive - some people love it and some hate it. Personally, I really, really love it. I just think that Wes Anderson has a really interesting way of looking at the world. I'm always interested in films that deal with family dynamics, and this is a particularly unique look at the dysfunctional family that manages to be funny, quirky and depressing at the same time. Anytime anyone asks me for a movie suggestion, it's always the first one to spring to mind and it's a film I could just watch again and again and never tire of it.

It really would be hard to choose just one, but I have an urge to watch The Running Man yet again (everything that was good about vintage 80s action cheese in one movie) :D

Wow 15 pages and only one other person has mentioned this film , and only said half the title in passing!

Jurrassic Park is probably my favourite film ever. I could well change my mind tomorrow but it will always be in my top 2. Seen it a hundred times and it never fails to put a huge smile on my face.

    Love it love it.

Tough decision really. Have many favourites, BTTF Part 1, Terminator 1 and 2, Blade Runner. But if I have to choose it'd have to be Raiders of the Lost Ark. Has all the ingredients of a blockbuster of old. Due to no CGI, great acting and atmosphere, music, cinematography, timing, the list goes on. Still amazing looking even today, I'm looking forward to the BR release of it.

Hmmmmmmm indeed, Terminator 2 is close to the top for me, same with Fight Club and Bronson.

Actually don't think I could pick a fav one really. It's like picking your favorite pizza, pizza is great no matter what!

    Brazil,

Funny, disturbing, absurd and thought provoking. The best thing Gilliam ever did and also love that most of the score is just "Brazil".

It had me at this scene

There are a good few films that I could put into my top ten: Shawshank, Forest, Snatch, LOTR's, Usual Suspects, True Romance, Grosse Point Blank...

But anytime Snatch or Forest comes on the telly - It is physically incapable for me to turn either of them off. Oh fcuk - how do I choose between them.

OK - I am going with.... Snatch

'Heat' with De Niro & Pacino.

Probably only one of the few occasions I have been actually amazed by something.

I'd have to say The Prestige too!

Jackman and Bale playing perfectly off each other surrounded by a supporting cast that deliver extremely well judged performances. Throw in David Bowie playing a mad scientist and some of Nolan's trademark narrative jumbling, it's just great cinema.

(Always annoys me the way The Joker never brings the pencil back in The Dark Knight, that's not a magic trick!;))

    I can’t believe Lawrence of Arabia hasn’t got a mention. Well, I haven't seen it mentioned anyway;

You have to watch the full director’s cut, including the opening score in 5 minutes or so of darkness.

Omar Sharif riding out of the desert to the water hole has to be one of the best scenes ever shot.

The whole film is breath taking from beginning to end. And Peter O'Toole gives the performance of a lifetime.

While I juggle around with answers such as the prestige, into the wild and, one which I only seen recently, V for Vendetta, I'd say on most days my favourite film is Almost Famous. It may not be the greatest movie ever made but its a great story, with great characters told from a great perspective and probably the only movie I could watch countless times
