As posted in the other thread, Rice had 12 touches, whereas Flacco had 50 attempts. Bonkers

It was pretty dispiriting stuff for Ravens fans alright.

Some chubby old guy on the other team put in a better performance than Flacco!!

Messy, sloppy and still could have won it

Harbaugh burning two time outs in the 3rd including a ridiculous challenge

Not sure what Cameron was playing at but he's done this many times before!

    Steelers deserved their win

It is time to start a #FireCam campaign on twitter?!?

That started about three years ago!

Oh, and I am seriously worried RG3 will put points on us this Sunday.

Ya its not looking good, the Redskins will have gotten a real confidence boost after last night's win. Hopefully T-Sizzle will be able to play, I don't think the defense could afford another loss, from a leadership point of view anyway. Luckily torn triceps rarely keep players out

Good news, Rice gets hot in December:

    http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ray-Rice-Historically-Heats-Up-In-December/59fa892c-900d-4a31-aa22-dd7418862fa6
Ravens fans are clamoring for Ray Rice to get the football more often.

History suggests that’s exactly what will happen over the Ravens’ final four games.

The Ravens fifth-year running back tends to heat up in December, and has been the NFL’s best late-season running back for the last three years.

"It’s that late time of year where the cream rises to the top,” Rice said Wednesday.

Since 2009, Rice has rushed for an NFL-leading 1,646 yards in December and January games. The next closest back is Tennessee’s Chris Johnson with 1,400 rushing yards.

The Ravens game on Sunday against the Steelers was the start of December football, and Rice was the subject of controversy after only getting 13 touches. But as the Ravens head into the final four weeks of the season – which will all come against teams vying for a playoff spot – Rice expects to figure heavily into the game plan each week.

"Going forward, we are going to do as I always say, work on our execution, and my touches will definitely come,” he said.

Rice currently ranks seventh in the NFL in total touches (247), and his production through the first 12 games is in line with previous seasons. He currently has 872 rushing yards, and his career high (since becoming a starter) through 12 games is 926 yards and career low is 844.

The Ravens have made it a point not to overwork Rice in the early part of the season so that he’s ready for the stretch run, and Rice feels refreshed going into the final four games.

"This is one of the best [seasons] I’ve ever felt going into December football, just being honest,” Rice said. "I think that has something to do with, obviously, being smart with my touches, but also having to do with how I take care of my body.”

Rice attributes his late-season stamina to the way he trains and works in the weight room, and said that he’s actually working on getting stronger at this point rather than just maintaining.

Rice also credited rookie running back Bernard Pierce with helping him stay fresh because Pierce has become a solid complementary piece in the running game.

"Bernard Pierce has been a great complement to me where I’m able to come in and bust big runs now, because it’s that late time of the year where the run game is more important,” Rice said.

The focus now for Rice is to continue building up his strength through the final month of the season, so that the Ravens can lean on him to secure their fifth straight trip to postseason and make a run at the Super Bowl.

"You have to focus on playing through January if you are going to be a playoff contender or a contender for a Super Bowl,” Rice said.

Hopefully Cam will let him touch the ball!

Another loss, though tbh we're doing well to be 9-4 given the injury situation. That one stung though. Dean Pees is Greg Mattison all over again. I was shouting at the screen for the 2 point conversion that it better not be a 3 man rush. Cousins walks in with only one defender between the tackles. And then the decision to not try and work it down the field at the end of regulation. FFS Flacco was having a nice game let him have a go. I feel pretty confident we'll beat the Giants and Bengals, and we'll just have to hope against the Broncos. Permutations for the first round bye now are to win out and one Patriots loss. Go Texans.

    Something had to change:
Ravens dismissed offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.

And in Jim Caldwell's first game as Ravens offensive coordinator, he will face Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos.

Interesting move. I always thought people only ever talked about him when things weren't going well but our second half woes are just too much.

Think it's right to let him go, some of the things he's done this year has had me tearing my hair out. Looking forward to Sunday night very much indeed.

Anyone else like to see Norv Turner as the next OC? :)

Hmmm... problems using Mathews, blowing second half leads... the transition will be seamless.

Good decision IMO that needed to be made.

I'd imagine it's quite hard for Harbaugh though as you'd obviously become very friendly with your coaches so it won't have been easy. Asked if Biscotti suggested the idea of firing Cameron, Harbaugh said ''I'm not getting into that'' so I do wonder if the decision was taken out of his hands.

Good luck to Cam in the future anyway I suppose and hopefully this will act as a catalyst to push on as on offense, mixing it up more in the second half and 4th quarter of games especially making us far less predictable.

While the headlines on the Ravens’ defense this season have focussed on the losses, and comebacks, of Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, it’s worth pointing out that two of the lesser regarded players have each excelled in one aspect of their game in particular. Rookie outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw has looked up to the task of replacing Jarret Johnson, who was a constant force against the run during the past four seasons. With 29 of his 34 tackles resulting in a defensive stop, coming from 282 snaps against the run, Upshaw ranks second among outside linebackers with a Run Stop Percentage of 10.3%.

Also at outside linebacker, Paul Kruger has quietly been the Ravens’ best, and most consistent, pass rusher. It probably wouldn’t surprise you to know that San Francisco’s Aldon Smith leads all 3-4 outside linebackers with a PRP Rating of 12.0. What might surprise you though, is that with the likes of DeMarcus Ware and Clay Matthews at the position, it’s actually Kruger who is second. His sack numbers may be lower than some of those around him, but with 47 total pressures from 318 snaps as a pass rusher, he has a PRP Rating of 11.8. He’s particularly effective from the left of the defense, where his PRP Rating rises to 14.5.

Time for some useless trivia, did you know......

That the Indianapolis Colts are never, ever, ever called that in Baltimore.

Still bitter over a certain Mr Irsay and midnight exit

So look to the scoreboard next game and you will not see see Colts, you will see Indy.

When the Ravens franchise started back in the 90's and Indy came to play they were introduced as "Indianapolis professional football team". This tradition still exists.

Of course there was retaliation so when Baltimore went to the old RCA dome they were introduced as "Baltimore professional football team"

Some Ravens fans get very caught up in this. Well before my time anyway

Just some Monday morning trivia, that's all

    Home
Cleveland, Cincy, Pittsburgh, New England, NY Jets, Green Bay, Minn, Houston

    Away
Cleveland, Cincy, Pittsburgh, Miami, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Denver

I remember the last time we lost to the Vikes, cracking game.
Lost when Steve Hauscka missed a FG

I don't recall when Baltimore last played the Bears

    Predictions:

    Home:

    Browns - W
    Bengals - W
    Steelers - W
    Patriots - L
    Jets - W
    Packers - L
    Vikings - W
    Texans - L

    Road:

    Browns - W
    Bengals - W
    Steelers - L
    Dolphins - W
    Bills - W
    Bears - W
    Lions - W
    Broncos - L

We probably won't lose as many as 3 at home and only lose 2 on the road the way I have predicted (we'll be more likely to lose one of the Bears/Lions games on the road and beat one of Packers, Patriots or Texans at home), but around 11-5 we won't be too far away from that with that schedule I'd imagine.

Last time we played the Bears was in December 2009 and we beat them up. 31-7, Cutler with a QB rating of 7.9:

Also, thanks for that trivia Mike. Always good to get more and more insight about the history of the franchise.

Very inspirational. You can't teach or learn what he has inside him, he just 'has it'. I want him to run our country, a leader who really knows how to lead.
Failing that, I want him to be my personal coach :pac:, especially when I'm feeling lazy or fed-up, I want him there to kick me in the butt and say "come on man, get it done".

I had actually forgotten about 'the catch that wasn't' in the Championship game, I was so rooting for ye at that moment !
