It won't hit a million tonight. 800,000 will be hit by midnight. You have ALOT of people today just getting it done today and ALOT of people saying they are going to wait a few days after then jut pay the fine if it's not going away. In 7 days time it will be around the 1 million mark

One little thing no paper or radio show I have listened to recently has mentioned is the number of houses in the census recently published

For people who might of missed this little bit of information in the 2011 census published recently. It says that there are now 2,000,000 households in Ireland. Not the 1,800,000 according to the Government figures regarding the Household charge.

Below is a link to the census results. Scroll down to page 17. It shows an increase to 2,004,000 homes in Aprils census.

This changes completely the figures. And more importantly the percentages of compliance.

Housing

Total housing stock

Housing numbers (dwellings) have increased more rapidly than total population between 2006 and
2011, with a 13.3 per cent increase in dwellings compared with 8.1 per cent for the population. The

number of dwellings increased by 234,562 from 1,769,613 in 2006 to 2,004,175 in 2011,

Whether you believe these figures they have being saying on different papers/radio shows is another debate, fact is out of that 2,004,175- over a million have not registered.

Scabby??

300 euro raised is 300 euro more to Crumlin and the sick childrens well being.

No donation is refused by them,they are not greedy and they dont look at the amount,they are just very glad to get the donations/money.

I didnt realize that 300 euro raised by myself from my local area was or is scabby??

But it obviously is to you.

Fair play to you for knocking my fundraising effort for very sick kids.

In fairness, the no side seemed to accept the figure of 1.6 million, while they had a commanding lead. It is only in the last few hours when the sheep started to close in that this desperate search to extend the total number began.


Edit: Also, the number now is 790,000. So only 10K to go! Sure that's only the number of posts in part 1 of this thread!

THE URBAN population has hit an all-time high with more than 2.8 million people living in towns, according to the 2011 census.

On rte radio during the week Paul Mcsweeny stated they actually don,t know the total numbers of houses, but anyone owns a house still has to register.

It's quite funny, given the amount of times they accused RTE/the Goverenment of massaging the figures.

The point is there is 2 million homes as calculated by the Census Board unless they have made a huge mistake. If there is 2 million homes where have the 400,000 gone? Even if they are unoccupied they are still owned by developers/banks/Nama.

Whatever the figures are, thats what they are. No one seems to have a definite answer.
