And besides if they want the sponsor to stand out then thats fine. Perhaps use the 3D foam iron transfer but leave out have a white background. JVC for example didn't get lost on Arsenal's bruised banana shirt back in 1991/92 because it had that sort of iron on sponsor.

I wouldn't take the Cork shirt as the finished article yet. We may see a change sponsor style down the line. Unlikely they will but not beyond the realm of possibility either

Well they've dragged their heels long enough, missed the Christmas market entirely, and missed the start of the league, seem to have shown this one off in photo ops, so they'd be in trouble if they turned around and announced they aren't keeping this jersey and will be releasing yet another one in a while.

They definitely need to get rid of the white background and try to integrate it with the rest of the shirt. I think the white makes the purple stand out more than it will against the red, I don't think it's too bad.

That Cork jersey is a shame.I was looking forward to seeing it and then boom...what a let down!I won't buy it.Even if you look past the sponsor, the style isn't much different to the last one

The curved edges bring some respite but it's still taking away from the jersey really.

Agreed. Not impressed. Well dodgy looking.

The new Cork jersey was a real half ar$$ed attempt of a jersey design. How it was approved in the first place is hard to believe.

Anyone know where i could get my hands on the 2007-2008 jersey?

    Shocking looking sponsor.

Thats the worst Crok Jersey ever.

We have had some lovely ones down years but not this time.

True it doesn't look as bad there, the sponsorship is less intrusive than I thought, but it's still not nice, and the redesign is fairly lazy and fussy. Their old one is much nicer.

Regarding colour, by the by, O2 were happy enough to just go with white on red, and Vodafone, too, despite wanting a colour change in the jersey, ended up happy enough with the blue. why would anyone else be any different? There's two companies using each other's colours and they seemed happy enough to do so.

liking it more each tme I see it. Looked alot better in todays paper. can't justify spending €60 on it though when I have a choice of 3 already

  • Registered Users Posts: 679 ✭✭✭Connorzee

Whatever about the jersey, the leisurewear is going to look cat with that white box and whatnot on them...

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Motivator

Whoever is designing the new county jerseys for O'Neills should be shot. Every single county jersey is absolutely awful. From the stupid designs on the bottom half of nearly all the jerseys to the awful new font being used for the numbers, jesus & that Cork jersey is just a really lazy & unimaginative attempt from O'Neills.

The design looks fine. The sponsor just looks a bit stupid on a white background.

    New jersies are €62 now.

Get them for €40 on the Long Mile Road at the O'Neill's Factory Shop.

I agree. It looks a bit old fashioned with the white background. Like the way the old sponsorships use to look. Just printed on white.

You hit the nail on the head. No imagination at all in a lot of the jersies. Especially with the Kilkenny jersey. Shocking just to change the direction of the stripes and that is about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,034 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Have to disagree. Call me old fashioned but I prefer the plain red for Cork, Black & amber stripes for KK etc. no fancy swirls or different shades of the same colour like the previous Cork jersey.

A few pages back people were all in praise of the Limerick jersey which is really nice because its just one shade of green

True, but the new Cork jersey isn't a plain red, it's really fussy and cluttered looking. The Kilkenny jersey is a bit unimaginative, but personally I thought the one it replaced (with three straight stripes down the shoulder) was far better, and simpler, anyway. I also loved the one they had back around the turn of the century, with the city crest on the arms. Not much they can do about the stripes in fairness, and I would hate to see us get rid of them, as they are iconic, and at this stage probably have a psychological effect on some teams.

Would agree with you on both counts but I really like the Cavan jersey since they redesigned it and included a the new navy bits on it a few years ago so it shows they can do nice new designs.

I agree. The previous two Kilkenny jersies were nicer. Plain and simple with the straight stripes from shoulder to sleeves. The last two Cork jersies were too. But not much difference in the design really.

The thing is when O'Neills change some county jersies, there is very little difference in the design from the old jersey to the new jersey. Particularly in recent years. Just either leave them alone or re-design them altogether. If not, just stop ripping us off with tiny changes or slight differences (Cork, Kilkenny, Tipperary jersies are examples).

Looking back at previous county jerseys produced by O'Neills, its obvious they have a new design team in place. In my opinion county jerseys have gotten worse over the years instead of getting better. Whats wrong with the traditional jerseys without the fancy swirls & designs that are present on every jersey seen across Ireland nowadays?

In my opinion this style of jersey were by far the nicest ever produced by O'Neills.

Some of them now are not great like the new Cork one but on a whole O'Neills are creating way nicer jerseys in the last 3/4 years compared to previously.

They seemed to go crazy from about 2000 - 2009 with over complicated designs/crest and county name in Irish anywhere they could put it on the shirt/baggy jerseys/speed stripes...

They have certainly improved but still that Cork one is still horrible!

The one before that one you mentioned was even nicer IMO i.e the one used in the 2003 All Ireland Hurling final but both jerseys were beautiful in their day.

Cork jersey needs a white collar IMO. Something like this would be the dream:

I take it thats for the football to avoid a clash with Tyrone. Things would look an awful lot better if the Chill was in white and remove need for the white square

Don't get people started on that one. Remember 2010 AI final, when both Down and Cork changed for the final, Cork's second jersey was white with a blue stripe, but Cork/O Neills changed it to a once off jersey for the final - that was pure madness, so I wouldn't put it past them to change, but tbh, I wouldn't see it happening, they'll sit back on their haunches again now they have a sponsor

I have no idea who approved the jersey, looks shocking, from the photos I saw it looks like an iron on sticker on the shirt, which is poor. I agree that a lot of the O Neills designs recently are shockingly bad

Hopefully this jersey won't sell and it will give the decision makers the funt in the hole they need.I was really looking forward to the jersey, and to find that they release this half assed attempt is just annoying. They released a picture of the goalkeeper kit 'Hey guys look at this' ffs.
