Lads has anyone sent back their phone to HTC for repair? How long does it take?
My camera is blurry, I've tried everything, need to be fixed. What's the process?

I'd say you wouldn't need to read back much more than a page

Can someone tell me how to remove the calendar notification on the lock screen. I have something set for tomorrow and it keeps showing up. Can't figure out how to remove it.

    Settings-->Security-->Notification Settings-->uncheck the calendar option.

This will remove the calendar notifications on the lockscreen for good, if that's what you're after.

Lads I've been trying to figure out how to turn on the wifi-hotspot on the HTC M7. Anyone know where it is?

Settings \ More \ Mobile network sharing \ Portable Wi-Fi hotspot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,030 ✭✭✭Slippin Jimmy

Go to the home screen, drag down from the top, tap the icon on the top right of the screen, hotspot should be down on the bottom right.

Got it cheers folks! The last time I've used it they changed the location via the updates so it was wrecking my head to find it :P

My HTC One just came back via SBE. Screen and case on phone was replaced, no mention of camera being replaced for purple haze issue.
IMIE is same so it's not a replacement handset. Took a few photos and no purple haze.
Cracked screen and dent in corner all gone now :)

Just upgraded to M8 from M7, bought a 64GB SD card, works fine BUT it''s read only, do people think that's a bit restrictive for Android

Lads, what the exact procedure for sending the phone back to SBE to fix the purple haze issue?

I'm due my upgrade now. I was going to hold out and see if there was anything announced about the m9, but there hasn't. I was also considering upgrading to the m8. Do you find much of a difference between the two, anything not to like?

I've had nearly every HTC from the Hero though to the M8 now, they do just keep getting better and better.

Differences i've noted between m7 and m8, M8 is slightly bigger, nice metal case but using the gel case that came with it so that's irrelevent.
Also picked up a glass screen protector from ebay for 4 euro i think, .

Sound is better, camera is MUCH better with a few nice extra options (split camera, photo booth, pan 360)

Main biggie for me now is the external SD card, with the internal 16gb i'm now hitting 80gb, plenty of music (64gb sd from my memory for 25euro)

If i was going out to buy outright an M8 to replace an M7 at a cost of 500 (ish) i probably would stick with the m7, as it was an upgrade it feels worth it

I cannot have files from ttorrent (don't be getting all moralistic) going straight to the sd card, googled it and apparently kit kat makes SD cards read only

M9 will be announced and hopefully released in March.

Having just upgraded from M7 to M8 I can wholeheartedly say it's well worth the upgrade. The battery is waaay better, typing is far nicer experience, it holds well in the hand, camera is great with nice features, much more inclined to use BlinkFeed on this for some reason too!

Put a note in with saying HTC advised to send it to SBE. Then list the issues and your address and send it off. Make a note of your IMEI as you'll need that if you want to chase it up.

    You are half right.
kit Kat allows only certain (mostly native) apps or system programs have full access to the sd card. It's a security thing.

I've skimmed through the thread but just to ask are people happy generally with their M8s? Have a Galaxy S3 which wont last me until the M9/S6 are being released and I'm due an upgrade now. M8 is 100 quid cheaper than the S5 and from what I can see they're pretty similar in terms of performance. Not being able to replace the battery is one sticking point with the M8, do they generally last the whole day with a few hours moderate internet usage?

Also, any idea who gives the best value insurance around?

M8 is the best device out there, in my biased fanboy opinion :D

I would seriously hold off for 2 months until the M9 is out though.

My plan was to wait but I now know my current phone wont last another 3 weeks never mind 3 months! Realistically the M9/Hima wont be available here till late April or so.

My M7 is still going strong so I doubt the M9 would persuade me to upgrade to be honest.

The M8 was out late March last year.

You're not a flagship junky like myself. I can't know there is a newer version out without having it :D

Personally, I think the M8 was worth the upgrade over the M7. The button layout on the M7 was a huge mistake. Wake gestures and battery life improvement also made it well worth it.

I may consider upgrading to M8 if the battery life is an improvement and the button layout is a bit weird. When the M9 is released then the M8 should surely drop in price by then.

You also have to realise that M7 reaches end of life very soon. If will receive the lollipop update in the coming weeks, which is still Sense 6, but with only a few visual differences.

It won't receive Sense 7 when the M9 comes out, but of course the M8 will still receive updates for a further year.

Do you have a link that shows HTC M7 is EOL when it reaches the 2 year mark and why it would never receive Sense 7 when available?
