I agree that Lidl is not as cheap as it once was in comparison and that in terms of quality in my opinion it not comparable to its German brother, Aldi, but to state that the Tesco products which match Lidl for price are better quality is most definitely stretching things.
Depends what you're buying. I'd never buy meat in lidl. It's shít quality!

If you say it's not, you have no taste buds.

Yea it is but it is up to the customer themselves. For people who don't have trollies or shoppers then they should be allowed to pack bags at their own pace at the til especially if they are older or have a disability because it would be very hard for them to have the stamina to rush and lift objects for one place and if they have to walk far carrying a bag of shopping to their bus stop.

What is your fascination with old and disabled people?

Anyway, if you have enough items that you don't need a basket, it's not a problem. You put your handful of items into a bag and away you go.

If you have a basket, place scanned items back into the basket and bring them 3 steps away to the packing area (remember, your old and disabled argument won't work here as the customer would have had to carry this basket around the store, thus proving carrying it 3 more steps is no problem.

If you have a trolley, same as above.

    it's all so very simple!

If you have all of these avenues open to you but you choose to stand at the till fapping about, don't be surprised if the people behind you in the queue believe YOU to be an ignorant person and make comments.

Although don't just storm out at this point, that would be childish!

I never buy more than a large grocery bag of stuff in LIDL at a time. I arrange my goods on the belt in the order I want to pack them, put my bag or sometimes cardboard box up on the counter on the far side of the till and pack them as they come through. It can get fast and furious sometimes but the cashier won't won't let goods overflow onto the floor.

What I like most of all about LIDL is that I can go in and buy a single cheap item with my debit card. No cashier has ever rolled their eyes or insisted on a minimum €10 purchase for a card transaction. LIDL ftw!

Meat differs between stores, Lidl Rathmines does great steaks.

Yea I don't really get that whole scene. I've seen the videos and they've done nothing for me.

Well, I am not an older person. I am young. And I don't "give into ignorant people". How on earth do you know that the people in my hypotesis are ignorant?

I am considerate of the people in the queue and the people who work there. I wish to pack my stuff as fast as I can so that the people behind me can go about their business quicker and the girl working there can do her job properly. Nothing wrong with that.

If Tesco has a dedicated packing area like Lidl I would happily go there and do it at my leisure.

    Lol, sure you do ;)

Well, there is no need to rush to pack your bags, you can pack efficiently. When you do things in a rush it's often not effective. Well if people are going to be impatient and push you forward while you are not finishing packing your bags, this behaviour is ignorant because everyone has to pack their bags, some people are more items than others, some items take more time to pack than other items because of the awkward shape or fragile like eggs, some people have young children with them aswell.

    Not the point

What? Where did I say people were pushing me forward? You're just inventing things and putting them into my hypothetical scenario.

Well if you don't know by know that people are people. All people are not young physically fit, rationally thinking and fast. People are old, disabled, some are iliterate, slower, and there are people who don't know how to shop for themselves they might not have the much life skills for things that are seen as basic to us.

Your actions are absolutely of someone who is immature, childish and easily offended.

In fairness, you went into a queue with a trolley full of shopping, not bothering to follow the correct procedure with a child you couldn't control.

No wonder you were pissing everybody off.

    Your shameful behaviour is embarrassing.

I'd thank you to stop with the whole 'child out of control' thing. That's complete horsesh!t, so with all due respect, cut it out.

I believe my behaviour was neither shameful (lol) nor embarrassing. It was a reaction to an experience I had that you were not party to. Perhaps it was wrong in your eyes, but It was how I felt at the time and I don't apologise for it.

Last time I looked in lidl the stiploins were 2 for €11. That's not cheap for packaged steak.

    1) Dunnes is no way near as good value.

    2) I'm sure your ignorance means you don't realize that you are a racist. Not all staff are from "Poland/Eastern Europe". Eastern Europe are more often than not friendlier than most Irish staff. However if they do seem to be a bit unfriendly it's probably because of the way they are treated by racists like yourself.

Well i am not racist at all! The majority of staff in the lidl i used to shop in are eastern european so if many people left lidl and started shopping in dunnes, then the many of the staff including those from eastern europe would lost their jobs that is basic. That is the point I was making but I was accused of being racist because I said many would lose jobs most of the workers in that lidl are eastern european if many of lidl customers went to dunnes instead.

But what I want to know is, why do you keep bringing them up in this conversation? We're talking about the OP and the points you're making about the disabled hold no water.

Being disabled has no baring on what we're talking about but your "go to " argument is "Oh yeah, but what if you're disabled?". This has nothing to do with packing your bags at the till.

(also, I don't see how iliteracy harms your bag packing skills but there ya go)

Seriously poster, your arguments are becoming more and more bizarre!

I live smack between two Lawlors, and while the steak is good, it's usually 2-3 euro more expensive per steak. I do go there for my more fancier cuts though. Just be picky about which steak you choose and quality varies.

Well there are eastern europeans as well as africans and other nationalites working everywhere and also a good few of them in dunnes, What is your point? I just notice there is alot in the lidl I used to shop in, some of them are very friendily and but particular a good few of them are not in my experiences. Dunnes is far better most of the staff are friendily at least they say hello when you said hello to them and if you ask them where something is you don't feel like your bothering them.

Me bolly, Tesco meat is gank!

Lidl meat is grand and sourced locally too along with all their perishable goods. Plus they are way cheaper for 'specialist products', i.e. parma ham, chorizo and the like than anywhere else.

Another thing I like about the Lidl bag packing experience is that they never have some local group, (usually the junior soccer team or gymnastic club) at the bag pack areas where a bored 12year old kid throws your shopping into bag in the most random order he possibly can - oh, lets put the firelighters, the plums and the frozen chips into one bag, and then I can put the washing powder on top of your crossinants!
Drives me mental that I'm guilt tripped into making a contribution to their club for having my shopping packed incredibly badly.

Less service at Lidl but more in your shopping basket that you walk out with in the end. I buy lidl, tesco and supervalu, all have their pros and cons

So, what you're saying is..... some Eastern Europeans are nice and..... some are not so nice?

That's a shicking revelation poster Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention.

it's just as well that isn't the case with Irish people eh?
