What cards will do the full epg trick as opposed to the blue button trick? I have an East Midlands region version which gives me the blue button option,I can get a hold of a Scottish region card, would it work?

The Scottish card wont work for the full trick, only the Utv card will give you the full trick to my knowledge although some say a Channel Island card does as well.

I have somehow managed to lose my UK midlands card and Sky is wrecking my head without the blue button trick.
I was going to get a replacement UTV one this time, can anyone point me in the direction of a reputable source?

Jaysus mate you might have your work cut out ... I had an awful job finding one a few months, it was only luck on here that I got one after months of looking.

Yeah, agreed, I've any number of UK ones, been on the look out for a NI one for ages!

One of the posters had a link to the sky website and by creative form filling and using my best Belfast accent I got my ftv card. I think that loophole is closed now.

Could you use parcel motel as they give you a n.i. address & have one forwarded there ?

You used to be able to order it all online, here is my original thread on how to do it:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055800625
now you can't, you have to ring Sky and order the card then get it activated.
I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £25. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 08448 244 400.
I dunno how you'll achieve that when Credit Card verification tends to need the first line of the address to match plus there's a high probability that the rep might give out about using Parcel Motel but I reckon you could talk your way out of that. Saying that I've never tried it, sure why don't you give it a go and let us know how you get on?

I got my card using your thread. I think it would be hard to convince a sky rep. Maybe if you had someone in ni you could get it sent to.

I got mine using the BT1 1AA postcode after my address but I don't know if that still works.

Finally cancelled the HD pack today. Was talking to a really nice sky guy, he even offered me the HD pack for free. Maybe I shouldn't have done this, but I fessed up and told him that I needed the SD epg to watch/record the ITV's.. He laughed and asked me how to do it. I told him to search boards... Seemingly discussions are ongoing with ITV/U.TV to get them on the epg. I told him that when they appear on the epg I'll get the HD back in.... I must confess I'll miss the HD.

Oh feck I could have said the hd tv was gone tits up and was back on the stone age scart tv resurrected from the shed. ... Too bloody late now eh? I'm a terrible liar in any case. He seemed a very nice guy I can't see him reporting me to the software guys( he says hopefully)

The only reason I would see sky putting a stop to it would be if people started dropping the HD package to do it ... I really hope he doesn't say anything.

Got my hands on a Channel Islands region card and I can confirm that it works for the Full Trick, all UK FTA channels are on the EPG except for ITV HD but that's probably because it doesn't appear on the Channel Islands EPG.

Unfortunately Channel Island cards are probably even more scarce than UTV ones. :(

I wonder what is different about these regions that allow the full trick

Agreed, the fewer people in Sky that know about it the better.

Well one definitely knows now that people would prefer not to take free HD to do it  :pac:

    They've been ongoing for years.
Still wont get Channel 5 on the EPG in Ireland.

I wonder with UTV HD announced for the 4th of next month will we be able to get it on the epg with a N.I card?

I'd say we will. It will probably be in 178 where itv hd is now. Any sign of a utv +1?

    UTV press release yesterday said UTV HD will be on 103, this might be a mistake but it would be sweet if we had;
    103 UTV HD/TV3

Isn't it a bit of a coincidence that the only 2 regions of cards that allow the full card trick DON'T have ITV HD/UTV HD on the EPG??

Not for much longer with UTV

Well, I was kind of insinuating that perhaps the only reason these allow the full trick might have something to do with it and perhaps if UTV HD came onto the EPG it might disrupt that??

I hope not....It is the only thing keeping me with Sky.

Very good point there. Time will tell I suppose. It would be gas if it all hinged on the 178 slot being occupied or not.
