Im guessing the way things are moving it could still be the pcos at that stage! Wildrover, how many courses do you think they could train up there at any given time, maximum. I mean it's not like they wait until 1 group has left to start the next is it?

A friend who got in last campaign, said its like a week one after the other, done in colours or something, blue squad in Week 1, the scarlets in Week 2, so its kinda staggered, i'm literally off the phone with him, and he said, they are definitely getting more CO's as in a meeting he was in, he said they were told, that there will be a good more prison officers coming in, he's stationed in Maghaberry

If we had have known the way the thing was going to pan out I think everyone would have applied for all posts!! I asked about the CO's and she said there was absolutely nothing happening with them at all yet. She said even when they do get th go ahead it might only be for a small number of CO's so it's still looking like a long way off :(

I've my medical coming up very very soon! Just wanted to ask what we needed to wear to it, or what to bring

I received a letter in the post today inviting me to a medical next week, it states on the form that the medical is for PCO, I phoned the recruitment team and they explained to me that they are still only recruiting for the PCO roles.

Does anyone know how many PCO's they've taken on so far? and how many in total they are thinking, I coulda sworn I heard either on here or somewhere 100 odd, but just wondering if anyone knows for definite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 Aoine

I had heard they were taking on 100 approx PCO'S from recruitment team a few weeks ago but they were under the impression it would be a lot less for CO's but they weren't sure? Did I really read WildRover's post right that there could be four classes running at a time with approx 20 in each class?? Surely that would mean each week there would approx 80 starting which seems excessive. Or is it a case of 20 starting each week for four weeks in total making the number of CO'S required approx 80 in total?

Really hope they take on more co's as im between 150 &200 in merit. Even if we got forms ffor the medical stage it wud rreasaure us a little.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭HighburyLad

Is there not someone on here posted their merit number was in the early 300's and they were even told that that there was nearly double that in merit, im gonna go out on a limb and say I reckon there will be a good lot of people who will by the time contact is made will not want to go with job, whether it will be down to circumstances of other jobs or whatever, hopefully something happens soon, has anyone not contacted the recruitment helpline in a while, and maybe could suss some info out lol, I would but I contacted them recently and always get the same lady, who seems to pissed off every time I talk to her lol

Hey Chantelle just wondering what role/roles you applied for?

Have you received any forms after you got the letter stating you passed the assesment but did not score high enough to be offered a position at present?

I'm in the early 300's and had spoke to the recruitment team over a week ago, she had stated that there is the same number behind me on the merit list (600ish)

I think Chantelle might be in the same boat as myself and as others on here, I only ticked the role for the Custody Officer role, so the letter I got literally stated, while I have been successful through recruitment I haven only applied for the CO role, and at this time there are no roles for CO applicants only PCO roles, and that they would be in contact as soon as the need for CO appears, it kinda pisses me off a bit lol, I don't understand why they offered recruitment for CO's and only have Jobs for PCO's, I have been told that by family sources and even by the recruitment team that they will be taking in CO's it was just a matter of when, and how many nobody knew, so I have been under the assumption they will definitely be taking in CO's, i have yet to receive any letter at all, the last letter I received was in august just stating that, however hopefully wildrovers post is accurate enough, that would be major movement for the CO front

Hey guys just checking in with you all! I know yous are talking about merit numbers etc but as things stand aren't the pco applicants and co applicants all in the same merit pool? So don't forget when they take on the pcos that'll bump the likes of Chantelle, highbury and myself up the list for the co role won't it (those are just the names off the top of my head I know there's lots of us!)
I'm possibly starting another job soon, I have been out of work since having my daughter and just need to get back into it but if and when I ever hear from this I may feel slightly bad leaving another job all of a sudden lol.

Yeah that's what I've been told Craydon, we'll all be bumped up, well I know of someone with 139 in merit and they're about to go through Millisle and I have a merit of less than 60 so I sure hope so lol, and I'm kinda in a similar position as yourself I have an interview this week for a job that's pretty good more the fact my current job has literally become stale or should I say I have become stale working there, and I hate it lol, but I have this and I have applied for the psni but I need to be pragmatic so Im not left out, and I thought that if I were to get a call from either or, I would feel bad leaving another job so sudden, but sod it, I would do anyway I would be no different from anyone else if I'm honest lol
