One difference to bear in mind, when comparing to last October, is that what caused a lot of local flooding last time was leaves falling from trees or leaves on the ground blocking drains. Leaves will not be an issue at this time of the year.
From what I can remember about 70 mm fell in a two hour period between 5-7pm approx, I doubt if that will happen this time?

From what I can remember about 70 mm fell in a two hour period between 5-7pm approx, I doubt if that will happen this time?

According to the met report posted above, 60mm fell at Casement in a 4 hour period.

I don't think we will see anything like those totals tomorrow. Occlusions swinging around the north side of a low can bring high rainfall totals but normally over an extended period of time due to steady moderate rainfall. These type of systems in general tend to be more potent during the warm half of the year.

Soil Moisture Deficits have dropped dramatically lately, so despite the below average rainfall over the last few months the soil won't be holding much of this rain.

They recorded 90mm at Dublin City Council offices/rain guage.

Hard to believe, but over a 48 hour period I recorded 125.3mm here () so I'd imagine higher elevations got even more!

I don't think were looking at the same sort of beast this week - last October really was phenominal.

Yep - got 90mm here on October 23/24 last; stream out back flooded lower end of garden - never saw that before!

I have the rain today premium app on iPhone for radar which is pretty good. Anyone know if the premium subscription to Europe is decent enough to be worth the money?

Centre now located near K1 buoy at 49N 13W est 976 mbs. Heading has been east about to turn more east-northeast. Much stronger wind gusts recently on Brittany coast (114 km/hr) and Scilly Isles (87 km/hr). Radar bands filling in southeast of Cork. Would expect the strong winds to hit around 0400h.

Rain has arrived here, oh wait a minute ... :o

Yeah very strange the way he just suddenly stopped posting, a real loss to the place, he was always right on top of storms

Some very heavy rain hitting Cornwall and Devon at the moment, I definitely wouldn't like to be outdoors on the east or south coast tomorrow, its looking like a downright miserable day with relentless heavy driving rain. Looks like we'll escape relatively unscathed around here thankfully

Not sure what level of rain the SE can deal with but it doesn't look particularly bad for flooding, some minor and lots of standing water probably with dangerous driving conditions but the south west of the UK looks like getting the brunt of it.
