Yes good luck and hopefully you get sorted soon.

Don't understand their position on merit numbers. Seems a bit odd.

Yeah I tried to suss it out in the phone, but it's down to those who miss medicals or don't show up to medicals etc, like I was told there's loads who can't do the first date they're offered and are offered a second and still can't to that date to which they move onto the next person, also those that were current PECS officers PCO officers, had the option to transfer over to the CO grades, so they were understaffed in those roles already and now more so, if that makes sense, so that's the forefront of they're minds as we speak, but we will get a medical date for the CO role eventually

It does make sense though coz most have to wait on their security clearance but some like myself already have CTC so the merit does kinda not mean much in the end as we will all progress at different times really good luck to us all hopefully I'm moving in the right direction now all being well

Fingers crossed. I have ctc clearance already too so hoping that speeds up the process!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. I also have current CTC clearance. However this does not suffice for prison service and have to be vetted yet again!

I applied for both sure so have to decide which to take if pass medical

Hi folks, does anyone have any more information on intake numbers for either role? I ticked both PCO and CO but would much rather be offered the CO. I had my medical yesterday and passed it thank feck! It was a shock to be given the option on the form of receiving the verdict there and then when it was over, but really glad once I'd got over the initial panic before it had even started lol. I also received my certificate of the CTC/security clearance last week but I don't have a clue what happens next or of timescales etc or when I might hear from them again?? All the waiting and not knowing is a killer, especially now I know everything is out of my hands and I have completed and passed everything required of me. What happens next??

Just spoken to recruitment and she confirmed it is being done in merit order. Pco positions are obviously being recruited first and then the co position. Someone on a lower merit number who has applied for both positions will not get an advantage when it comes to the co position even if they have already been vetted and had medical. She advised the whole process begins again as it would otherwise be unfair.

Explain ??? If I didn't take PCO do you mean I can't take CO ?

No not at all. Just that you go back in the pot until they get the ok to start the co recruitment.

What I was looking to have clarified was that someone with a lower merit score than me who applied for both positions would not be ahead of me on the co recruitment. She also confirmed they are using merit numbers contrary to a previous poster.
