22.9 here according the the Met Office. Feels a bit warmer though- Ballykelly station is fairly coastal and I'm a bit further inland. Nice breeze still! However my brother insists on keeping the heating on- strange fella. Help, I'm melting!

Edit- now 23.2 degrees on the 4pm reading.

It reached 17C here around lunch time, currently 16.4C.

Meanwhile over in Carlow its currently 21C at Oak Park.

23.1C max here, amazing when there's such a strong wind, you could probably add a few degrees to that when sheltered from the wind. Far exceeded my expectations for this week already to be honest!

    25.5ºC recorded at Phoenix Park!
Today the joint hottest day of the year
    Updated: 18:27, Wednesday, 28 September 2011

Today is the joint hottest day of the year in Ireland, with temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius recorded in Dublin's Phoenix Park.

It is the hottest late-September day since records began.

Warmer temperatures have been recorded in the month of September, but never at the end of the month, according to Met Éireann.

Phoenix Park's recording station measured 25.5 degrees at peak temperature today.

The last time these levels were recorded was 3 June.

Parts of the country, though, has mist and rain today, with temperatures struggling to get above 13c.

Send us your photos and video of the year's joint hottest day: yourphotos@rte.ie

One day over the summer the temperature hit 27c. It might have been in June the date is missing.

According to this, 25.5 would be an all time high for Dublin Airport for September

Edit - I misread Pheonix Park for Dub airport!

25.5C at Oak Park was the hottest of the summer as far as I know. It might have hit 27C somewhere but not at any ME station

Saw the same on my dash today from after I left the carpark beside Oliver St John G....

    Remained there till Palmerstown.

Dipped after that for the rest of my journey never below 22.5c

Beautiful sunny warm day in North Kerry around 22c according to the car weather station :-). Amazing the variation in the same county!

Today's 23.4c at Malin Head was the highest temperature recorded at the station since the 28th April, when it then reached 23.1c, which in turn was the highest temperature recorded since the 30th June 2009!

Chart graphing daily max at Malin Head since April this year:

It says a lot about recent summers when the yearly max temperatures are recorded either in mid spring or Autumn  The highest temperature recorded at Malin Head during the summer months this year was 21.1c. In summer 2010 the highest temp recorded was 22.0c.

Casement's Max temp today of 24.4c its warmest max temp since 23rd May 2010 when 24.5c was then recorded. Maximum summer temperature at this station was 23.8c in 2010 and just 22.9c in summer 2011.

Moral of the story: Summer 2010/2011 in Ireland = trash.

Not necessarily to be interpreted this way. Winter, Spring and Autumn will have atmospherically the clearest air, ergo the maximum heat exchange is possible ~ it does not mean that the average or ground temperature will also be correspondingly higher.

It said on the weather earlier, that today was the warmest day of the year (28th)
    Is this correct.

Joint warmest day yeah, 25.5C in Phoenix Park. Warmest day since June 2009 in Donegal if you read DE's post at the top of the page!

I think I heard that Phoenix Park actually reached 25.6c yesterday, which would make it the hotest day of the year. Will see later when ME updates data on site for Phoenix Park yesterday.
