Ditto, though I kinda wish I had just ticked the CO position only,but suppose beggars can't be choosers as they say. Like yourself I would love more clarification, even if it was just an idea of the number of vacancies available for each position etc or when we will hear if we have been successful/unsuccessful?

I only picked the CO role myself Aoine, and have a pretty high merit number and haven't heard anything since the letter to tell me to wait, kinda gutting, I did say on the phone to recruitment if I had known you could pick as such or whatever, I would have picked all jobs offered, but I didn't lol, do you's know what happens, if you pick the CO role over the PCO one? do you's go through or just wait until the jobs are needed?

Highburylad, so you have received a letter or something after you had passed your medical? Last thing I've heard is the Dr saying I'd passed medical last week so I'm none the wiser. I'm under the impression that they will be selecting the PCO,s first as they are needed more urgently but not sure as you know what the rumour mill can be like. Hate this waiting,not knowing malarky lol

Haven't even had a medical, got a merit number of 58, and have yet to get a medical letter or anything, a few of us on here are in the same boat, the last letter we received was the letter after the assessment center, saying successful but because we picked only one role we have to wait til that role comes up were bodies are needed

Highbury thats what im trying to figure out. How far down the merit numbers for pco have they got...only a few ppl on here are talking about medicals. ..sounds like they haven't even got thru the first 50 ppl yet. We r gonna be waiting a very long time I suspect. ..

Hi all, I'm in the top 100, not gonna be exact, but I'm placed high, I think you had the option to get a copy of your medical results posted out, I did, that's the only correspondence I received since my medical in the last few weeks. I have vetting etc all passed as well, it probably takes a lot of effort on their part to get through all of the applicants, they will maybe wait until everyone has done the medical then take it from there

At the moment they aren't giving the option of choosing roles. They are only recruiting pco and using the merit list to do so. Once they start recruiting for co they effectively start again and go down the merit list. That way it is 100% fair and merit based. That's what recruitment confirmed to me.

I'm possibly having a thick moment but would I be right in thinking that if we have picked both positions and the PCO position ( which from what i gather is their priority and first to be selected and offered) is offered to those highest in the merit list then we would be stuck with it, and then those much further down the merit list have a better chance of getting the CO position?? Hard to put into words but say there are 100 PCO positions, the first 100 on the merit list would be selected if they picked PCO only or both. So then say, the next 100-150 on the merit list would be considered if they had picked CO or both positions??? So in effect if you are further down the merit list you are in for more of a chance of selected as CO?? Dunno about you guys but I'm confused.com lol

They are going down the merit list to recruit the pco position. Those undergoing medicals at the moment are only doing so for the pco position and they will continue down the list until all positions for pco are covered. They then move on to co position and start at top of list again. So if they had 100 pco positions and some people declined as they wanted the co. they carry on until all positions are recruited. They then start again with the co position.
That's the way it was explained to me.

Just a heads up the psni recruitment campaign begins today, i know alot of us were thinking about it. we could probably all be retired with police pensions by the time the prison service decide to offer us posts lol

Yes. If you phone up Recruitment they will give it to you.
