avoid Avensis? why, if you don't mind me asking?

Just that one, milage is too high..

If the engine is as well kept as the interior and exterior I don't see a problem with it?

Avoid of all the avensis? The army could use them to clear land mines and it'd be grand on the other side :pac:

The astra and the laguna I can understand to an extent, but why the ford?

I just feel that the Mondeo could turn into a bit of a money pit as the mileage go onto it and did someone mention previously they were a bit heave on petrol and the op has a Ford on its last legs, surely he doesnt want another on ?

I know they can do the milage but at that price there is other options, I dont have a problem with the Avensis, its just the milage that puts me off..

I get that, and you're right.

Maybe he enjoyed driving the focus I think he said? that he drove it into the ground and might like an upgrade to something bigger.

Maybe, time will tell.. Id rather see him in the Mondeo than the Laguna..

Agreed, but there's something rather appealing to me about a Laguna lately.

Isn't there talk that the 1.4 is under powered?

None the less they're a nice car.
Talk? It must have been the lowest power 1.4 sold the time, and not even durable in its weediness. But the interior, my word even the poverty spec is sumptuous, straight out of an audi A8 - far better than a jap. ;-) (sarcasm!)

I did like my wee focus, but I've had it for about seven years and I've driven a fair few other fords inbetween as work cars so I would like a change I think. Then again, beggers and all that!!

I rang yer man about the Octavia that's going for €700. It's been sitting up since last summer and that's kinda put me off.

That said, a friend of a friend has a 01 Scenic (I Know) that he wants rid of for €300. Surely it's worth a punt, and if it goes through the test it doubles or triples in value.

If you're handy with a multimeter and a screwdriver you should be able to clean up obvious electrical niggles. Do you have a fail sheet for the NCT or is it not due for a while yet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

It's one that he's had sitting at home so I would think it's out of test and not had one. If it's reasonably clean I have enough friends from my time working in garages to tidy it up.

It's a punt, I know that but if the tyres/brakes are decent and it drives OK I could stick it in for the test and still only have spent 350. Sure I'd nearly get that back for scrap.

Sounds like it's worth a punt if it's not going to be taking your time away from more rewarding activities - as you say any losses are likely to be small enough worst come to worst.

And returning to the whole point of the thread:

€900, 3 months tax, 9 months NCT but no pics.

Better considering the tax and nct on offer but I'd still find it hard to part with that much for an old Fiat

    Nothing personal, FQ.

Regarding the ad text "only passed nct last week".

Well, fupping tell the punters (or show in a pic) just when the fupping NCT expires then!

Unless you tested it late and it expires in 3 months....

    Not your ornery onager

The only problem with that is, its not my ad... maybe you should ring the owner and ask them about it instead of assuming its mine..

Jesus people in this thread are very quick to go on the attack...

Read the first line of my post again. It was intended to assure you that what followed was not aimed at you but at the seller of the car. If that wasn't clear, please accept my apology.

    Jebus is right.

Nice wonder what year he took the photos. No leaves in Donegal ATM.

Is it just me or has this been in a rear shunt? Nice car otherwise.
