Hey guys. Been ages since iv been on here. I started my new job working in police station office n it's good but obviously wana get into prison service due to better benefits.

Was told by a resource PCO that Resource r no longer supplying this service at laganside from end of January so that would make way for the new NIPS PCOs. I applied for 40 and 35 hour PCO and would prefer a court nearer home in co antrim rather than Belfast so hoping I still get. I'm 265 on list.

Anyone else in for the 20hr post?

Hi all, I applied for both and am under 120 in the merit list but still not heard anything. Strange to see above that someone in the list above me is already underway for Millisle. I did ring them last week, but still nothing.....

I think it's only the 40hr pco who have started millisle at the min! Had you applied for it? You could always phone recruitment and see if they can tell you anything different

Yeah! I applied for all except the 20 hour. So that's both PCO AND CO I applied for....

Do you have the phone number for them? There's def people below you who have started training I think?! Maybe you'll hear soon about the other pco one. Did you get a medical date or anything?

Hey, I've already done my medical, over 2 months ago.... I rang again there but still nothing. They tell me they have not got that far down the list....

It must be just a waiting game then for you to get a call for a start date, the more I learn the more I go why oh why didn't you tick the PCO boxes, Christ I would've probably passed out by now lol

I know, it really is a waiting game.... I keep checking my phone! I think that by reading over these posts it's clear a few more people wish they had ticked the PCO box too, which is a shame had you had known the way things would pan out but encouraging reading here that CO should be underway soon.

That is so strange. Y arent they going in order. Another mystery from nips. Seriously going mad...hope after all this waiting we pass medicals and ctcs. I have spoken recently to two ppl working currently in nips. One a co and one a pco. The pco is currently waiting to transfer over to co and said this will b in Jan once new pcos r ready to replace those transferring. The co that I kno said he thinks they r waiting to see how many pcos transfer over to see exactly how many co they will need. This isn't fact just opinions of these ppl.

Hey I'm 265 on merit list, and applied for both jobs but it says it's for the PCO job. I already have CTC clearance for my job so apparently that speeded things up for me

lol i dont think they expect yo uto be super model size so no doubt u will be grand. I believe its extremly straight forward, like taking your height, weight and BMI and talking to their Doc about any illness you have had :)

Aw I really hope so, how long on average is people having to wait to hear more about the PCO after the medical? Do u know at the medical whether it's successful?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 Aoine

Hi Sharon, at the start of the medical when you are filling in the initial form, you get to tick a box requesting your result at the end of the medical. So yes, you do find out on the day if you have passed, if you wish. Good luck :-)

Awesome news Sharon, and good luck :) good to see movement, seems to be speeding up rightly now which is awesome, just bring on the CO roles lol

    So is this right:
    40hr pco - in training
    35?hr pco - training?
20?hr pco - receiving medical dates?

Co - postman stalking, tumbleweed spotting and going slightly mad

Hopefully if I'm slightly right or close then the people waiting for co may start to receive medical dates etc within the next month!

Could be along those lines, hopefully, and the CO will be soon, fingers crossed
