Ridiculous amount, the dog is wrecked after half an hour of chasing it. :pac: Saw a fork of lightning as well.

Seems to have stopped now but it was pretty much ongoing rumbles for at least 20 mins.

Loud rumble in Blayney just now, there was one earlier too.

Doesn't seem a particularly active shower.

Just back from Foo Fighters in Belfast.

We had an epic thunder and lighning show yesterday around 4pm, some rain with it too !

Got the train back down today too and the cells were incredible. A few of them off the coast were very impressive. A good few sparks too !

I've been watching cell after cell roll by west to east. Dublin 4 is always on the fringe. But the views are amazing. Just wish one would explode with some lightening.

I see Estofex has a Level 1 warning this morning for the SE quadrant* of Ireland mainly for heavy rain but the southern half of Ireland is in the 50% thunderstorm risk area.

... W/SW-UK, parts of Ireland and parts of NW France ...

A strong 995 hPa depression moves from Ireland to W-UK. Attendant well structured cold front enters the forecast area from the west during the day with a slow eastward motion forecast. A pronounced dry slot overtakes the cold front and assists in an active thunderstorm period mainly within the highlighted 50% lightning area. Those storms evolve within an environment with strong directional shear (e.g. 15 m/s LL shear and 200 J/kg SRH-1) and LCLs well below 1000 m. A few tornado events are possible next to strong wind gusts and marginal hail. The severe risk decreases after sunset although some surface based convection may persist over N-France. Strong shear still supports an isolated better organized thunderstorm event with strong wind gusts and an isolated tornado event. Hence the level 1 was expanded all the way to NE France.

An occlusion wraps around the depression's center with an augmented probability for training thunderstorm activity mainly over S-Ireland. Heavy rain will be the main hazard as modified subtropical air wraps around the center of the depression.

I also note Dublin AP is reporting Cbs observed at 0700.

    * Have been watching too many Siobhan Ryan forecasts! :D

Recent sferic north of Athlone (probably around the top end of Lough Ree).

As Iancar alluded to yesterday, if we could get a bit of sun out, could be another interesting day!

BEST WATCH FOR THUNDERSTROMS ACTIVITY IN THE KERRY to WEXFORD Region for the rest of the day if the post frontal cloud clears well enough . Some nice potential for funnels with LLS at 25knts . :)
HOpe to see photos later when home from work guys!!

Yeah, looking at sat looks like cloud might clear the south coast soon.

Nice little cell has got itself going just south of Wexford town. 7 strikes on UKMO detector (when I last looked).

Another strike inland in Cork (north of Youghal).
