Jack O'Neill from Castleknock named captain. Really must be a bright prospect for this season in particular

Two good tight-heads there, and very impressive loose-head. Great to see Leinster producing so many props.
Jack O'Neill and Cian Kelleher are the two guys I'm most exited about.

There was several games played this afternoon in annacotty(UL Bohs ground) today.
Munster u18 schools played english school side, Millfield School 1sts.
Millfield won this game on a scoreline of something like 19-5 but that scoreline doesnt say much for the game where Munster barely got out of their 22 in the match and couldnt cope physically with the massive english side.
IMO Munster A schools if given the same attention wrt training, coaching etc would beat the u18 schools
In game 2 Connachts u18 schools side played the munster A schools(side made up of players not in the top rugby playing schools in munster)
Connacht are a super super side, with some of the best offloading in the tackle ive ever seen at u18/19 level.
Connacht won this game about 35-5
In game 3 the munster A schools played Millfield Schools 2nds in the first half and this finished 5-5. for the 2nd half the connacht u18 schools took over from the munster A schools side and they went on to win 17-0.
I left then but Millfields 3rds were playing a north munster u16/17 youths side
Connacht are a super side at u18 level and their games against Leinsters u18 clubs and schools sides(Connacht basically have the same squad for both the youths and schools interpros) should be top class affairs

A great days rugby only hampered by the fact that while all the english school sides, the connacht 18s and munster 18s schools were all in official jerseys, socks, shorts and had warm up gear etc the munster a schools looked like a joke beside them with the kids wearing their own gear and were not even given the chance to wear munster jerseys for their game

You can barely guess with junior cup how teams will go in january right before the cups start nevermind in august when the schools havent even started back training
Wait until a few games of the Limerick schools league have been played and you may see how the limerick schools are doing. fixtures for tat league as well as the cup draws are available on the munster schools website http://www.munsterschoolsrugby.com/

All the irish u18 and 19 fixtures were released today.
the u18 schools side is not competing in the FIRA-AER tournament and the irish youths are back playing in the tournament after 2 years of the irish schools competing.
The irish schools will play the same fixtures as the irish youths did last season and will play a french u18 side and an english u18 side.
The irish youths play the irish schools on december 30th
the irish schools and u19s play england in dublin on match 30th and both will then go on to play france in france on the weekend of april 5th/6th/7th

Interesting piece on the back page of d'Echo re changes to Munster Senior Cup from 13/14 season.
Players will have to have been enrolled for at least one school year before they are eligible to play in The Cup.
May prevent schools enticing players in but unfair to a player who changes school of his own accord.

heard that yesterday and kind of agree with it.
the schools have always "raided" the u17 regional development youths squads and u18 provincial youths squads for players but IMO this has increased a considerable bit the past 2/3 years.
It stops schools bringing in very good players specifically for a year for the player to help win the cup with the kid repeating their leaving to play SC similar to what happened to several players over the years including Donnacha Ryan who repeated in Munchins and won SC in 2002
It will just mean the schools(rockwell especially) will start looking to the u17 development squads and look at those who are only tys and 3rd years when playing development squad instead of those in 5th year
This will really affect rockwell and the 2 cork schools more than the limerick schools like if you look at rockwells starting team from 2012 senior cup final and i think there was at least 5 who had only moved to the school at the start of the 11/12 school year

Big win for Leinster. Game between them and Connacht in few weeks time in u18 interpros should prob be the decider from what ive seen of the provincial sides so far
fox if you are going to the 19s game would you be able to tell me how sam sterling gets on? Not often a nenagh native is on a leinster underage squad
