Vinnie desperately needs to educate himself about One Direction! :D

I think the show itself is in trouble.

Vincent is way too self indulgent, often dragging the conversation off at a tangent to something which has nothing to do with the topical issue being discussed.

Ivan Yates was far superior when he was in charge recently (before his self imposed exile). I find Tonight with VB is rarely worth watching now, except when there is a big political story happening.

VB still can't even get the show ending timing right. Joan Bruton and Conor Lenihan meltdowns were the peak of the show. The show seems to have failed at getting a decent crack at FG/LB Ministers who before the election practically lived in the studio. Paschal Donohue does a sterling job of grinning and bearing VB trolling.

    VB needs an election.

For some reason I feel that Vinny is going to bow out in May/June.

Denis O'Brien taking control of Independent Newspapers, what a scary thought

Jaysus. I hope Ger Colleran is proud of himself for that complete non-story on the front page of The Star tomorrow.

I'd say Lowry will be delighted to have one of the newspapers on his side.

Who cares about having a newspaper on his side when he's got Big Phil and the rest of those Fine Gael Government gobshytes on his side already? ;)

Don't forget the people in North Tipp that keep returning Lowry to the Dáil

Edit: Lowry received over 14,000 first preference votes in the last election. *Shakes head*

Just goes to show that the cute hoor politician is still more valued than the honest one. Sad indictment of this country. :(

I remember him when he was with RTE. One day he's reporting on proper newsworthy stories; the next day he's giving his imprimatur for a rubbish headline for a non-existent story for a red-top rag. What a backward step.

Politicians like Lowry, Healy-Rae, Flynn, O'Donoghue and Cowen all delivered in their own areas - lotto grants, hospital upgrades, new roads etc. that's why they were returned time and time again.

Don't forget Tony Gregory as well. I used to have a lot of time for him but I hated the way he supported a corrupt gangster like Charlie Haughey in exchange for favours in his constituency.

Ah Tony Gregory (RIP), I didn't mention him as he was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before my time ;)

If it's true that you get more right-wing as you get older, I wonder what John McGuirk will be like when he's 50.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,407 ✭✭✭Cardinal Richelieu

Sounds like economics of the 1950s were we built factories to produce the Irish version of goods that we can now import cheaper and better from abroad because we don't have protectism in play. Pity the property market is so over crowded or we could take some church property to finance these jobs.

Healy has been speaking (rubbish) for 75% of the time to this point.

How did anyone at TV3 think that anyone would want to listen to the incessant Sinéad Ryan at this hour of the night? Her self-righteous ramblings are difficult enough to tolerate at Midday

Just waiting for Joe Higgins to start giving out about Labour... How left wing do you have to be, to be left of Labour?

Being in power does not sit well with Joe Higgins. He's like a duck out of water the turncoat.

VB was like a school Principal there fed up hearing the same tired excuses from a schoolboy for not having his homework done.

Here comes Higgins with the usual Labour are the sell outs and not the true socialists.
