My pebble blue version should be with me tmrw with a little luck.

What roms are people using on this? when i had my s2 i spent far too much time flashing different ones, so i just want something with some useful tweaks that looks pretty OEM, what should i be looking for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭fionny

I was the same as you with the S2 constantly changing / updating ROMS but with the S3 I have stayed with Stock since launch night. I stuck Apex Launcher on instead and beyond that I think it works perfectly,

Same here. Haven't even rooted yet and not sure I will. On my previous S2 I changed the rom with the weather. This one just seems a lot more stable and well thought out.

Yep, they score based on a number of things such as how long you've had your job, if you rent or own, etc.

I'm going to give meteor a shot and just juice up the application with regards to how long I've been working in my current role and similar. If the deposit is over €100 then I'll just pay the extra and stay with O2.

I had exact same problem with mine. Sounds were working grand for a few days and then they started acting up. Brought the phone back to meteor and they replaced it straight away. Have the new one since sunday and its working grand so far.

    Lads,

I've been dipping in and out of this thread to see whether the S3 is worth upgrading to from the S2.

All phones have teething problems and I used to be happy to be in the vanguard of exploring solutions but nowadays I just want my device to work well and deliver a long battery life.

For those of you who switched from the S2 can you let me know what the big advantages are and do you miss anything about the S2 or have any regrets?

    Ben

Can anyone help me out since emobile couldn't?

My video calls are not working. I have tried over full 3g, h+ and wifi. The person I'm trying to call also has full signal. Anytime I try make a video call it shows my camera for 2-3 seconds and then it just says that it can't do it and would I like to try a voice call. One of the main reasons I got this phone was video calling.

What phone does the other person have?

I was trying to call a HTC on eMobile and after a bit of searching found out that you can't do native video calling on HTC phones (at least on HTC One models)
I just use GTalk Video and the quality is excellent. It's free as well once your on a data package or on wifi.

The big advantage is the screen and everything has worked great so far on the S3. On the S2 I had lots of little issues with certain emails not syncing properly and calenders.

I prefer the shape (more square) of the S2 but the resolution on the S3 screen is great, webpages etc... are much easier to navigate.

Ah... there's your problem. I'm pretty sure you cannot do native video calling between Android and iOS (S3 to iPhone).

You'll both have to use an app. There are loads of apps that can do this now.
    Skype, Fring, Tango etc.

Have you found a fix for this yet? Happening me too.

Also, I have 2 Digital Clock widgets enabled on my homescreen. I work with a lot of people in the states so keeping track of timezones like this is useful. However, it doesn't seem to update itself properly, see below for discrepancy between the clock in the top right and the other clocks. Any ideas?

Can someone tell me the name of the widget widget above with the plane mode, brightness, gps? I can't remember it.

    Extended Control i think

Is there any launcher that will allow me to set a 5x6 app drawer, not just homescreen?

Zeam Launcher, leanest full featured ICS launcher out there
