Poor Brock Lesnar, cheated out of a title shot. Thats the real fact that people are overlooking.

Don't worry, after what he did to John Cena I'm sure Vince will give him a shot at the title soon!

There is actually a case to be made for overturning that result to a NC. The random test that caught Reem was a condition of his license for the Lesnar fight after he was late testing.
. I know one condition was two tests after the fight randomly but I think I heard Michael Schiavello say he already gave those samples. I'm not sure he did bit either way it won't get overturn if he pissed clear on the night

    THAT'S his defense???
    Seriously??

    I'm lost for words.

That has to be a písstake. There's no way all that bullshít came out of his mouth.

    Important note at the bottom:

Editor’s Note: Neither President Jintao nor any other leader mentioned by Overheem could be reached for comment prior to the publishing of this story. Special thanks to America’s Finest News Source for their contributions to this article.

The Onion news network had a hand in this it seems.

One thing that has surprised me is that Dana is yet to speak more than a sentences or two about this. He basically said "I'm fcking pissed" and left it at that.
I just read a piece on BJPenn.com that says the reason that he hasn't spoken is that he knows he'll snap flip out. I hardly blame him. Basically sayign we'll ahve to wait and see what happens. I wonder what his best result is.

He's better off saying nothing till its known they can't worm out if it-from a business point of view he would be shooting himself in the foot if he said anything and then they found a way out of the situation

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

    Yeah of course.
I watch the post fight presser there. He was asked about it there too. He said once the Overeem is in front of the NSAC and goes through the due process, then the UFC will make a statement. But he prob won't be Dana making it as he'll say **** he'll regret.

It's a pretty bad business situation for them if Overeem gets off. They have to choose between blowinmg a massive fight and all that promotion and having a tainted title shot. And being public disrespectiveful towards JDS, the incumbent champion. To be clear, talking strictly from a business POV here.

Yeah good point I guess if the fight goes ahead Dana will be wearing JDS walkout tee in the crowd :) as its bad having him fight, prob worse having him as Champ for at least 6 months.

Loved what he did with thereem.com and the brock fight but hard to see how he isn't using peds so can't be cheering him on. TRT is such a pain hard to feel for the guys using it, still want Chael to win though :)

In the immediate aftermath, he shot his mouth off as usual, called Overeem a 'moron' etc.

And then Fertitta told him to STFU

What I want to know is, why aren't the "Free Chael Sonnen" people starting a "Free Alastair Overeem" campaign?

Because Overeem isn't banned yet. And most of the idiots are off campaigning for a Hunt for JDS adventure

In a statement recently, the NSAC have said that they aren't expecting a TRT defense. I'm not sure what dicussion has gone on behind the scenes, or what info they have that we don't. But I don't see what other plausible explanation there is.

I reckon he's gonna go for the Chael Sonnen defence:

The Nevada State Athletic Commission will on Tuesday vote whether Alistair Overeem gets additional time to gather support for his recent claim that a doctor-prescribed anti-flammatory caused him to fail a pre-fight drug test, or if a vote on his current license request is already in order.

"My assumption is that he'll need to explain why he needs a continuance," NSAC executive director Keith Kizer today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

If the five-member commission votes to grant him one, the entire matter will be pushed to an NSAC meeting in summer, Kizer said, and Overeem will be restricted from fighting professionally.

Overeem, who will testify alongside the doctor who gave him the anti-flammatory drug, isn't guaranteed a continuance. Kizer said the commission borrowed from Nevada's gaming laws in requiring a vote to delay. NSAC Chairman Raymond "Skip" Avansino initially requested Overeem to appear at the April 24 meeting, which takes place in Las Vegas.

If Overeem is denied a continuance, he's likely to answer then for the failed drug test that sacked his title fight with Frank Mir at UFC 146, which takes place May 26 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The pre-fight drug test was one of two random tests he was required to complete to fulfill the terms of a conditional license he received to fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 141. Earlier this month, UFC officials submitted a license application on behalf of Overeem for UFC 146.

Because Overeem is not currently licensed, he does not face an immediate suspension and/or fine. However, the NSAC could deny his license or sanction him in other ways if they determine he is at fault for the failed test.

This morning, Overeem broke his silence about his red flag, stating he was "completely unaware" that the drug he took allegedly contained testosterone, but admitting responsibility for using it to treat a rib injury that he said he suffered prior to the test that ensnared him with the commission.

"Although I was unaware, I do realize it is my job to know what I am putting into my body," he said. "I respect the Nevada commissioners and Executive Director Keith Kizer and what they are doing to keep the sport of mixed martial arts regulated and safe for athletes. I look forward to working with them in the days and weeks ahead."

It was at that media gathering on March 27 that Overeem and five other heavyweights scheduled to compete at UFC 146 were tested for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse. One test measuring the testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio of the athletes found that Overeem had a 14-to-1 ratio, more than twice the 6-to-1 ratio allowed by the NSAC.

"If the drug contained testosterone, it should have been known," said Don Caitlin, founder of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Lab. "And it should have been labeled. It's illegal to give injections of materials that contain testosterone in them unless it's a licensed doctor who knows that he's giving testosterone. But the world is full of doctors who are really not familiar with drugs in sports, and I've known many cases over the years where they have given drugs that were on the banned list without knowing what the banned list is or was.

"It's less and less acceptable to agree that the doctor made a mistake. OK, he made a mistake, but he's caused a great problem for his patient."

Overeem tossed a lifeline. Because it can happen, they can't prove it didn't happen

I think the solution to this is that he is out of the 146 fight but will get licensed for an august fight

So the results of the NSAC hearing are that his licence application was denied and he is prohibited from reapplying for 9 months from the date of the failed test.

Nicely in time for the end of year card (its backdated to Mar 27th)

really was bit of a farce.

essentially, overeem has had a number of musculo-skeletal injuries over the last couple of months/fights and has been taking ibuprofen (not a banned drug or PED) . on the advice of Tra Telligman he goes to see a doctor in texas named molina. Overeem does no background check on him, presumes he's a legit specialist and takes a shot of 'something' into his shoulder. According to the Overeem the injection (he took 3) contained testosterone and was probably aqua test (testosterone suspended in water). but he didn't know this at the time, he just presumed the doctor wouldn't give him stuff on the wada list because he's a pro athlete.

The doctor wasn't absolutely sure what he gave overeem and if he did give him this drug, he said it shouldn't have been enough to give him such high E:T ratio. Googling Molina reveals he has been associated with a number of dodgy dealings , botched cosmetic surgery, domestic assault, prescribing Vicodin and anabolic steroids over the internet.

The cmte essentially commended overeem for coming and giving a good account of what happened but encouraged him not to deal with sub-par doctors and other staff in future.

9 month ban, can reapply after dec 26th 2012. he should be happy with that.

really was bit of a farce.

    ...

And also it was revealed that he fled from the press conference (at 'high speed' according to Kizer :pac:) to avoid the random test and had to be ordered back.

Of course he had a perfectly reasonable excuse for everything, he didn't hear he was supposed to stay, he had a pressing engagement to attend to etc.

he can apply after the 26th but I doubt he could be sure of getting it through in a few days. Plus, he's not evens sure of getting it so would be stupid to promote him for a fight without a license.
