So how does Freshers week work? I won't know anybody, do we just go along to these places and make awkward conversation with strangers?

Yes and they're usually quite strict.

You could always try get a lend of a relation or friends ID for the week.

Do you think they would accept a United States ID? If so, I might be able to get a cousin to lend me an old one, but I doubt it.

Ah man. There has to be a good amount of first year students who are still underage, right? It seems kind of absurd to throw a week-long party purportedly for their benefit that they can't attend.

I'm flying in the weekend of from the USA :/ Do they would accept a United State's ID? If so, I might be able to get a cousin to lend me an old one, but I doubt it.

They would except a passport, not too sure about any other ID. They usually throw a hissyfit if you give them a provisional licence as it's not "official ID" and can easily be faked.

Unfortunately parents tend to send their kids off to school asap, without thinking of the horrific social problems they face later on :D

I'd try it if I was you. The Academy can be quite fussy about ID but most other places will accept everything in my experience. Just put on an American accent! :P

I go to The Academy every Saturday with mates and I can tell you that if you are 17 you have a very slim chance of getting in.
The bouncers in the Academy, in particular, are very strict about I.D
I went there two weeks ago with "my" Age card and was asked "do you have a second piece of identification?"
Once or twice I have been refused entry with my valid Age card (and I'm 19!), so dream on if you are 17 and looking to go out to any of the freshers events.

Thank you :P I'm not keen on hanging around Dublin by myself so I won't chance it.

Us underagers should all sit alone together somewhere and be cool :P

Haha what a great idea!! A strictly non-alcoholic event organised for us young ones. We would need bouncers at the door to keep out over aged people :P No I.D. no entry :pac:

Go get some cans and have your own party in halls... Your man can bring his giant speakers :P

Will there not be too many freshers for some of those venues!? Doubt we will be guaranteed into Calvin Harris, even with the wrist bands.. :/

i'm from the us and have used my driver's license many many times in irish clubs/bars. they just assume that if you're foreign you're old i think. like who has the balls to pull off having a fake american ID.

i like never brought out my passport because i'm too afraid it'll get stolen, and that is expensive to replace!

Actually I was thinking. Do the wristbands include the Academy for Calvin Harris? It's not on the list so...
