Its a pity you cannot import results into excel and do a sort by real time ?

Last year Raheny put the results out in a spreadsheet. Their site seems to be down atm, but they might release another spreadsheet this year.

Ran the race yesterday and have been training hard and aiming for a PB which I got and I am delighted with. Its disappointing that the independent published times are from the gun rather than from the chipped times. I know that people can get caught up in times etc but its getting to the stage were one in every 4/5 races in the dublin area has some sort of time or distance discrepency. I know that these races take a lot of planning and hard work but surely getting the distance and timing right is essential. The race yesterday was €20 which is on the higher scale of race prices so I would expect the chipped timing to be bang on. In the last 12 months I have seen some fairly bad mistakes at races... the clonliffe 5K just before christmas was 80-100M short and the BHAA irishtown 5Km last year was 400M short.

Last years BHAA 5k in Irishtown was spot on, the problem was in 2010 when the route was unfortunately 350m short. Not because it was incorrectly measured but the leading runners forget to do an extra lap at the start & the rest of us followed like sheep.

Very well organised yesterday. Well done to all in Raheny Shamrocks.

Lots of deserved positive comments about the goodie bags (though I preferred the year they had the hi-vis bibs in them rather than all the junk!).

On another note, a friend of mine (who did around 32'40") left his goodie bag in the hall with his ipod in it after the race. With all the crowds in the hall at that point, someone mistakenly took his bag, with the ipod, instead of their own. I told him that I would put a call out on Boards to see if anyone ended up with a ipod in their bag. He'd love to get it back. You can PM me if you picked up this bag in error. Thanks.

This comes up every year. This course is not short people who cut the corner at the petrol station before mile two. the course is measured along the road so if you cut that you are running short the course itself is spot on and has been for 28 years

I ran past the first mile marker at 0.97 on the Garmin so I guess it's my watch that is off!

    Why would you?

So I'd make up the distance to make it 5m on the watch (not that it really matters anyway).

Thoroughly enjoyable race which I couldn't fault in any way.

Great race, phenomenal standard, no matter what stage of the race you were at there was always somebody decent to race against. Whopper goodie bag aswell, although one minor gripe, Apparently a lot of people got chipsticks in their goodie bag while I myself recieved smokie bacon crisps. This is outrageous, bitterly disapponted, in a huff in the car all the way home. Tried to talk cwgatling into donating his chipsticks to the cause but he was having none of it.

A1 race - thanks to all the Raheny lads. Couldn't fault it. Looking forward to next year.

Tried to talk cwgatling into donating his chipsticks to the cause but he was having none of it.

Man, if I knew how good those mini Caramels were, I'd have swapped the Chipsticks and my recovery drink for them.

Should I be worried that the date of birth of each entrant was emailed in a PDF document to registered runner. Listing the age category would have been sufficient for collecting race numbers?

Good to see Raheny following up on this today. I know, the horse has bolted, but at least they've realised their mistake and apologised.

    Mad, quite mad.

GPS is only accurate to 5% anyway, and you never hit the exact race line.

    4.97m is accurate to 0.6%.

If your watch has shown 5.03m, would you have stopped before the finish line ?

For anyone interested, there is an excel update of the result on the Raheny Shamrocks website. I upgraded my placing based on my chip time :)

Bit strange alright. I can't complain though, they never put my name on the list to begin with.

I'd LOVE 40 minutes or thereabouts, but would be happy with 45 too! Enjoy it, I'm really looking forward to it.

Didn't put my time prediction in the proper list, but my goal was 40 mins, and I did 38.45 (chip time) so I was delighted!

Well done everyone - glad everyone enjoyed it.

They put a message up on facebook today
After the recent Raheny 5 road race a small iPod was found. We believe it belongs to a runner called Niall. If he telephones
zero eight seven two two four eight two seven four
we can return it to him.
