When i press the white button to smoke I hear a sizzling sound?
    It's working :)
There was also a white foamy bit on the cartomizer which I needed to remove to fill it up, does this need to go back?
    Bin it.
Im gettin a hit, but not much vapour,
The length of draw affects the vapor, myself I pull for about 5 seconds.
DC's may need more juice, I don't drip in so am not sure how many drops. What I do is fill a 'condom' (vaper slang for the rubber cover that comes on the cart) a little more than half way and gently push the cart down into it. Then drop into the top till it looks soaked. Leave for a min or two and vape. Oh and blow out the excess liquid and put a tip on.
BTW theirs a little plug thing in the bottom of the condom, take it out before filling with juice, it's to protect the center hole on the cart and will stop the juice getting into the cart if left in place. The top condom has no plug but is shorter and will spill out juice when pushing the carto in if you have enough juice in it.
    Enjoy :D

Bein vaping now for the last 2 days,
really like it although had a bit of headache yesterday
probably due to withdrawals from other chemicals in cigarettes,
Still not a huge amount of vapour but getting a nice throat kick
Think this e cigarette is a keeper!

Looking forward to trying out other flavours etc soon

How long should my cartomizer be lasting?
    Still on the first one!

Probably a few days if you keep it moist.

it depends how often you use it, and probably how heavy a draw you take when you are using it
I got about a week out of mine and I was a heavy user

Can I presume then, that you can refill the cartomizer more than once?

God yes. Don't let it run dry or it's finished. You don't run it dry then refill. You should top it up fairly regularly so that it's constantly moist. I do anyway and they last for a good few days.

Im gettin a hit, but not much vapour, its 18mg USA mix, used about 10-14 drops as I rotated the cartomizer

New DCC should take about 40 drops of juice, good 1,5ml or more! Blowing into the cartomizers should push all liquid down.

    Cheers guys,
    Am really liking it,
    getting great throat kick
and def getting the nicotine hit I need

Still not much vapour, but that maybe down to the type
    of juice im putting in
Plus it may be time now to change my cartomiser
I wonder is it because I have a dual coil cartomiser?

Anyway, thanks again for all the info
Such a wealth of information here

I've had some issues with the DCC not giving much vapour too. I think some juices are worse than others. I found the Liqua strawberry was lovely but poor vapour. Gives good vapour with a Kanger horizontal with eGo batteries but I don't think the taste is as good.

Actually noticed that this forum seems to be getting busier!

i dont think you oughta need to change your carto just yet, its only been a few days. its possible you picked one that was destined to underperform by bad luck, but if you're still getting a hit from it and it doesnt taste bad stick with it

some juices definitely do give different levels of vapour as green hornet said, but I wonder if you're expecting to exhale cigarette levels of vapour/smoke? that just isn't going to happen. also bear in mind that vapour never looks like a huge amount when you're the one vaping, i'd be reasonably certain that if you were to videotape yourself vaping you'd see a similar enough level of vapour to what you'd find on a youtube review.

If you have too much juice in the DCC, or not enough juice, the amount of vapour will be poor. It took me a few days to get used to keeping it at the right level. What works for me is to fill a new DCC, then vape to the point where I'm getting good vapour, then try to keep it around that level by adding a few drops every now and then.

Also if you have previously overfilled, there might be juice in the contacts on the battery side or in the DCC. It could be worth taking the DCC off, holding it over a tissue and blowing down through it to blow out any drops, then drying the bottom, and also running some tissue inside the battery contact to dry it out.

I got some new Dual Coil XL Clearomizers on Monday, and have to say it's performing very well. I concur that it is best practice to keep these guys wet, but not so wet that it's gurgling. They do go through juice quicker than nornal cartridge though.

I've used them for a while and found them okay too.

Out of interest I bought a couple of Kanger horizontal coils and I find them better.

Much more vapour with a very full warm taste. Flavour not as good as DCC, not bad but a little muted and undefined That said, other people such as Sir Digby had bad experiences with them.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I'm thinking of getting some e-cigs myself, but finding it hard to choose.
I quite like the listings in this thread, but I'd like to see your opinions on other brands I found myself.

    http://www.smokegreen.ie/?page_id=11

    http://www.electronic-cigarette.ie/index.php?products=product&prod_id=16

    http://www.electronic-cigarette.ie/index.php?products=product&prod_id=15

Since I know very little about them, the only advantage I can see is, that these ones look like the real thing. Not that I'm too pushed about it though.
Would these be as good as the rest?

I smoke about 4-8 on a regular day, 13-15 with alcohol.

    Thanks.

don't buy the real-cig lookalike ecigs. many disadvantages, biggest one being battery life.
would recommend an ego type ecig as a start.
biansi imist ego personally I would recommend as it is reliable and has less fiddling about than some other methods.
buy extra wicks (usually in accessories section) if you buy it, along with some e-lquid. 18mg or 1.8% strength should suit you as a start.
http://www.irishvapers.ie/ have the imist but their site is down today for updates.

aye like glasso said, the cigarette looking ones don't really do anything better than any of the others except they tend to cost more money

the imist he reccomended is meant to be a good piece of kit, other popular kits around atm are the ego-c (similar to the imist in concept, 78 euro or so for the kit but you get 5 atomiser heads which oughta last you a long damn time) or the dual coil cartomizers.
I'd normally reccomend the dual coils, but apparently the ones in stock in the stores atm aren't the best so the imist or ego-c would prob be better for you.

OK thanks a lot guys, that clears up a lot. I had a feeling the real looking ones were more about the look than quality arite. Gotta go now though, so I'll have a better look at these later on and let ye know what I go for.

    Cheers.

OK so I've gathered up individual pieces and need some help making the best combination.

    (Battery)
What would be the best Battery? Does it matter if I get eGo-C or T? and what's up with the first one that says (All Types) Does it mean it can fit all?

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/batteries/joye-ego-t-battery-all-types-/prod_192.html
    eGo-T (All Types)

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/joye-ego-c/joye-ego-c-spare-parts/joye-ego-c-battery/prod_233.html
    eGo-C

I think the next 2 would suit me better, being able to vape during charging would be handy.

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/batteries/joye-ego-t-usb-battery-/-usb-passthrough/prod_206.html
    Joye eGo-T USB battery/USB passthrough

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/joye-ego-c/joye-ego-c-spare-parts/joye-ego-c-usb-battery-/-usb-passthrough/prod_234.html
    Joye eGo-C USB battery/USB passthrough

    (Cartomizer)

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/blank-cartomizers/dual-coil-lr-xl-cartomizer/prod_196.html
    Dual Coil LR XL Cartomizer

    (Drip Tips)

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/drip-tips/aluminum-flat-drip-tips/prod_177.html
    Aluminium FLAT Drip Tips

    (Juice)

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/standard-eliquid-pg-/-vg/10ml-eliquid-pg/prod_99.html
10ml eLiquid PG (3 or 4 of these)

(And a Charger and mains to USB adapter.)

Is everything I've listed above, all I need?

What is an Atomizer? Is that similar to a Cartomizer, and do I need both? same goes for the atomizer head? also curious about the "Empty Tank Cartridges".

So to sum it all up, am I better off going straight for the Joye eGo-C Starter Kit or should I get the individual parts I've listed? And as for refills, are the
cartomizer and the juice the only things I need to replace frequently? Pitty IrishVapers is down, but I won't be orderring until Monday night anyway, so I'll defo check out the Imist ones as soon as it's back up.

Sorry for making it so complicated :p Just making sure I get it right at the start.

    Cheers.

im too tired atm to actually respond to your questions so ill just link this post i made a while ago that I think answers some of them
i'll post again in the morning and answer your questions properly :)

Cartmizer is a semi disposable atomizer and cart combination, they last from 2 days to a week depending on use. They don't stop working but they become manky to use, I think the wick bit fails to suck juice properly.
The kits are handy as you get 2 batteries and charger with the atomizer or tank system, cartos are cheap enough to get a few to try with a kit. They fit the same as the atomizer.
Most kits come with 650 mAh batteries if you but the bits separately you can get a 900 or 1000 mAh battery. Get two the pass trough is handy if you go for one but you need to be close to power to get the benefit. 2 900 will never leave you without a working batt. If you aren't a heavy user, 2 650s won't either.
Don't forget juice, get a couple of 10ml in different flavors and nicotine strengths to see what you like and what keeps the cravings gone. I know it costs more but 30ml of something you don't like is a waste and you ll save later once you know what suits.
Oh and keep 'er wet ;)

Nice 1 guys, that answers a lot, I'll have another good look in the morning, way too tired now myself.

The Ego C battery, is actually a better battery, the lights on the button change color when the battery level drops below a certain percentage, I'd imagine that'd be a handy feature to have.

The 1000mAh batteries are very long, the 650 don't last all that long, my personal preference is the 900mAh battery, it's just long enough to hold a decent ammount of charge, but doesn't look like your carrying around a flash light.

Your choice on attys and cartos, that I'm afraid is %100 up to you, and your personal preference. Just try out what you can and see what works best for you....

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/blank-cartomizers/510-xl-lr-empty-cartomiser/prod_227.html

dual coil's are good, but get a couple of these in your order too to compare.
they dont hold as much juice as a dual coil, so youll have to top off a bit more often but they are better in terms of flavour, just about comparable in terms of vapour although the vapour is a bit cooler as they are 2ohm to the dual coils 1.5ohm

also if that's how you choose to live your life, fair enough.. I won't judge.. but I would advise against aluminium drip tips.
    http://www.thebestshop.eu/drip-tips/ceramic-drip-tip-for-510/901/prod_216.html
    or http://www.thebestshop.eu/drip-tips/transparent-drip-tips/prod_146.html

although I have a ceramic I got from another site and it doesn't really fit anything other thasn the dual coils.. not sure if TBS ceramics will have that problem

as for the batteries, if eeloe says the C's are better then the C's are probably a good choice but I would advise against the passthrough.
its not that they're bad it's just that if you have 2 batteries, they are kind of unneccesary. a charged 900mah battery will last you a day, maybe two before you need to recharge and if you hav a passthrough you're going to be in a constant cycle of burning charge and charging.. it wont be good for the overall life of the battery, an ordinary battery will last longer.

    as to the ego-c
    http://e-cigshop.eu/e-cig-components-spare-parts/eGo-C-Atomizer

someone on here tried this, i think mrplop maybe... too many people here these days. they are an unbranded ego-c but whoever got it was very happy with it. for 8.95, worth a punt.
if you're able to order the stuff individually that's what I'd reccomend. just do a post in here before you order with everything you have in your basket so we can satisfy our innate urge to critique.
and if you order everything individually and get some dual coils or boge cartomisers, itll be cheaper than the ego-c kit and you can then order the unbranded ego-c I listed above if you want to try it out.

and yes, once you have all the stuff the only things youll need to replace are liquid and cartomisers/atomisers.
cartomisers more often that atomisers as they are cheaper disposable items, but a carto oughta last you the guts of a week maybe more depending on how often you actually spend vaping.

  • Registered Users Posts: 74 ✭✭Tranceboy 2k

Sorry about the late reply, but I think I'm finally ready to order now anyway.

For the batteries, I think I'll get 2 http://www.thebestshop.eu/joye-ego-c/joye-ego-c-spare-parts/joye-ego-c-battery/prod_233.html at 650 mAh, as I don't think I'll be a very heavy user, and the less I use them the better anyway :D

    Cartomizers. http://www.thebestshop.eu/blank-cartomizers/dual-coil-lr-xl-cartomizer/prod_196.html
    http://www.thebestshop.eu/blank-cartomizers/510-xl-lr-empty-cartomiser/prod_227.html
    3 of each.

Drip Tips. 1 of each. Transparent, Delrin and Ceramic.

    ELiquid. http://www.thebestshop.eu/standard-eliquid-pg-/-vg/10ml-eliquid-pg/prod_99.html

    Gold&Silver / B & H,
    Winston / Wensten,
    Dunhill / Deluxe tabaco

Also thinking of getting Vanilla and Banana for the sake of it. I think I'll give these a try and I'll try the USA Mix (MarlB) sometime later.

Some are 11, others 18, so that should be an OK start.

    And charger. http://www.thebestshop.eu/joye-ego-and-ego-t/spare-parts-for-joye-ego/fast-usb-charger-for-joye-ego/tornado/eco-ego/riva/prod_111.html
    http://www.thebestshop.eu/accessories/mains-to-usb-adaptor/prod_60.html

I'm pretty sure that's everything I need anyway. Oh I knew I'd be forgetting something. What about a pouch or some kind of container? it may be handy for the spare battery and possibly the eLiquid.

Thanks to everyone for all the help anyway, it was really good.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

that appears to be everything you'll need

you dont need 3 drip tips, but I suppose no harm in having them

i think eeloe had the vanilla before and liked it, and the dekang (the juices thebestshop has in standard) fruit juices are meant to be ok.. any i've had i've liked although i haven't actually tried the banana.

thebestshop are out of stock of the carry case, but tbh it's not needed at all. you can throw everything you need to make 2 ecigs into a jeans pocket and still have room for a wallet and phone. if you're wandering around some saturday/sunday market and you see a little felt pouch going for 50 cent, maybe pick that up to carry everything in but even that wouldnt be neccesary.

if you order before i think 2-3pm tuesday, you should get it in wednesdays post so be sure and let us know how you're getting on with it

    and discount code of IRISHVAPE

650 baterys will fit with a 10ml bottle into one of those altoids mint tins, costs nothing if you have one and about E3 if you need to buy one(with free mints :) )
Something like this with a bit of felt to stop the rattle.
    ms_sweets_mints.jpg

What you might look out for is a cone, doesn't really do much but streamlines the Ego.

do the cones fit over the dual coil cartos though? I thought they were a bit too thick for cones to properly fit over them

No problem with the stainless ones, cool on the black too. Not a hope in hell on the clear ones which are anoying anyway cos they come apart. Go back together and still work but will leak all over your pocket. A tip, if using clear dual coils don't put ecig in front trouser pocket. ;)
Some ppl say the cone affects the draw but I never noticed.
