Currently my router is 192.168.15.1, and everything else has an ip between 192.168.15.2 and 192.168.15.255
Does the horizon box have an ip of 192.168.192.1?
    Can you change it?

Yes that is the default IP and yes, the range can be changed in the web gui under BASIC> Local Area Network

    Hi

I did a self install this morning and everything seems to be working fine except my sons xbox. Would somebody be kind enough to talk me through what I need to do to rectify this. The xbox is picking up the wireless signal but that is as far as we are getting. I am pretty clueless with all this but I do know the xbox can require particular settings.
Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

Where does the Xbox fail in its connection test, and what reason does it give for failing?

Think you need to look up your tv codes yourself via internet.

Think you need to go onto your pc, go to Http://192.168.192.1 user name and password are both admin. Go to advanced and enable upnp

It just says 'your console cannot connect to the wireless network'

Sorry should have added that this is after entering the network key.

I have mine up and running, had one or two issues, the wireless signal worked fine for phones but the Laptop could not see the SSID, fixed this by changing the broadcast channel to 11.
It froze twice on me, only way around it was to do a hard reset. Also found that when streaming from a laptop, which took ages to get working, if you fast forward, you need to space out when you push to get a faster seek speed or it stops seeking.
All in all I am happy enough but have found the remote to be slow and unresponsive sometimes, especially when use the home network media.
There is mention of a download for Twonky but it's not live yet, will probably go live after official release. At the moment I have to move any files I want to view/play to the predesignated folder on the laptop, ie My Music, My Videos, My Pictures. I imagine that when Twonky becomes available you will be able add in the folders from your laptop that you want to share.
USB connections are disabled for those of you wondering if you can put an AVI onto a USB drive and plug it in.
It is basically a suped up XBMC that has some features disable. Not complaining though, only stating what I've noticed in the last day.
It is a decent system and the preliminary setup is quite easy. The reason we have it is to test it so I suppose we can expect some bugs.

I believe for the additional boxes you just keep using the one you already have. So if you have one good one and one crap one, make sure and give them back the crap one.

Just to let EVERYONE know..UPC DO NOT want your old boxes back. You keep them. You can cancel the trial and revert to your old package at ANYTIME
If you're asked to return it REFUSE.
The text I got from UPC specifically called out the serial number that was on the Digibox and the serial number that was on the Smartcard that they wanted returned. The DPD courier had a pre-addressed/pre-formatted protected envelope to return the existing equipment to UPC. It may be that this process only applies to a particular type of install (e.g. a self-install).

My phone is working ok but the cordless phone can't see the incoming (calling) number, this worked ok when the line was hanging off the old UPC router. I'm calling from the same phone (my own mobile phone) as before so it's definitely the new setup, does anyone know if there's a menu setting in the Horizon box to accept caller id or do I need to call UPC to sort this out?

I was having similar trouble with my laptop and PC. I could see the wireless network but I could not get them to connect it.

It turned out that the SSID was too long (I've never come across this problem before). I simply changed the name of the network and it connected straight away.

Has anyone figured out how to use Favourites (as in TV channels) yet? It doesn't get much mention in the user manual.

On the old UPC DVR, you could be in either Favourites or 'All Channels' mode so when you pressed the left and right buttons, you either scrolled through every channel (All Channels) or just your preferred channels (favourites). Is there a quick way to flip between modes with the Horizon box?

I just called the support desk. Turns out there is a known problem with xbox and horizon that they are working to try and fix. It is a problem that only exists with a wireless connection. He emailed me a fix which I will copy and past here as it may help others.

Please connect Ethernet wire to the HZbox from your laptop

Go the the web page browser and type in this IP address:

    192.168.192.1

New page will pop out and use the following details

    username : admin

    Password: admin

    After that -

Go to wireless chevron and change the security for wep and change password.

There is a bug that will not let them setup a console,

Please inform sub they will have to change all there already connected devices too.

    I've just done mine

    In simple terms

1 Press the volume- button and then the top centre button for 5 seconds (together) until the tv power button blinks twice.
2 Enter your tv code from the list here https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/74897/253145.pdf using the digits on the remote.
3 Press the tv power button (top left button) until tv powers off.
    4 Repeat step one

I'll add one more to this,
Turn off the Horizon box before you start this.
It was the only way I could get the remote to work.

    That didnt happen xmas morning

4 bloody hours it took

    Phone now working
    Recognizes my media server brilliantly

BB speed still crap (70 out of 150) got on to them today and they are looking into it.Seems they found a problem on there end and hopefully it will be sorted in the next 24 hours

Always going to be teething troubles but twonkey is great for sorting media out.

Got mine up and running without much trouble, it was a self install.

Wired the box up, turned it on after about 15 -20 minutes I was watching RTE1, took about another 20 minutes before the rest of the channels were available.

Had to leave then and when I go home wifi worked first time of trying, speeds are OK, I'm getting about 40MB/s, of 50MB/s, on wireless, I'll try wired later on to see if I'll get the full 50.

I don't use the phone so can't comment on any issue with that, but I may set it up just to check that it works.

I spoke too soon, getting 7MB on the BB if I'm lucky rang tech support who transferred to self install helpline who then told me their systems were down and he'd ring me back in 15 mins. I suppose I should be thankful to be at least getting the 7MB most eircom customers are paying for that and getting 2MB. :D:D:D

You just go to network settings in the setup tab. Chande the ssid and then the password

Right, we're in action, for whatever reason I couldn't use my own router, didn't look into it properly so am using the horizon box. Nice plus is that it streams nicely from my dlna server on my ubuntu desktop. I had 30 meg bb and it still at 30 even though it should be 50, did anyone get a speed bump and if so how long before it kicked in?
