Oak Park now showing 14c in the 2 o clock. 13.8c would be an all time christmas day record and a 14c could actually be as little as 13.5c ( and even that could be adjusted down).

Ogimet is not as on the Ball for Oak Park as it is for Valentia. Clicking on this link will eventually produce a value. Only a few readings taken so far today.

Alternatively all the synops for today will show up here if you click.

My station is a Met E climatological station and the max temp today is 15.0C. So certainly record broken if the 13.7C was correct.

Oak Park and a few other stations' synops are only 3-hourly on ogimet, whereas the other stations are hourly. Also, on some days the 0900 and 1500 synops are not reported until 9 hours later (so at 1800 for the 0900 and 0000 for the 1500Z). Anyway, the 1800 synop will give the max for the day. The 1500 report will appear here.

13.4c at Oak Park in the 1800 synop, not a record.

    http://www.ogimet.com/display_synopsc.php?lang=en&estado=Irel&tipo=ALL&ord=REV&nil=SI&fmt=txt&ano=2011&mes=12&day=24&hora=14&anof=2011&mesf=12&dayf=25&horaf=23&send=send

Damned if I know how ME rounded that to 14c in the hourlies. :(

How come the synop reported 13.4c at 1800 ?

13.7c is a record high( jointly along with 1974)

13.2c is Probably an all time record in Donegal :D

Aberdeen Dyce got up to 15.1 °C, with nearby Aboyne at 14.8 °C. Probably some Föhn warming giving the extra degree or so.

Possible. 'A Record' was set in Ireland today.

A high of 14.3C (57.7F) was recorded in County Down - the mildest Christmas Day on record for Northern Ireland.

The temperature was recorded in Murlough, where the previous record was 13C - most recently recorded in 1988.

Am currently perspiring here in Galway, where it must be at least 13 degrees outside. Only minimal heating required inside.

I didn't need a coat yesterday at all and no fire was put down as the central heating sufficed.

Not the dizzy heights of yesterday with a max of 13.5C (AWS 13.3)

The 24 hr min to 9am was 11.8C the highest Dec min temp in my 13 year record. Previous highest was 11.0c back in 2000

We'll be doing well to break 13c tomorrow, sadly. :(

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/cheer-for-swimmers-as-unseasonal-weather-puts-greece-in-the-shade-2973250.html
temperatures in Ireland were higher than in holiday hotspots like Corfu.
It was one of the warmest Christmas Days on record, with a highest temperature of 14.4 degrees recorded at Met Eireann's Moore Park station near Fermoy, Co Cork.
In comparison, it was 13 degrees in Corfu, Greece and in Sardinia, Italy.
Klara Finkele, a forecaster with Met Eireann said they weren't exactly sure when the warmest Christmas Day was -- but yesterday was definitely one of them.
"My colleagues were saying that 2002 was warmer but we haven't been able to properly check," Ms Finkele said last night. "It is definitely one of the warmest, although 1988 and 1974 were also quite warm."

Some people around here need to apologise to the Sponge!
