Right I'm going to start the youtube link and see how good or otherwise it was. I mean if it's soundboard quality it should be perfect but I'm worried it will show up Axl's voice.

Thought his voice was pretty good throughout.

Listening to it in parts and bar at the very start of jungle it's been very good.

I'm reading along with the show thread on mygnr and jesus H Christ some people there are bitching about his voice not being 1987 all the time, yet they are going to multiple concerts. A bunch of headmelters.

Whingey bastards he's 55, he's hardly gonna sing like he sang at 35, or 45, but that's a whole other argument for another day. And i'd imagine Axl knows his own voice better than most of those on MYGNR.

I honestly believe its the uneducated's default setting to slag of Axl no matter what .He isn't Peter Fukin Pan.
To be honest there's no other major artist putting on such a high energy a show like GnR at the moment be it of their vintage or even pretenders half their age .
After 15 months of constant touring their still on fire.
The only criticism i have is... due to modern technology we the fans have the opportunity to anylaise every minute GnR have on stage now which to anyone following them closely can make them look like they're going through the motions which theyre not.

Bought Kerrang (for the first time in decades!) and they have done a similar story behind the song feature for their Appetite 30th anniversary issue. It's a great read, proper warts n'all stuff and a reminder of what a real bunch of sleazebags the band were!

But sleazebags who'd give rock n' roll it's balls back. And eventually have everyone imitating, or trying to imitate them..

Tomorrow night the band and axl, slash, duff, and dizzy return to St Louis, Missouri for the first time since that unpleasant night in July 1991.

I doubt that axl will bring it up but I'm sure during rocket queen the audience will be hoping they get to hear the full song and more.

Well Axl did apologize for the 2002 Philly riot, albeit 12 years later. As for the Rocket Queen riot, it's been 26 years, I would imagine it's all water under the bridge by now, though you'd never know with Axl, he might mention it..

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Axl referenced the riot in '91 during band introductions last night.

Don't think I'll bother renewing my Nighttrain membership. The forum on it is ****e and the gifts are average

If by some chance they play here in 2018/2019 I'll just have to be fast during the public ticket sale

I've spotted something interesting at 5:44 in this video of paradise city from the Apollo. You see a guy hand Axl another mic which is the same as the one he had. So Axl throws a mic into the crowd just not his mic. It was an interesting thing to see.

Talk Is Jericho Podcast - 30 Years of GnR with Duff McKagan - 2017/09/06

Duff McKagan returns to TIJ to talk 30 years of Guns N Roses! From the making of the Appetite For Destruction album to the current GnR Reunion Tour - Duff's got you covered with great stories! Find out why GnR's first real tour was supporting The Cult, how they ended up working with producer Mike Clink, what the release of "Sweet Child O' Mine" did for their popularity, and why Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin used to hide original drummer Steven Adler's drum heads and cymbals! Duff's also talking about Axl Rose's run with AC/DC, and why losing Chris Cornell was so devastating for Duff. And yes, there are more knock-knock jokes!

Also Guns N Roses are playing Rock in Rio on the 23rd of September and lets hope that it goes better than the last time.

He swapped microphones with the sound guy.

You can see the red shield in his hand, pass it back and receive another.

They'd typically lease such gear for a tour. nothing too disposable about that.

I'm sure a 100 dollar mic to GnR is fairly disposable

You've underestimated the value of the mic.

Yeah. The model he uses is not that expensive. I remember a thread on another forum before about this and the conclusions were a) he switches for a lighter one, to avoid serious injury or b) in the early days you could hear the tud as it landed, so the mike was still live. These ones are not live once they are thrown.

Another theory is that the one he uses is also linked up to a system where he can press a button/pedal and talk to the other band members/crew without it going over the pa. This I believe is true. I guess it's just hassle having to set up new mics if it can be avoided.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,577 ✭✭✭Bonzo Delaney

You've underestimated the value of the mic.

The Sure 58 a Mic which Axl throws in to the crowd at the end of Paradice City retails here for about 175e
As on other forms people who have caught the Mic testify that's the model caught so ok maybe a 200 dollar Mic still peanuts to Gnr

Its 200 on the first link in google, which is a different version of the Shure SM58 with a wireless adapter from Alesis plugging into it. Are you even looking at what you are chasing me on?

He's probably thrown them away a long time ago not noticing the costs. But he's not doing it now by the looks of the video shown earlier. As I've already said he's clearly passing one back and getting another.
