Interesting, awaiting a call back from Denis Mahony in Finglas to try suss out what it might cost to get them replaced.

My Dad viewed the car this morning and these were his findings:

    1. Panel underneath the front bumper slight rusting (car is 1992 so to be expected)

    2. Left front wing appears to have been some old damage that has been beaten out, looks ok but not perfect.

    3. Brake pedal very hard and thinks that it would need to be bleed. Pads replaced recently.

    4. Only drove it for 5 miles and didn't get to take it for proper blast but he says that it was comfortable enough. Not strange noises or knocks.

    5. He said bodywork is as good as it can be based on the age of the car. No visable rust around sills ect but wasn't able to get down and look underneath the car due to the rain.

    6. In need of a deep clean on the inside but nothing I coudn't tackle myself. He says I really need to see it to make my own decison.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Going to try and view it tonight myself after work.
Asking price is €500, Dad says not worth €500, not as clean as it looks in the pics but at the same time not bad, with a bit of elbow grease it could be nice.

Once I find out about those pipes I will have to think about what to offer.

I am defo not paying any more than €400 for it.

    What car is that?

Fi: What RoverJames said. Hard to judge without pictures, but it mightn't be as bad as it looks. Generally it shouldn't be a hard nor expensive job, depends on the car though.

I'm gonna go with a Corolla.

But it's a mystery at this stage, she won't say. :P

I wouldnt worry about the radiator hoses, unless they are actually leaking or lumps are falling out of them.

Brake pedals on jap cars tend to be harder and start braking sooner than european cars, its normal unless u have a hard pedal and no brakes, bleeding would be required if the pedal was soft and spongy.

It's a very boring suprise but it's old and different and you don't see many of them on the road anymore!!! Well the newer version you do but not the old one.

I have 2 more quads (an eton 90 and a yamaha blaster) in various states of assembly, ill show you pics when they are finished

Ill post a video later of the predator running.

I was going to put the scorpion exhaust and the edelbrock carb on it for a proper sound, but with these on it, its pretty much unrideable except on a track:D

Cleaned out the throttle body well, took it for a spin and acceleration definitely picked up, feels like how it did after a spark plug change. I don't want to get my hopes up but I think it's also solved my flat spot around 1500k revs. Car ran rough upon start up and revved itself up a few times and had a rattle when revved after I took it for a spin but it's all gone now thank god!

    .... Wont see a 92 one of them :)

Went and viewed the car. She wouldn't accept my offer of €400 insisted on the asking price of €500! I told her outright the car was not worth that.

She said a fella from Limerick coming to view it. I giggled to myself they will start the bidding lower than i will!

Oh and it was a 1992 Toyota Carina II GL !! Kinda a bit let down it did need a bit of work but it was stuff i could have managed myself so would have been a nice project car!

She might well get the asking, rarity and all.

She might get it but its not worth it.

Fair few spots of rust on the body work. Bumper hanging off on one side. Passenger wing was a diy fix and rusting moderately underneath the wheel arch because of it i think.

Badly needs wipers. Bonnet half sprayed with something. Interior was rank needs intense clean.

Those pipes very very rusty i would be replacing them. Advertised 150k on the clock but its really 171k.

Simple fixes but they cost money and it brought the value of the car down. Ill put some pics up when i get home.

The search continues i really want one now.

I think i might drive out in the e30 to demonstrate to them that their car is not in good condition for its age!

The problem is they have too much sentimental value attached to the car as it belonged to the sellers father.

My offer will only stand for a a couple of days. And if they come crawling back i will offer them €350 :D

Jaysus those Americans are awfully touched in the mind! I'm half watching this show on National Geographic about people in the US who are preparing for an EMP strike, the apocalypse etc. The things they're doing would actually scare you!

Motors related: lots of cars are built in the US :pac:
