Beautiful Saab that is great value at 1600. In a great advertisement for bangernomics the Peugeot 406 coupe that I bought for 750 euro and was parked up for over a year passed the NCT today no problem at all. All I did to it was got 2 new indicator bulbs as the orange coating on them had flaked away and didnt look orange enough under the clear lenses. 5 euro all in

How many people have bought car suggested here in this thread?
Well not an actual car that was listed here, but went the bangernomics route twice in the last 3 year's, solely from this thread. One Mazda 626 and a '97 e200, daily driver now. In fact I think the Mazda was listening here first. So yes, I have.

Again not specifically one in this thread, but applied the principles and watched what to look for.

The father had a 323F 1.5 and nearly ran us dry:pac: He warned me the day I come to buy a car that that particular engine is to be avoided. Lovely car though all the same. Was such a nice drive it nearly justified the petrol expense.

You could always go for the 2.0 v6 version:pac: although I somehow doubt it will be anymore efficient.

    Tempting though to be fair:pac:

Think there was a black 323f 2.0 posted here not so long back?

I bought a Volvo S70 that was listed here. It is serving its purpose well, as a runabout for a few months.

    You THINK ?

It's a CRX ffs, the wet dream car of teenagers in the early 90s.

    Cracking looking machine, even today.

I dunno... lowered, no talk of tax or test. Seems like a lot of money for a 91.

<<sucks air through teeth>> not sure I'd go there.

I would rather judge the car by its condition, rather than the number plate. Still, any modifications to a car like this one, or any car, would put me off.

how many times will you live, a test drive will change you attitude.

Yup, fully agree with that. After all classic cars are old and the condition is the key. But this one has been molested, to a degree. This probably indicates a fair bit of thrashing in it's long life.

I've driven one a long time ago, great fun. If I was spending that money on that car I would expect at least a test. It's not really in bangernomics territory, is it? The remit is for some tax, some test and at least haggleable (it's a word :D ) into the money band. No haggling room there.

I very much like the extraordinary positiveness when it comes to describing the overal condition:

Put my dad's car up on DoneDeal a few minutes ago. It's an Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 Twin Spark. NCT and Tax till next month, last NCT done less than 3000 miles ago. Exhaust flexi pipe gone and sunroof not working. Other than that 2 tires changed just before the NCT. He's had it for 7 years.

    450 Euro.
