Although I'm easily persuaded, I'll probably end up joining things if people come up to me, all 'you need to join this!'. =P

I had to practically fight off some Law Soc people. I told them I was Elvis Presley when they asked for my name - Instead of them leaving me alone they began singing to me! XD

I still didn't join though, they were a little flat :p:rolleyes:

Sometimes, a (very small number) of (generally very small) societies decide not to bother come down for Thursday or Friday, because they'll probably already have all the members they're going to get. We're talking very obscure societies though.

Glad to see lots of people joining UC Soc, I like a good quiz. Apparently the standard of questions will be lower than the actual show, thankfully.

Hoping to join Alt. Music and a few more over the week.

Looking forward to seeing everyone flock over to me at the Judo stand tomorrow to sign up to the club!!

Haha, saw you today, and the mod who wasn't actually there.:D

You saw yourself how shy I can be.:p

Today was quiet enough. We got a few people signing up to Judo, which is always good.

I got to meet thysol and Maybe Memories at the stand today - thanks for dropping by to say hi, guys!

If anyone else is about tomorrow, feel free to drop over to me at the Judo stand to say hi! PurpleFistMixer, thysol, Maybe Memories, and feargal05 dropped over and they came back unmolested and with both kidneys still attached.

Just to remind everyone, a number of clubs will be showcasing their sports in the Sport Centre tomorrow and I strongly recommend you check them out and see what they have to offer. We'll be doing a Judo demonstartion from 6-9 in Ancillary Hall B. Please check it out - you can show up at any time during the demonstration and we'll have people on hand to answer any questions you may have!

Yeah man, it was a pleasure meeting you! It's good that you're getting involved in societies. That was Doug Cartel; he feels that moderating my behaviour on boards is not sufficient so he basically just follows me around to make sure I'm behaving myself in the real world. True story.

Haha, moderate you in real life. To be honest, he seemed like an undercover agent or something (from boards.ie), rofl.:D

The Sub-Aqua Club will be there until Thurs hopefully, but not Friday. Catch us tomorrow to be sure!

Lads, is it worth going to the events that are on in the societies before the Trinityents events even if you're by yourself? I debating whether or not to go along.

Depends how good you are at chatting to strangers in a biggish group.

I'm not, and found most socs nights around freshers week kinda awkward, took me a while to settle in and be relaxed :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 700 ✭✭✭nommm

Hmm... Maybe I'll just go along and if it's too awkward, I'll just go home. I wish I knew more people going to Trinity. :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭Tragedy

I knew no-one going into Trinity(Well I knew Aoibheann, but I forgot about her :p) last year.
BESS is a huge course, so found it intimidating/hard to make friends(not helped by social awkwardness) and found the early nights out frustrating on my own. But persevered with a couple of societies and now have a good few friends I can call on when I need lunch/coffee/a night out. Also, go to the boards.ie TCD beers next week!

If it's just an event with a smallish society I'd imagine the society members would make an effort to talk to you.

    Tripod was quality, wasn't it?

And I just murdered a crisp sandwich. I'm going to have the mother of all hangovers tomorrow. If anyone in the Computer Science meeting sees a more than slightly dishevelled northsider, that's probably me.

Wow, I've only spent €12 today including bus and taxi. Love it :)
