I'm getting so fed up waiting and waiting if something just as good or better comes up I may well take it cannot wait months and months for this you'd think they would even get our medicals out of the way so as least we'd know if we has passed them or not. I'm training like a bitch possessed and so missing my treats !!! Lol

I would have thought you would have been well on your way to a medical. Disappointed that this isn't the case.

Hi all. Been waiting "patiently"for any kind of update or news back from prison service. Found this thread last night so I decided to give them a call this morning. Have been told I'm number 138 down the list and that they will be calling me for a medical in due course. Also the email I'm waiting for with regards to the CTC clearance should be here in the next 10 days apparently or I've been told to call back and they will get me registered. It's definitely a very frustrating process, plus I've just been made redundant from my current job so am even more keen to get in and get started, if I'm successful!!

Holly did u get the medical forms out in the post a few weeks ago? Just wondering as u mentioned the ctc clearance forms and im not that far behind u and ive not got anything yet.

I am getting fed up with the wait now. Seems completely unnecessary and a bit of a shambles since we are already about 5 months since original application.

I have a question that just came to me... if ur merit number is 200 for example, and u only applied for co, does that mean ur on the same merit list as those who have applied for pco positions? i was wondering because if they recruit the pco's first by working down the merit list then does that leave those who got lower marks to be recruited as co's

i hope that kind of makes sense lol

Every one is on same merit list chris. So I only applied for co so someone that has a lower mark cud get called ahead of me if they applied for both positions. Hope that makes sense

That's not what I was told. As its a merit list highest placed will be called first. As they filter down to co position they'll work down merit limit regardless if someone has applied for all positions. They will not get preferential treatment.

So if for example they have called 100 ppl for the pco position does that mean there is 100 ppl less on the merit list, giving those who only applied for co a better chance of getting the call?

Yea but if they aren't recruiting for co yet and I've only ticked it then they will bypass me to fill pco positions first if they don't get enough before my number. I can't be called for a job I haven't ticked even if I was number 1 on the merit list if u get me.

I think chris yea. If say I'm 101 and the first hundred all ticked for pco and took it I wud then become number 1 for co...that's my thinking anyway. If ppl take the pco then we will effectively become further up the list.

Yeah so they have bypassed u, and me cuz we only picked co. Does that mean the list is shorter now for those who only picked co? So if im merit number is 200 for example, i could technically be in the top 100 for a co position because pco's have already been picked from the same list?

I swear this makes sense in my head folks :-)

Lol yes well that's what I think. Those pcos will be off the list then so we will move up

Thanks chantelle... im glad u understood what i was rambling about lol well thats good news for those who ticked co only.

Don't forget they are not recruiting for the co position yet at all.
Only pco positions are being filled and they are working their way down list. So someone applying for all positions will not get preference over you for co position if they have a lower number than you.

Some nutjobs in this thread can't wait to get working in these roles.

Poor Papillion spent only 50 days in a cell with no natural light.
In Maghaberry they keep you until you go near blind (even before you're found guilty).
All the money in the World wouldn't pay me to do that job.
    Each to their own.
    Money talks I suppose.

Excuse me how dare you call us 'nut jobs' as far as I can see you seem to be the only 'nut job' as you like to put it on here, you are probably not even in this competition mate so why would you even be on here?? Each to our own choice of career but maybe we will meet you some day especially with that attitude you have you may well end up behind bars ! Nuff said asshole !

Don't think it's for you to decide who's a nut job and who isn't. Whilst you are more than entitled to your opinion the name calling is a bit of an immature low blow and not necessary.

Hi all, got my email activation link 2day to complete my CTC clearance. Am having problems with it though, doesn't seem to work on any of my computers!!! Anyway will hopefully get it completed tonight so at least there's a bit of movement with the whole thing! Chantelle I haven't heard anything about the medical yet - only forms I've received are the optical report & vaccination history, both of which I have had completed & are sent back :)

Taking the time at 5am to read through a nips recruitment thread (which you say you've no interest in working for anyway) seems a bit weird and I think you're the only nutjob here tbh. Its not prison staff who decide how long someones imprisoned for before they are trialled or released. And looking at some of the rest of your posts and the amount of time you seem to spend on here only backs up my opinion on you which I wouldn't have pointed out apart from the fact that you felt the need to about some on this thread. Think you need to get out a bit more.

Has anyone heard anymore on the custody officer situation? I emailed them on Wednesday but have yet to receive a response, I just asked whether or not they knew when custody officer intakes would be etc

Yeah i sent them an email last week and the rang today. Basically they r still recruiting pco's, they dont know how many custody officers they need yet, they dont know when they will know, they dont know how far down the merit list they will go for co's and pretty much prepare for a long process. We could get a call anytime between now and the start of july 2014 when the recruitment ends.

So no new information, and i was told no one knows as of yet how many co's will be needed but to give them a call every couple of months for an update.

I don't understand why offer recruitment for that role, but yet they have no idea of numbers etc, the prison service is going to need to get a grip lol, the psni is on the verge of starting a massive recruitment and people like myself will be going for that and hopefully I'm successful, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, and I guarantee there will be current serving officers within the prisons who will be applying too lol, damn it!!! why is everything never straight forward in this country lol the wait continues I'll keep everyone updated if I hear anything and if any of you guys hear anything likewise let us know :)

Just to let yous know I emailed them again but waiting on a reply not trying to scare anyone but I'm really high up merit in 20's and had applied for both jobs and I've heard nothing regarding a medical I don't understand what takes it so long tbh and it's leaving me that I don't know what to do regarding my other work as I can't plan for nothing

I have only applied for the co. but I'm high 40s on merit. Not looking forward to waiting on pco positions being sorted before they go on to co if this is the sort of delays.

    Crazy!
