Maxwell (eng) beat Selimov (RUS) at 60kg in a bit of surprise.

It does appear a bit of an anomaly that Britain can have 3 boxes trying to qualify. Should have only one competitor imo.

Jaysus taking Selimov out of it is a massive scalp for Maxwell.

I've a feeling the Brit's could take a load of boxing medals this summer.

Huge best of luck to all the guys, they've trained so hard for this and have barely been home since Christmas -does anybody know if there's anywhere to watch live please?

The semis and finals are on AIBA youtube channel, afaik no other stream.

Thank you but isn't that channel for uploading the fights afterwards, as opposed to live?

They ran live streams on that channel for the worlds and I think they showed the Asian qualifiers last week on it, from the semis onwards.

Nolan now 2 wins away from London. Next up is a young lad from Azerbaijain with little international experience. He beat a Bulgarian on countbakc affter it finished 12-12 today

    Tommy McCarthy wins 12-3 vs Bosnia-Herz (4-1,4-1,4-1)

I would love to see DOJ get thru. He's been so committed and hungry for so long. Been in every senior final since 2005 I think.

Let's spice the thread up a bit. You can only pick two to qualify. Who?

I am going with Ward and Hickey. Because Ward not only is a threat to medal, but he also makes for good fights. Hickey has the slick and neat style that could do well.

DOJ just isn't up to the elite level. Nolan is another that I cannot see getting at all far in London.

Barnes is always tough to beat, but I think Paddy is not the same level fighter that he was a few years ago. The intensity level is not as it used to be at the higher weight.

Hi heart and passion just wasn't in it I think. He left a training camp. It must be very hard to stay so hungry all the time. With respect, there is very little difference between him and DOJ. Neither are/were real medal threats.

you have changed your tune :p

Big big fight for Joe Ward coming up anytime now
