I thought we'd be going Guard at #11 but now for sure we're going OT. We've all of a sudden got ourselves potentially 5 Guards from Troutman, Rinehart, Baxter, Dombo, Haslam and Molk/Clary. Dunlap is at best a RT so it's a rookie left Tackle we're looking at. Here's hoping Fisher drops. If it's Lane Johnson we probably gotta take him.

Knowing the Chargers we take Matt Barkley :D

Bushrod would have been a nice addition! Shame he went to the windy city!

Wes Welker signs with the Broncos, wow!

I wouldnt be too worried, If we played a tiny bit better last year we where a playoff team and that is simply because of Oakland and Kansas and getting four wins against them. I would be more worried about Kansas taking a win off us.

Be curious to see if we are interested in Kevin Burnett who was released by Miami.

Nice pickup, delighted we went nowhere near bushrod.

    Why the negativity around Bushrod?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

Because he's not worth anything close to what he got? Watch cutler run for his life again next year.

Im so high on Troutman, have not been as confident in a player since Donald Butler. I think he can be pro bowl level. :)

Four or five signings already and I would guess probably another 2-3.
Be interesting to see what happens at corner.

Any particular reason you're so high on Troutman, i remember him being described as a project player who needed a lot of coaching to improve his technique

He is good in run, actually from what we have had recently, he could be considered very good.
He comes from a competitive division in college, never giving up a sack.
Ye he will need work, but I think that its his footwork that needs time not his hands.

Reason I like him was I didn't really watch college ball just odd game and commentators kept going on about him, so I watched him.

Similar to Butler too, played an amazing game against USC, was so impressed kept an eye on him.

I actually had to open up google to check if we had traded up when I read this post :P There's no way Fisher will fall to 11 and surely we'd be lucky to get Lane Johnson?

Lane Johnson will be there at #11. The question is if he, Cooper and Warmack are there who do we go for. BPA is Cooper imho but we are in desperate need at OT. Can Johnson come in and be that man?.

Nice to see the Cox pick up, day 1 starter if he can stand up. Preferred him over Powers anyway. Wright on the other side, Gilchrist in slot. Gatson only backup at mo though.

Now get Franklin back. Looks like Barnes and SP are gone, it means we need OLBs now too. Jeeeez so many holes.

Meanwhile the Broncos add Welker F me.

Seen Johnson mocked as high as 7th and Fisher and Joeckel gone before him, not at all guaranteed he'll be there at 11. I think both Guards will be and i also like Cooper a bit more but both will be very good pros. Still would rather not go G in the first.

Prefer Cox over Powers too, CB is still a big need but maybe not in the 2nd round now which will hopefully be either a top ILB or a pass rushing OLB.

Kevin Burnett cut by Dolphins, could bring him back as depth at ILB. If Te'o fell to us in the second should we grab him?

With the Broncos having a great off-sason, can't see us being able to compete with them next year but they are going all out to win it next season where as we're starting to re-build for the long term. They're only offering players 1 or 2 year deals, that's their window with Peyton

Nice post. As for Burnett, if the other Miami ILB Dansby would come for smallish dollars (he made 22m guaranteed when he signed his last deal!) I'd go that direction. Mind you Burnett has a yr less tread on the tyres. Wow if we got T'eo in the 2nd. We'd have either lucked out or made a big mistake, who knows?

You are so right about the donkeys giving their all for 2013 and 2014. Even more reason to stuff them then.

    Derek Cox new CB!!!

Roster really is starting to take place, Pass rusher and inside linebacker still needs. I think Winston will be signed up at RT.

At that point it is just draft the best player available.
Much rather Cox over Powers, also clear money not an issue with Cason, just didnt rate him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,286 ✭✭✭OAOB

I reckon Cason is going to go somewhere and start playing really well and charger fans will moan about not re-signing him but in fairness he never produced consistently for us so no point paying him. Reading about Cox he sounds like a real good player but injury prone, missed 17 games last 3 seasons so that's a definite red flag.

I like Winston at RT but with Dunlap signed it is not that high a priority, would rather spend money elsewhere, get a good LB. As Leslie says there is Dansby available but i think he'll get good money, Burnett would be a better value signing, not sure how he's been doing since he left SD.

RB is one of our bigger priorities now, sign a veteran and draft one, probably 3rd round i reckon.

Vollmer still unsigned :) I'd do cartwheels if we nabbed him!

He is more a right tackle though correct?, I think Dunlap will be our RT , maybe Vollmer can provide depth/cover for a potential rookie LT?

Gil Brandt has just said he has spoken to 3 agents and they are telling him the 1st wave of FA is well and truly over. It is now a buyers market and some are finding it hard to even get 1 yr deals for their guys. It means the likes of Cason and Ty Green are not seen as in demand. I'd be happy to have both back to fight for a spot in camp. Esp Cason, I think he has some skills and we're gonna need all the corners we can find what with what KC and Denver are doing.

It looks like everyone is waiting for Long to get his contract to set the market for tackles. Its been reported that he has left the Rams without a deal.

I think we are going to invest in a tackle, ive seen on forums thrown about that we still are between 10-11M under the cap.

Best guess is we are going to get a tackle free agent and then fill in the pieces for roster spots.
    Got to sign Alexander too.

Who are the Tackles still out there? apart from Winston and Long, the latter of whom is probably not an option for us.

Long, Andre Smith, Vollmer, Willie Colon, Winston,Bryant McKinne

Are the tackles left, well decent ones. No rumours or links except for Long.

Vollmer would be my pick of the bunch.

Saffold could hit the market if long goes tot he rams

Just signed Danny Woodhead, really like that signing. Would like Turner instead of Battle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 829 ✭✭✭Ronaldinho

Yeah really like the Woodhead signing - guess Ronnie Brown will be cut. I don't think I'd make the Turner/Battle switch. I thought Battle was decent last year in the role that was asked of him. He has the benefit over Turner of having a lot less mileage on the clock and being happy as Larry (i would imagine) with being a bit part player. And to be fair he had a similar average last year to Turner (3.3 vs 3.6) playing behind a worse line. Anyone know if Whisenhunt uses a fullback at all?
