There's a game on setanta now, is that the one you're talking about?

You can really see the work being put in to player conditioning in this game at ravenhill. Some of these lads are built like absolute tanks.

Saw Methody just after Christmas and they had the biggest pack I have ever seen at this level.

Red card for Rockwell 15 on Crescent 12 who should have got a red card himself a few minutes earlier or throwing at least 3 punches very poor from touch judge. 19-5 Crescents to loose now

I had that match on for a while and the 12 was lashing in big time with the digs. The tackle that led to the red card was IMO retaliation after the event. It was a definite sending off but the other player involved should have got admonished as well as he was part of it too. A good final and the better team definitely won on the day; the Munster Academy will do well with this crop.

I was told about one of the crescent back row fellas. Think hes been in the team a while?

    Just home from Thomond.
Crescent totally dominated rockwell who couldnt get anything in the game.
Excellant kicking from Lyons for Crescent both from hand and shots at goal.
Rockwell had fullback mcmahon off for tip tackle and crescent were lucky they didnt have a man off as well as one stage in the game. Game had plenty of niggle that threatened to boil over at times.
    Defence from Crescent was awesome.
Rockwell killed themselves with number of penalties they conceded.
Disapointed for Nenaghs Willie Coffey who played on the wing for Rockwell but he's underage for another 2 years so has another few chances for a winners medal

They should run a competition between the 4 schools provincial winners each year, for an all Ireland winner.

    Unless that already exists?

Doesnt exist but cant see it happening
It would be intersting but will schools change tradition to do it?
    I dont think so

    Why not though?

Would be great publicity for the schools.

There is the interpro series between the provincial schools teams every year so that is something. Agree it would be good to see the winners play eachother though

Was at the match in Thomond today. Fantastic kicking display and a very polished performance from Crescent. Great noise from the support as well. With a kicker as proficient as Lyons on the pitch, Crescent were scoring every time they got into the 22 meaning Rockwell were never going to win with the number of penalties they were giving away. Sending off ended the game as a contest with Crescent already 16-5 up at the time. Fair play to the Rockwell lads though, they continued to press til the very end, even when the result was miles out of reach. Showed great heart from them, having looked a bit lacklustre at times.

Irish Schools first game is friday against Georgia at 6pm friday night
England are believed to be favourites with Ireland close behind. Hopefully the squad can go on to win the title

So taking a quick scan of those names it would seem that performances in the cup had very little impact on the squad selection?

Yeah. Mainly based on the interpros and the squad that beat the Youths before the Cups started.
Others prob are involved and some players I have listed may not be involved

Yeah I dont think Tim Scmidt will be as he wasnt involved for the game at Christmas-plus he was mysteriously dropped by Terenure for their cup match against Roscrea

Wouldn't have Schmidt, Jager or Leavy in the squad myself only saw Lyons yesterday and he looked good but suprised there is no McKeown or Mckeever. Sean O'Brien and Ross Molony musn't be available either or surely they would be included

They mightnt be in the squad
Sean O Brien is overage. This is an under 18s team and O Brien is in the 19s squad for their 2 games against England and France

Ok thanks! Some great talent on display aroundthe provinces during the year and would expect both Irish teams to do fairly well. Who is coaching the schools 18's & 19's?
