The only Etrian Odyssey I've played is IV, it's such a good game.

Erin Odyssey is god tier. The only issue I have with it is its so good its hard to appreciate another dungeon crawler.

I really hope the series doesn't due with the 3DS.

Ever play Demon gaze or operation abyss new tokyo legacy? I had a tough time with them and had too give up! Demon gaze wasn't actually too bad once you grinded for a bit but stranger of sword city which I found really unfair compared too the other two I mentioned.

EO 4 did not have much grinding, unless you were doing it for money, from playing both games you mentioned EO is miles ahead of them in every aspect quality wise, if you have a good diverse party it makes the game a lot easier as well.

Yeah EO is so far ahead of every other dungeon crawler it's not funny. Those games you mention I do like but they are old school wizardry. EO on the other hand is wizardry brought up to a modern level while keeping the difficulty harsh buy fair.

There's not much grinding in EO. You dungeon dive then retreat/warp wire out. Rinse and repeat while opening up shortcuts, exploring new paths and getting a little further each time. In a way progress is very like Dark Souls although you won't be dying nearly as much (losing a lot if progress though is a danger).

If you need help debuffing classes like hexers are gloriously broken, in the early games at least.

You didn't bother with vita version? Any idea how much extra content there is?

Doesn't appear to be available anywhere, even Rice Digital(owned by PQube) who specialise in niche Japanese titles like jrpgs and visual novels.

It has a lot of extra content, thats why I waited for the PS4 version, new playable characters, dungeons, extra side stories and skills and a new chapter as well.

Yeah it is strange, oh well went with VGP for it.

    I started Persona 5.

Was enjoying it a lot until it became time to do the first dungeon, and I just hated the dungeon crawling/SP/health management. Whacked it down to the easiest difficulty and I'm much happier.

I think the easiest difficulty makes it quite hard to recruit more personas although you probably wouldnt need to. Still, recruiting and combining them is half the fun:)

Romancing SaGa 2 is getting a ninja release next week on every console plus a Steam and Vita release, the ROM was never translated fully, it is a port of the mobile version with enhanced graphics.

    Is it any good?

The original gameboy saga games are legit amazing. Really crazy and original and have loads of replay value while being only about 12 hours long. Definitely worth it.

No, it and every other SaGa game is the same garbage. Just complete random nonsense. How do you increase stats? Randomly. How do you gain skills? Randomly.

They usually give you 8 "different" storylines but they're all vapid uneventful nothings about completely shallow characters.

Unlimited Saga and Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song are two of the absolute worst games I've ever played, 2 is mildly better but not by much.

They are the later saga games which... aren't for everyone and I'd rank them as garbage. The first 3 Gameboy Saga games (known as Final Fantasy Legend) are genuinely brilliant. This game is the second Gameboy title. You are mixing this up with Saga Frontier 2.

Just want to quote myself here for being a dope, got the Gameboy and SNES games mixed up. I love the Gameboy games but have never played romancing saga 2! Sorry!

Meh. It can wait. If it's as boring as the first game I might not even bother with it considering the wealth of RPGs out at the moment.

Been playing some Xanadu Next and it's so much fun. Can't wait to play more of it. Falcom really are the kings of Action RPGs, nobody makes them better.

Tokyo Xanadu or Xanadu Next? Xanadu Next I think is PC only but if Tokyo Xanadu is better than I can see how it's your game of the year.

Tokyo xanadu, I'm hoping trails 3 will see the light of day over here in the West next year.

Pretty sure Trails of Cold Steel 3 will make it to the West. The question is when as those games take so long to localise.

I'd say we may see the PS4 versions of 1 and 2 beforehand. Should be fairly quick to do as there doesn't appear to be new content except for some tie in costumes from 3.

my PS3 just died and I've never even put in my copies of CS1 or 2! So roll on the PS4 releases
