What's the steel book? just a steel cover? Haven't heard mention of this until now?

Can ye guys tell me if the map spoiler thread is the actual map? I don't really want it ruined on me, but if it's just someone who has done very good guesswork then I'd not be too fussed.

I know we're supposed to not talk about the map thread here, but I'm too much of a scaredy cat to look. Haha.

Lads the missus paid for this in full in gamestop... but they are selling it for 59 quid after she paid 65. Could I add 4 quid to my preorder and get the upgrade to the limited edition pack on the night or will I have to do it beforehand

What I dont get is why are they charging people €65 for it, including myself, when they seem to be selling it for €60 on the day

The map spoiler thread is indeed the map. Not gonna say anything other that it's...big. They really weren't lying when they said it was gonna be bigger than GTAIV

It's not really a spoiler unless you really don't want to know anything about the game. The map is impressive though, especially when compared to the last GTA. You could spend a hell of a lot of time pissing about without even touching a mission.

And yet people are whinging it's "small" ehhh, no, its gigantic.

Didn't know this but I read online that every shop front in the game is unique. That's pretty impressive for a game of this size.

The zoomed in bits in one of the last posts really give it some scale. No way is it too small.

Exactly, when it's in context it looks huge

No point having a huge map and nothing to do in it. The first True Crime game claimed to have a bigger map then GTA:SA but there was feck all to do and it was boring.

The chances of there being nothing to do on the GTA V map are none and extremely none.

The map is the only spoiler I've looked at. The other spoiler thread doesnt exist to me :pac:

I had a nightmare last night where I got the game on the 16th.

I popped it in, I was immediately in freeroam mode as Michael. I walked outside of his apartment and got in a car... then I noticed... the game was SA graphics mixed with The Godfather: The Game movements and sounds. Michael just slid in and out of cars, not actually getting in. The cars felt arcadey.

    I was heartbroken.

I remember thinking "How am I going to break it to the guys on the GTA thread that the thing we've been waiting for so long is actually a monumental disappointment?"...

Luckily my alarm went off then. Never have I been so happy to wake up at 7am. :P

That sounds exactly like a dream I had recently, all the characters were really glitchy and their arms just flapped around when they moved. They all looked like they were made of play dough aswell.

Paid off the remainder of my pre-order in gamestop today, they confirmed that ANY pre-order with ANY amount of deposit paid MUST be kept for 48 hours from release before they can sell it to someone else so if you can't make the midnight launch your copy will be there Tuesday/Wednesday.

Hey does anyone know if/where you can pre-order GTA on the xbox 360 console itself or on the xbox.com ireland website?

You can't. It won't be available on the On Demand at launch.

I checked around and dont see GTAV on any torrent site. You'd be mad to be connected to live anways even if it was.

Is that Jim Sterling of Destructoid? I would assume there are a few reporters/bloggers playing it for review purposes.

GTA games have always made me want to be a video game journalist or work for Rockstar. Simply just to get the goods on the newest GTA game first :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Demios

I know Jim from the early Destructoid days. Dont talk as much since he moved to the states and he kinda went freelance. He gets games sometimes 2-3 weeks in advance. Lucky git!

The new GTA V character I'm most looking forward to

Am I crazy or are other people looking forward to the little things in GTA V. Like the tiny things, the font they'll use when place-names come up in the bottom right of the screen, the original tune that plays when the game loads up or the little noise you get when you finish a mission :o

Yup, I like those things in games, the R* logo, what the menu looks like etc.

Any ideas what the R* logo will look like. I say something involving money.

I was going to say I'd have to avoid Podtoid this week. Then I came to my sense and remembered they don't talk about video games. :pac:

Oh you're definitely not crazy. It's the little things that push a game from being good to great, and from great to being a game you can play for years.

I loved the sound doors made when you ran through them in IV... I loved the little music that played in the menus... I loved that you could call EMS and they'd actually show up...

Those are all inconsequential things, but they combine to make the entire experience so much better.
