I was tempted to blow my wad on Deus Ex and El Shaddai, both discounted in HMV to around 30 each.

Deus Ex is going for 25 in Argos actually, not bad at all.

But hoping Dark Souls will be waiting in the morning :)

Almost bought El Shaddai myself earlier today when I saw it for that price. Had to put it down and back away slowly. Already too many games to be playing.

Yeah, I forced myself to believe El Shaddai will go down even further in price :pac:

I'm focusing on Disgaea 4, Dark Souls and Civilisation 5 for the moment, and they're all stupidly time consuming  Uncharted 3 will be a nice break. And DoDonPachi...

    Arghh! $$$$$$$

I need somewhere to vent. I decided to play Killzone 2 today because I'm playing far too much time on Xenoblade.

Anyway it is far and away the blandest and worst FPS game I've played in a very long time. What the hell were people smoking when they gave it all those 9 and 10's in reviews! Absolutely nothing stands out and it adds nothing to the genre. It's just boring shooting, boring enemies with turret sections and a vehicle section thrown in straight from 1997. The AI is terrible for the enemies and NPC, I found loads of enemies stuck staring at walls. Also enemies take far too many shots to take down which ruins the fun. The boss battles were laughable as well and felt so dated.

Also the game was praised for it's graphics but there aren't great at all. The environments are browner than anything Id have made and the environments are tiny.

I thought this was the only FPS game I had that I hadn't beat so played it. I'm only just after realising that I got portal 2 today in the steam sale for 15. I'm a dope.

It's been said many times before, but Killzone is proof if ever any was needed that both gamers and the gaming press are a bunch of undemanding simpletons*

The simple solution is to stop playing. The more complex solution is to keep playing in the vain hope that it's an ironic, satirical gesture of some sort, even though it isn't.

*Apologies to any Killzone fans here, I'm just speaking in general terms :P

Not bad at all, good pose for the COG Soldier.
You were saying a while ago that you were going to do a Shadow of the Colossus tee, did you ever finish one? I'd be very interested to see what you came up with.

Nice t-shirt but I reckon the marine chap needs to stand out a bit more - I couldn't tell from the first pic he was there. :)

Ah I only got a few sketches done for it. I'll hopefully get a rough one done during next week.

When its printed he stand out. The colour of him and the text is darker than the blood halftone. Doesnt really show up on the mock up though. But I'll double certain make sure he stands out, thanks

Terminator Future shock on the PC .
Seriously , it was way ahead of its time , with decently large outside sections.
Full 3d (no sprites) , searchable buildings ,vehicles. It predates quake by a few months , and got lost due to ID games popularity.
Its never ever going to get remade for licencing reasons but its well worth a look if you can find it in the usual places..

On any system? System Shock 2 and Deus Ex on the PC.

As mentioned Future Shock was way ahead of its time. The problem wasn't really Dooms popularity it was that Doom ran on reasonable computers while Future Shock at the time required the 90's equivalent of Skynet to run.

On the PS1 front I'd recommend Medal of Honour. It's very like Goldeneye but way better. It's got a cracking soundtrack and great AI for it's time. The sequel, Underground, isn't that great. Also alien ressurection isn't bad and if you want to see some early insomniac games then try disruptor. It's ****e but looks lovely.

Yep shoulda said Ps1! Cheers fellas!

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,103 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

It's not a great FPs machine. Medal of Honour would be the best and the Quake 2 and Doom conversions while good still aren't a patch on the PC unless you are just interested in what was done on the PC.

There's a really weird but early FPS adventure game on the PS1 set on a space ship but the ship has a crew and a lot of interacting with them. Not sure what it was called but if you are interested in PS1 games it might be worth tracking down. It's either very light on combat or has no combat and is interesting but very rough around the edges. I'll have a look for the name of it.

Was it a Dreamcast game where you had a girl running around a space station infested with monsters and you could only talk to her over an intercom and the whole game was controlled over the mic?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,103 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

That's lifeline on the PS2. Had elisa cuthbert playing the girl in it. I've only heard legends of this game.

I've got to have it in my life!

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,103 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

It might have been US only. Here's shane 'mangod' battenhausen and seanbaby giving it a go:

Why does there seem to be more Saturn Racing Wheels available in the World than actual Sega Saturns?
